I can see why he'd be concerned but this is why you don't go public until you're damn sure. At best he's looking silly and if 505 Games aren't amused he could be sued.

I presume ROAM, the game, existed in development before 505 contacted Roam, the developer - so it couldn't be that in fact they're ripping off 505's idea (which I think was Creston's point, that you seemed to have missed Fibrocyte).

505 contacted ROAM through Kickstarter. Suggesting that Ryan ripped off "Monster Island" and is now trying to cover it up by accusing 505 of stealing from him is absolutely absurd. If Ryan stole from anyone then his best course of action is to stay quiet.

So I didn't miss Creston's point at all. Creston missed what is going on here. However, like I said in my initial post, I agree that he should've did some serious fact checking before going public.

How is it absurd that eh may have stolen the idea from "Monster Island"...

Maybe because he didn't know about it before this fiasco... Oh wait, who claimed that? : )

-Alamar

Because he's the accuser. This isn't a complex situation, guys.

What to do when you're stealing someone's game:

Step 1) Accuse the other guy of stealing YOUR game.

It's okay if you don't understand what is going on here.

I think his reaction was justified, though he may have wanted to contact 505 first and ask "WTF" before making it so public.

Either way, he's working very hard to make an ambitious game with few resources so I give him a lot of credit.

How is $699(+$100 for the type keyboard) for an i5, 4GB ram, 1080P, SSD, touchscreen, stylus, x86/x64 laptop unreasonable?

I have been using a 128GB Surface Pro with a type keyboard as my only work computer since it came out, and I am plenty happy... I have a full-sized keyboard and mouse at my desk, and a nice monitor with a mini-DP to DVI converter. So I plug a mini-DP and the power in at the office, and I have the exact same dual-screen setup I used to have with a full-sized laptop.

The only time I ever use it as a "tablet" is when I need to take notes in meetings, I tear the keyboard off and use a pen with OneNote.

I suppose if people think of the Surface Pro as an iPad-wanabe, then yeah, I can see it is way overpriced. But as a primary-use laptop, I think it is priced great!

Well, you are wrong, and your company is wasting money.

You telling someone they're wrong only validates how right they are.

Is this first or third person or both? Is it best played with a joystick? Their website seems neat but it's a mess trying to find out WTF you're actually supporting. I got more information from wikipedia but anything you guys can share to help me understand whether or not I should back this would be much appreciated.

It seemed like a silly claim to me and, sure enough, after reading the article it is more of an ad for istock than anything else.

The commercial implies that this is like BF1942. Is that the case or am I being misled? I had a blast in 1942 and haven't really cared for the series since. Not that it's bad, it just morphed into something less interesting for me.

Agreed. I've played most of their games and beat some. They're perfect for long distance air travel.

Hmmm... I'd be interested in trying this, but can't seem to figure out how to get a key from the list of foreign sites they posted. Of course, I'm too tired to put in much effort. I'll figure it out in the morning.

That was NOT gameplay, obviously

What is it, then? To me, it looks like a video containing various clips of the game being played by someone plus some added voiceover.

Where is all this money coming from?

People who lack budgeting skills. I prefer to buy food for a homeless person on the street; it's a much better investment for my soul.

Nice! So why are you on a gaming website at all? Surely you've never bought a game or a PC and you give the homeless all your money, right? Your "soul" must be perfect. You will undoubtedly go to "heaven".

The guy has a point though. I loved the game but it was indeed repetative and easy. I played on normal too, because that's what any experienced PC gamer should do in his right mind. A paradox indeed, but it's because we know most games are most properly balanced on normal difficulty. Unless you're absolutely hardcore, you probably won't start a strategic game on hardest difficulty, and the game shouldn't expect you too. Point is that XCOM's normal difficulty was unbalanced and ridiculously easy.

Thank you. That's what I was saying and, given my experience on Normal, I had no desire to play it again on Hard+. I certainly didn't hate the game.

Cant wait for Enemy within....ohhhh gimme that XCOM goodness....

Enemy Unknown was mediocre at best. It certainly wasn't worth full price.

Are you referring to the pc version, or the crappy ios game? Because yours is the first negative comment I've heard about the pc version. It wasn't perfect, and had its flaws, but people loved it.

PC version. And my comment wasn't necessarily negative, it just wasn't positive.

I payed full price and found the game to be very repetitive and easy (my 2 snipers were annihilating all aliens towards the end of the game). Had I gotten it at 50% off I may feel differently.

And you played on the hardest difficulty on Ironman right?

I'll hold off on believing you just breezed through the whole game losing no soldiers and no countries on your first playthrough.

No, I didn't. I played on Normal and would have happily went to hard if the first play through wasn't so incredibly repetitive.

You can't really complain about difficulty if you aren't playing on the highest difficulty.

This is Bluesnews. I can complain about anything I want.

Just because you love the game doesn't mean my opinion is invalid. It is damn repetitive and simple once you learn the underlying mechanics (which should happen very quickly). Increasing the difficulty will in no way resolve these combined issues.
