It was horribly boring to just stand there for 30-40 mins and watch baddies die without much risk to the player. Am I missing something? Increase the difficulty. Unless you're really high level or you're getting carried by your team, the game is quite hectic. Yep. It is certainly challenging. However, I still lost interest in it after a few days. It was fun while it lasted. |

Other than the very disappointing melee combat (there no sense of contact -- its like you are waving a sword around in the air), the game was crazy ambitious and and bound to fail. But it didnt.
I still want an RPG like BG2 but that's never going to happen in the 21st century I guess. Did you play Dragon Age? I ignored DA and DA:2 until a few days ago where I snagged the PC version of both games for $5 each.
I've just started DA but it feels a lot like BG2. |

Nice - this is good to hear as the game did feel very easy in the beta. Also, I don't mind if a few friends and I spend an hour trying to down a boss *if* the drops are worth it. There has to be some relevant reward or it will just end up being annoying.
I trust they'll make it fun. |

Sounds like some people don't know how simple and almost invisible the Companion pets were in D3. They zipped around picking up gold, that's it. They were tiny and were barely visible. They did nothing else. In principle, I agree that people are (again) vastly over-reacting...
With that said, however, I'm a bit confused about the pets. If all the pets did was pick up gold, why did the CM describe them as if "they were mandatory to maximize play efficiency"? It's hard to see picking up gold as something that mandatory. He said they 'felt' like the were mandatory to maximize play efficiency.
With the pet picking up gold for you the level can be finished in 21m 54s.
Without the pet picking up gold for you the level can be finished in 22m 11s.
It's really such a non-issue. |

Tomas wrote on Jan 28, 2012, 04:11: I'm in the camp that believes the pets will show up as some sort of micro transaction goody. They already do it successfully in WoW, so why not in DIII?
"lol, look at that noob. He hasn't bought his $40 pet on the blizzard store yet, haha." The pay pets in WoW are vanity only. The companion pet in D3 has a purpose and unless there's a free version of the same pet they likely won't make a paid version.
Blue is just wrong making such an absurd headline for this topic. |

| I'm somewhat looking forward to this MMO. The concept is fresh (for an MMO) and Funcom is an old hand at developing MMOs. Here's hoping... |

Also, Dev, thanks for the mention of Revenge of the Titans. That also looks like a game I'll purchase. However, it is currently $12. Does it ever go on sale? It goes on sale every now and then, I picked it up for like $4 at some point. I like it but it's not a $10 game to me YMMV. Then I shall wait for a sale or a permanent price drop. Thank you. |
