| PR spinnage. By doing their stress test only for preorders and only for a small window during off-peak hours, they avoid any of the perception that their servers aren't ready for launch. |

Also, yeah, I don't see much Pay to Win about this. Even with XP boosts, or certs, or whatever. If it can be obtained in-game in a reasonable amount of time, I give zero fucks if someone wants to blow extra money to get it quicker. We'll see what happens when they announce their business model formally, but I don't see them doing anything ridiculous on the P2W front. |

Jeweler •The gold and material cost to combine gems ranks 2-8 has been reduced •Combinations for these ranks now only require 2 gems, down from 3 •The gold cost to combine each rank of gems is now as follows: •Rank 2 - Flawed: 10 gold (down from 500 gold) •Rank 3 - Regular: 25 gold (down from 750 gold) •Rank 4 - Flawless: 40 gold (down from 1250 gold) •Rank 5 - Perfect: 55 gold (down from 2000 gold) •Rank 6 - Radiant: 70 gold (down from 3500 gold) •Rank 7 - Square: 85 gold (down from 7500 gold) •Rank 8 - Flawless Square: 100 gold (down from 20,000 gold) That kills the AH! Now I can convert all my gems, was getting a ton and going to save a ton! This is actually a good fix. Flawless Squares drop frequently from mobs so it didn't make sense to have a high cost to manufacture something that the market is flooded with. |

With very few exceptions, long games are padded to all fuck with grinding or a lot of reloading your save. Yeah that's fair. I like a competent game that doesn't overstay its welcome or have meaningless exp grinding just for the sake of a box bullet point. Sometimes quantity just means more goodness though True. The best games are the ones where when you beat them you're thinking I WANT MORE, but not "Wow, this was way too short." Subtle difference between the two, but I think you get my meaning.
Creston wrote on Jun 18, 2012, 11:36: (and the game STILL won't give me "Foxiest of the Hounds!" ARGH!) Foxiest of the Hounds is a finicky mofo. My first playthrough I was ultra careful, sneak sneak sneak, thought I had gotten all the Smooth Operator bonuses, etc. No Foxiest. Second playthrough I do another stealth playthrough but more aggressive, literally killing every son of a bitch on every map. Wasn't even trying for Foxiest. But ended up getting it that time anyway. |

Yet it has become nerf central where the ultimate goal is to make it so no one can accomplish anything. |

Resistance will give you let's say 50% damage reduction. Then if you want a comparable vitality item, you want that item to give you double the vitality. Not 5%. Uh, your math is a bit off there. Effective HP is a little more complicated than that. The more resistance you have, the more EHP each point of vitality gives you. The more vitality you have, the more EHP each point of resistance gives you.
You can't really take a piece of gear and make the resistance or vitality equal, because it depends on what other gear the person has. If I have a ton of resistances and crap vitality, then a cheap vitality piece is going to blow away even a strong resistance piece. |

It can be a bit annoying and confusing, but it's better development practice than rolling out an actual patch requiring downtime and a client restart every time you need to hotfix something. Do they not put this info in release notes for the hotfix? They supposedly put ongoing hotfixes in a blog post on their site after they got some flak for doing ninja hotfixes which got a bunch of peoples hardcore characters killed. How complete that list is, that's anyone's guess. |
