Yeah, I know. That's where they admitted it really had zero funding and zero progress back in October when they announced a release window and gave long list of platforms. There was no need to lie to people back then, and I don't know why fans would donate money right after they revealed that their first announcement was a sort of hoax.

It's good that you've never made plans anytime in your life and then had to change them. People might have thought you were lying to begin with, or the whole thing was a hoax.

You're defending Larry like he's your brother.

Is anyone an MMO fan who also participated in the beta and want to share their impressions? I won't have time to try this over the weekend but the website (content/screens/vids) suggest the game is quite polished and the combat is interesting. I'm wondering if this is reality or marketing fluff.

1) If you don't like MMOs, this game won't change your mind about them. Yes, the combat is different then most...but it is still at its core all the same MMO stuff. It sounds like you are a fan of the genre, but I am just saying.

2) If the whole Japanese anime art style bugs you, you will hate this game. Not because the whole game is anime, it isn't, it borrows heavily from many different art styles. That said, your huge over-the-top weapons, little girls in barely-there clothing, etc are all present and accounted for. If you are indifferent or a fan, then you're good to go.

3) The graphics are awesome for a MMO. Hell, they are pretty damn good for any game.

4) The "I actually have to aim to hit things and move to keep them from hitting me" combat style is refreshing. It will bug the hell out of some people, but they can go play something else. There are a cubic buttload of "tab-select stand in one place" games out there. I don't mean that as negative as it sounds, I play a couple of those games, and love them...but there is a certain immersion and skill factor that comes from a game that requires what Tera requires from its players. I find it to be pretty fun, and wonder why more games don't do it.

5) The quests are boring and unimaginative. This goes beyond the typical "all MMO leveling quests are boring". I mean, the quests I have played in the first 20 levels of Tera are about as creative as Amish porn. They are obviously there to simply carry a very basic storyline and grind your leveling process. Very little voice acting, few cinematics..and very little variation between two basic staples: A) kill X of these OR B) bring me X of these.

6) Speaking of grinding....thanks to a westernization type overhaul...this game appears to be relatively painless as far as the grind. I hit 20 in one weekend of beta playing very casually and taking many long breaks for other fun things like doing my taxes. Maybe that's why the grind didn't seem so bad..I was comparing it to my taxes...

7) The variety in gameplay between the classes is surprising. Traditionally similar classes have very big differences, even at the lower levels. I dig that...being as I like to play alts rather then stick to one character all the time.

8) I have nothing to say about PvP, I didn't do any. I also don't have enough instance experience to comment on that...I mainly solo leveled. Maybe someone else can be more helpful on those topics.

Bottom line, I am going to buy it and enjoy it however long it takes me to level at least one character. If the content gets MUCH more interesting in the later levels, I might even keep playing it...but as it stands, I see it as a 3-4 month diversion...and then maybe revisit it after it "fills out" a bit.

Thanks a lot for typing all of this up - its quite helpful. I wonder if there are other ways to gain XP (via PVP, crafting, etc) outside of the boring quests you mentioned.

This game is a complete joke. Browser based means little content. Besides this developer has no clue when it comes to making a MMO!

Not browser based... not an MMO. Believe you have the wrong game.

Ah Yes it is browser based and it is one of those semi MMO games.

Can you post some links to prove this?

Everything I've seen shows a non-browser based RPG (NOT an MMO) which will be available on xbox360, ps3, and PC.

Have you installed this version of sfall over the GOG version of fallout1?

EDIT: I just tried. The base game from GOG works fine w/ no color distortion. If you add this version of sfall for Fallout1 then you get color distortion and who knows what else (in Win7).

EDIT2: I modified the ddraw.ini file and made the following changes:
o- Mode=4
o- GraphicsWidth=1600
o- GraphicsHeight=900
o- GlobalShaderMode=3

And now videos look correct and I can adjust the game speed.
No I have not, my bad. Glad you found the right ini changes to do. Are those the working changes when using GoG vanillia or after adding sfall?

Actually, GOG vanilla looks and works great. I still installed sfall afterwards because I wanted the speed tweaks. The ddraw.ini file changes I suggested apply to sfall only. Thx for the tip on the mod itself.

