Slight correction but the 5% which is kicked forward ISN'T 5% of the money raised by Kickstarter but instead is 5% of the profits from whatever it was that Kickstarter funded.
Any developer that puts the KickingItForward.org URL on their Kickstarter project page is agreeing that they will put 5% of their finished product profits back into other Kickstarter projects. To be abundantly clear, this is only money that the developer earns as profit AFTER the project ships and AFTER they have paid their expenses. This is NOT a suggestion to invest money they received from people who invested into their project via Kickstarter.

I'm most happy about the return of storing items with Inn Keepers.
With the increased importance of the crafting system it's been damn annoying having to ditch stuff you'll know you'll need later because you just can't carry any more. |

| The next time Yerli tries to claim piracy is killing PC gaming I'm hoping some journalist does their job properly and suggests to him that piss-poor PC ports full of missing features, egregious bugs and absolutely no cheat protection in MP might be the problem instead. |

But they still went ahead with an artificially staggered worldwide release date and still force PC users to fight their way past a broken registration system before they can play.
Once more a company goes out of it's way to ensure that people who pirate are likely to have a better experience than the paying customers. |

I can't really comment on the US being on the other side of the pond but there did seem to be a reasonable PC game resale market a few years ago but it is basically dead now.
Which suits the devs just fine IMHO.
As for DRM as a way of emphasising how naughty piracy is, that's an interesting idea, but then why do developers & publishers seem to like DRM mechanisms with features like restricting the number of machines the software can be installed on ?
That inconveniences paying customers but would seem to add nothing of benefit if the aim is to get the word out that copying games is bad.

What is the point of DRM ?
It doesn't stop the game being cracked and spread round (I know of only one game that hasn't been cracked - Steel Beasts PE - and that's so niche no-one cares) so, what do developers feel they get from the money they have to spend to implement it ?
I suspect that DRM has absolutely nothing to do with combating piracy and everything to do with killing the resale market, but if any publisher or developer was to actually admit that the PR firestorm would be fatal.
It's much easier and safer to claim you are doing this to block the pirates than to admit that you are restricting the rights of your paying customers. |

Well EA are handling distributing physical copies of Portal 2 which allows you to play on PC, Mac & PS3 with a single copy of the PS3 version.
If that sells as well as is hoped maybe they'll take notice. |

At this point why do they even bother with an SP campaign ?
Why not just make it MP only (as clearly that's the only bit the devs and/or publisher care about) and apply the resources saved by not bothering with an (insultingly short) SP campaign on refining the MP as much as possibly. |

At this point in the release wouldn't it make alot more sense to ship the game as is and include Physx in the first patch ?
I'm wondering if they've run into a problem and need an excuse for a delay. |

I was sent a DLC code for Mothership Zeta for the PC if anyone would like it. First come, first serve. Well if no-one else wants it I'll have it

| Irrespective of the bandwidth that's involved (at a time when US net access seems to be shifting to a metered model) how exactly can they get round the issue of lag without actually changing the laws of physics ? |

The rumours I'm seeing are that this new AvP game is the reason that Aliens Colonial Marines got gutted of it's single player content (and Gearbox had to lay off staff).
So, assuming this is true, I'm not exactly jumping with joy at this new announcement since I really liked the look of the original CM before it had most of the game removed and I could have got to play that this year.
Thanks Sega. |

The flight mechanics are relatively simple as the autopilots take care of most of the small stuff. Once you get you head round the trimming mechanism (and a force-feedback joystick is a huge help there) then it's not that difficult to fly.
The really complicated stuff is the avionic which are modelled to a quite astonishing degree, but you really only need to get to grips with the simple stuff at first and then move on the the subtler aspects once you're confident with the basics.
I don't know what the training missions are like though as not understanding Russian they weren't that much help to me

I've been having a play with the russian version (you can convert the menus etc to english very easily but the missions and voice overs are still in Russian) and it's VERY VERY good.
To get an idea of the scope of the sim the English Manuals are available to download here: http://preview.tinyurl.com/58sc2o (Please excuse the tinyurl but the board software here seems to want to mangle the URL for some reason)
Frankly any Flight Sim that has 10 pages in the manual just dedicated to configuring the GPS system is way beyond anything I've played before.

So, Activision is jacking up its game prices to $70 for European customers so that it will still get around 50 euros from them for its games. If that's the case why are Activision only charging $49.95 in some parts of Europe like Cyprus and Estonia ?
It's price gouging, pure and simple and I can't think of a better way piss off your customer and encourage them to go and download illegal copies instead.
