News Comments > MOH Beta Opens to Steam BC2 Owners
14. Re: MOH Beta Opens to Steam BC2 Owners Jul 16, 2010, 11:16 Linksil

Yea not missing much. Can't rebind 1/2 the keys, game kinda freezes and don't let you do anything when you try. Menu's feel worse then MW2, Crashes a lot. I think I crashed 4 times just putting in settings. Then twice when trying to play. Ohhhh yea left strafe makes you go right and vice versa. This dosn't even account for the bad gameplay i'm hearing about on the forums...I'm sorry but i've played better alphas.

At least we get some in game trailers instead of this LA crap they've been shoveling. Still think i'll skip it(maybe rent) after the shitfest that was FEAR 2 storyline.

I'll def watch this one. I loved the underground segs of the first game with driving the drilling machines. But looks like we won't get that except maybe a mission or two that limits it. I like the idea of making things for defense not just destroying everything. Also were the hell did this come from? I mean I understand stuff happening while we're gone between games... but from the ending of RFG that I remember this is basicly a totally new game/story that has no lead in other then "Hey it's the same character/world" It's like someone just threw a dart at the design board and it landed on underground and aliens, then made up a story from there.

Hmmm think i'll have to try out the demo. Most people said to get anything good you had to pay month to month... but sounds promising.

Okay how's this game work? I've heard it both ways. That you can just buy the game and then play a bunch online without a monthly fee... and I've heard that you have to pay the monthly fee. Everyone seems to rate it in the middle ground for if it's a good buy or not.

Taking down was the wrong word. While we did take down a few sets of 2-4, Most of the time a fully upgraded sulk would do wonders for making the heavys go a lot slower and wear them down. Giving you time to get the bigger aliens into play. I remember in most of the longer games the comms normally didn't have res to just chain spam med kits. Weaving in and out of heavys causing them to hit each other instead of you while silenced, and doing hit and runs was a great way to "take down" a train. Usally didn't work well on the clan people, but still slowed them down and wasted res.

I'd take down heavy trains all the time with me and another sulk or three. While one person was saving for that great and rare onos, we'ed have a string of harassment onto those trains. Seeing 2 sulks take out 3-5 heavy's was such a great game moment followed by the sound of an ono's moving into finish it off. Stopping an entire train with a chuckle because they know if they go fast they're toast. ahhh the good old days.

I LOVED the 3 hours games we'ed have going back and forth because the game was so perfectly balanced with counters and counter counters. Agree that the whole effort to speed up rounds that came in the lattest patches is where this feeling of unbalance comes from. Also a lot of it comes from mods that people don't realize are running on the servers.

News Comments > Mass Effect Multiplayer?
31. Re: Mass Effect Multiplayer? May 30, 2010, 22:40 Linksil

I'm sorry I did write that kinda early. But yes a general def of RPG's does cover a lot more genre's then most other games. Also most games started from those simple table top and go from there. I hate to say it really but for me some of the BEST rpg's were the ones that just removed 1/2 the choices(like how your character is to act) and let me do the choices of skills/inv. I don't want to overly simplify the RPG catagory, but I hate all these people saying an RPG isn't an RPG without this whole being able to change the game world. Like everyone just wants clones of a sandbox game, or being forced into a choice(usally good or bad)

I think this is were we came up with JRPG and WRPG terms. To help define how much choices we have and in what they fall into. I'm just getting really really sick of people saying XXX rpg wasn't any good just because it didn't include every new type of choice in the game. You see this a lot in Western mags reviewing JRPGs.

I hate to say it, but this is why you'll always have people arguing over RPG's. Because everyone expects something different from what an RPG "IS". People forget that RPG's are Role Playing Games. You don't have to have leveling, you don't have to have choices, you don't have to have loot gathering to the ends of the earth. All of those are design choices that changes what Type of RPG the game is. ME is an Action RPG. It's an RPG with more action and Dialog centered design.

I hate people complaining about FF games and other RPG's just because they were excepting this big open ended game. At the core and RPG is just you playing a roll inside a game. How much you play the roll and how much you can change that roll is 100% up to the designers. Please stop trying to compare games that are different design element focused like they arn't.

And here I thought I was the only one that liked the hitman movie. I have to say most of the game movies are really good, when you just look at them as movies without trying to compare them to the games. Same settings/ideas, but different takes/universes on them if you will. In this sense I did enjoy Hitman, Silent hill, RE, Tomb raider for themselfs and not this grand film remake of the video game everyone wants to see for some reason. To a lesser extent MK, DOOM fit into this, but in the end just turned out into mindless movies. Pretty much everything with Boll was bad except Postal, which was good type of bad.

Yea you really won't see sales hit until the next wave of games for PC by them. People still bought the games this time not knowing about the DRM. But a lot of them saw the ugly side of it. That plus alittle google will make them look harder at future buys and that will finally hit the sales.

Thankfully PoP games are one of the few games I prefer to play on the consoles. Sooo DRM dosn't really affect you there. Sadly, just because of the DRM and other Ubisoft issues I tend to wait until I can pick it up for sub 20 dollars.

I enjoyed MW2 also... had a good 50 hours into the game with SP and MP combined. But I can't bring myself to play it now, let alone pay 5 dollars a new map.

News Comments > Guild Wars 2 Dynamic Events
7. Re: Guild Wars 2 Dynamic Events May 13, 2010, 10:10 Linksil

It's not phasing. Phasing removes the player from the events that have or havn't happened. This is more like what AC2 tried to do with having no towns, but then players that traded in an area would have a town slowly built around them. But again this didn't quite happen because players only gathered around places with anvils and such. While the towns were built, they didn't really have a choice where.

Sounds like the difference is that GW2 is going to try to make it totaly dynamic(a nice dream) instead of having the towns mostly build during updates.

Actully the stim package is on "sale" right now for like $13.75. Double exp when you have a chance to join a game and lose ALL of you exp isn't worth it. I got my 30 dollars that I payed for out out this the first few months. Too many other better games to go back and spend more money one something I'll stop playing in a few hours.

Thing about Bungie is they've been around a bit more, and i'm sure they spent a lot more time on the contract and what they would get out of the deal. Esp after dealing with MS for all those years...

5. Re: Sniper: Ghost Warrior Trailer Apr 25, 2010, 11:54 Linksil

Actully it's a better choice. Those that think/want a sniper sim know about the game. They're making a trailer to get a bigger market base, the MW2/BC2 base. Something that will move more units. Then latter if they're smart they will release a "hardcore" trailer.

It's kinda like L4D2 with realism mode.