I don't know if the GoG version includes SFALL, but I reccomend that at the very minimum in terms of playing fallout 1. Here's a GoG forum post with links:
http://www.gog.com/en/forum/Fallout_Series/fallout_2_mods/post119

sfall is basically a program that intercepts some of the calls (mostly the direct3d stuff to translate to direct x).
Features:

* Increase movement and combat speed to up to 10x normal.
* Play fallout in a window or in 16 bit colour mode
* Use d3d9 in place of the usual ddraw
* Use the mouse scroll wheel in the inventory, barter, conversation and save/load menus.
* Assign a use to the middle mouse button, and adjust mouse sensitivity beyond fallouts normal range
* Adjust or remove the 13 year time limit
* Fixes the broken pathfinder and sharpshooter perks
* Adds some additional script functions for modders to use

Thats the one that can remove the time limit, I think it fixes the graphical glitches under vista/7, and its also the one where you can scale the viewing window up and apply filters to it so it doesn't look too bad when you do.

Okay so if the WL2 people get up to $10 million we get to see a booth and some babes at some game convention giving out free handjobs? Time to tap the 401k.
In return for a $8 million contribution from someone (are you volunteering?), I bet they'd be willing to agree to a condition such as putting some booth babes at a convention.

I'll give him a handjob for only half that amount.

Another reason to stay the fuck off of social networking sites as much as possible. Unfortunately more and more organizations are using it as a way to get time-sensitive business-related communiques out, so it is almost a necessity in some cases.

For me, the only way I can rescue and foster dogs in time from the Memphis Animal shelter - which, sadly is not a no-kill shelter - is by reading the announcements on their Facebook. I just fostered five awesome pit bull puppies (all with homes now - WOOT!) that were scheduled to be destroyed at 5pm on the day the announcement came out on Facebook. If saving perfectly good dogs from unnecessary destruction requires a Facebook account, then I'll bite the bullet and do it. On another note, being an active musician without using Facebook page means being out of work quite a bit.

One out of every five pit bulls will permanently disfigure an infant's face. I'm not sure how you sleep at night.

I'm not a fan of Apple in a lot of ways, but how the hell can you compare a Windows-based phone to an iPhone. Even the iPhone3gs blows away the Nokia Lumia 900.

It is still a good game and doesn't really have a solid competitor.

GW2 will steal some subscribers but it will not be a wow-killer.

Hopefully something comes along and replaces WoW in terms of content and quality before I'm too arthritic to play games.

I like many here probably have to overlook several pc's, family, friends, business. When I see a bad running pc, then I see MSE, I can almost always guarantee I've immediately spotted the problem. That program wants to lock and hog resources like no other. And more people are using it? To me that will just make more disgruntled users perhaps looking at Mac next time. Win 7 was a great step forward, MSE will easily take it all back.

Running it on multiple systems and not once have I seen anything even remotely like what you're describing here. Do you work for Symantec or something? It's the only antivirus software I've ever used that's completely transparent and doesn't do what you're describing.

I work on a hundred or more systems a week and I've never even heard anyone complain about it before. Literally the only problem I've ever even dealt with regarding MSE is on a couple of systems where it wouldn't install.

Symantec does have a superior product both in NIS and N360. There were issues but those are long, long gone. Norton is better - hands down.

Those complaining about Endpoint Protection - is your company running the latest version? I know they had plans to re-write EP to use much of the N360/NIS code - not sure if that's been completed yet or not.

I like this game much better than Orcs Must Die. Its also multiplayer (mostly co-op).

Give it a go, see what you think. If you have any questions I can probably help.

Make sure to add any DLC to your account that's marked FREE. You get that permanently added to your account (sometimes they introduce a DLC as free, then start charging for it later, so the people that added it when it was free get to keep using their free copy).

I played the heck out of it when it was first released but constantly having the grind the same level X times to get a satisfactory version of the weapon I was seeking plus the constant disconnect issues from Trendynet killed it for me.

I may try again but there certainly is a lot of farming involved if you want a decent character.

Actually, I can NOT buy it, AND bitch about it! Free speech is cool. I can tell others that Blizzard and the fanboys are full of shit when they say stuff about it being online only to prevent cheating. I can point out that you're at the mercy of their servers and your ISP if you want to play the game you paid for. I can at least help to inform some people about the problems. If they want to buy anyway, fine. That's their decision. My decision is to point out the crap that ActiBliz is peddling.

This is all very true. The trick to making it work is to ensure that the people receiving your message are stupid enough to agree.
