Honestly, I'm not really sure what is part of the subscription and what isn't. I still have my free month so I'm not worried about it right now. And HiRez said they're working hard on trying to make it worthwhile to be a subscriber. Which is why they gave everyone an extra 30 days free for this month so they can make sure people will want to subscribe when they finally start charging people.

I purchased it last week when it was on sale for $40. I'm actually pretty pleased with it. The gameplay is fun, and there is a lot of stuff to work towards. And I love how the devs are keeping busy and pushing out lots of great content. A big patch hit last week, another huge patch hits tomorrow with new features including theft missions, and a 4v4 area. And the 1.3 patch adds large outdoor areas where players work together and do big PvE and PvP content. They are definitely listening to their players and are working the make the game as best as they can. The core gameplay is fun, it just needs more and more content which HiRez seems to be working on rather quickly.

I went back to the game last month and they've improved it greatly. It's a great game if you're into the whole sandbox MMO thing. I just don't have the time to play it because it requires a ton of time, even more than most MMOs.

I assume the $1 is to ward off spammers, and also because it's a FFA game. People could just make an army of trials and they could cause serious havoc and destroy some of the political and social aspects of the game. It's one server, and a ton of trial accounts could potential have a big impact on the game. I completely agree with charging the $1 for the trial. If you were at all interested in the game, $1 isn't a lot of money lol. And for those saying that they're looking for money, they probably get a very small portion of that $1. There are fees that the credit card company take, and I'm sure a lot of money goes to their bandwidth costs to give you the game download. I no longer play Darkfall, but a few weeks ago the community was great and there are plenty of people playing.

You guys do know WAR does have instances right? When you hit level 25, try doing Gunbad. It's a ton of fun and when you're doing it, remember it's only a level 25 dungeon. Plus there are a bunch of level 40 instances, and the endgame city raids are also very PvE oriented also. I find the instances much more fun than WoW ones. And I think that PvE content is much easier to add later than a good PvP system. PvP system will keep people playing and keep the game fresh, and give them time to come out with new PvE dungeons. I'm sure they'll be adding more endgame dungeons in the coming months.

Are you guys elder testers and have you tested recently? They've done big changes to the combat and made it much quicker and responsive. And the PvE and PvP are completely different between WoW and WAR. The PvE and PQs are extremely fun. They aren't just grinding dungeons over and over, they are very scripted and are a blast with a bunch of people. The RvR is AMAZING. The huge battles and the endgame RvR is simply incredible. Plus the fact that you can get some of the best gear from RvRing and taking keeps/cities makes it great for me. I love PvE, but I've always been a big PvPer and this game does a great job of implementing it. The Scenerios (kind of like WoW BGs), are very fun and all of them are very different from eachother. And I believe there are 15 different ones you can play. But the open RvR is where it shines, going out and capturing keeps with siege weapons and a bunch of guildmates is really rewarding. Then the fact you can actually claim keeps for you guild and have your guild banner hang from them is really cool. The end cities are also very well done, they're HUGE and are very detailed. Being able to fight to one of these cities and capturing it is really exciting. They're doing a good job balancing all the classes, and it feels like every class can contribute. The tanks are great in PvP even if they're specced for damage mitigation. They can protect healers and also do decent enough DPS to burn people down.

The quests are mostly pretty quick and fun. There are no "kill 40 of these" type quests. They are all pretty quick and some are really funny also. And the best thing in an MMO in a while (I think) are the PQs. They're big public quests that anyone can jump in on and help out. At the end, it rates everyone based on their contribution and awards bags to the top people. The bags always have something you can use, they are based on your class. And they can include epics, blues, or greens. It depends on the difficulty of the PQ and the number of people participating. They're very scripted and are a lot of fun. There are 3 of them in each zone, 2 zone per tier, 4 tiers per racial pairing, and 3 racial pairings (High Elves vs Dark Elves, Chaos vs Empire, Greenskins vs Dwarfs). There is a ton of content, you could level from 1-40 in just your racial pairing without even stepping foot in the other 2. And there are tons of quests and PQ in each pairing.

I could go on and on, but there are big differences. The biggest is obviously the RvR which itself is big enough for me to move from AoC and WoW to WAR. I was always a big RvRer in DAoC, and this takes the great parts of that and makes it even better. The beginning of the game reminded me of WoW when I was first invited to the beta. But after awhile of playing, and learning everything about the game I felt like this was much different. At first I didn't like the game, but it quickly grew on me. And I immediately went out and preordered the CE.

I just realize I probably sound like I work for Mythic or am a huge fanboy/Warhammer fan. But honestly I know almost nothing about Warhammer, and went into the beta thinking it was going to be terrible. I heard bad things from other people, but like I said, I quickly changed my view of the game.

EDIT: I would also like to say that there are also PvP levels that you gain alongside your normal levels as well. The level cap is set at 40, but you can get up to level 80 in PvP. And they'll probably extend the cap at some point too, like they did in DAoC. So you're constantly progressing and making your character better after well after you hit the level cap. You gain new skill points, new gear, titles, and abilites from PvP ranks. There is always something to do.

I am, but I'm just so burnt out from WoW. I don't even think expansions will help me, I'm just sick of the gameplay. And I dread the thought of leveling to 80. WAR is just a breath of fresh air, and a great one at that. I really believe it's going to be a huge hit. My guild leader is also in WotLK beta, and in WAR beta, and I'll just say we're moving to WAR.

You're much better off waiting for Warhammer. I've been in beta, and 2 months ago it was in better shape than AoC is in right now. End game is pretty much complete, RvR and PvP is working awesome, and PvE dungeons are a blast. There are a few small bugs, but I expect them to be fixed for release. Open beta is starting soon, and then everyone not in closed beta will start to get a better understanding of just how complete the game is. I played AoC and have a level 77 Bear Shaman, but WAR is a much better and much more complete game.

I think it will end up pulling a lot of people away from WoW because it's RvR aspects of the game are an absolute blast. I played WoW for a long time (3 level 70s) and I'll never look back after playing WAR. There is just so much more to do rather than farm the same instances over and over.

The communication is an easy fix with the Xbox 360 communicator that attaches to the controller. Would work perfect. The 360 also allows USB keyboards to be plugged in and used to type, but not game.

And the latest dashboard update is rumored to allow HDD installation of games. And being able to optimize for a single hardware configuration, they'll probably be able to make the game pretty decent. It runs pretty decent on computer hardware that isn't that great, I'm sure they can make it run well on the 360.

The in-game ads aren't even noticable. I never even realized they were there until I looked for them. And I'm glad they're scanning for programs. We don't need cheaters to ruin this game like they did with diablo.

I didn't play the single player demo, but I've been in the beta. The game is one of the most fun I've played in a while. I thought the graphics were really good, with setting on max. And it seems like I've heard a ton of good things from people on the forums and my own guild forums. But a lot of negativity from this site. Maybe just the single player is bad.
