They arent features if they werent in the game to begin with. *shrug*
Theres nothing wrong with trying a new type of sub model. The video game business IS a business afterall. These guys do need to make cash - and they want to make as much as they can, like anyone.
You get an entire single-player compaign and a basic multiplayer component with the game. If you want even more then you can subscribe. Makes sense to me.
You dont like it - dont play it.
Just please, for the love of all that is holy, STOP whining.

Its actually a pretty decent game.
Course, theres really no point in my even posting this since 95% of all the comments here at Blues are negative whining.

Well so far everyone has pretty much bashed the game. Ill be one who will say the game was, and still is, fun.
Im not real sure what it is everyone was expecting that caused them to hate TR so much. Its not a bad game. Its just nothing truly outstanding either.
Its a fresh take on a sci-fi MMO though, thats for sure.
To correct some things mentioned below: there are swimming animations (holster your weapon) - you *can* capture bases and the baddies *can* take them back, Ive seen it happen (its just rare right now due to the large amount of players at nearly ever base) - we've already been told vehicles of some sort will be headed to the game post-release.
Anyway - if you are curious about it - try it. I say never listen to the critics. Decide for yourself. In a time where everyone is ready to ruthlessly jump on anything for the slightest infraction - you have to see it for yourself to make a wise decision.
