Doesn't run acceptably on Nvidia systems either.

You know honestly I have no problem with them having in-game purchases for what are effectively cheat codes for a basically single player game. It's not like you're missing out on content as far as I can tell. If people want to be dumb enough to spend $100 to upgrade their weapons, okay. Even the free stuff like Initiates and the Companion app are more of a problem.

But I'm mostly concerned with the lack of polish that is even worse than normal Ubi levels. I realize that it's a new engine, but come on. My monster of a system should be able to get a mostly steady 60fps at SOME kind of quality settings.

This is not boding well for Far Cry 4. They better not screw that up too. Watch_Dogs was great (but lacked polish), and this sounds just horrible... It has a positive review rating of 35% on Steam right now.

Most of those reviews seem to consist of "Doesn't run on my potato!" Which is a fair criticism. Game runs like poop.

I have a 4.2GHz i7-3970K six-core processor and three Titans and I can't get anywhere near a steady 60fps with everything maxed at 1440p.

I imagine there's a few bugs involved there though, rather than just performance scaling. Because changing settings, for me, doesn't really improve my framerate.

Extremely pretty game. Performance is sluggish in return though. Combat is harder this time around, and has more progression to it. The enemies actually have a difficulty level based on what part of the city you're in, as opposed to just being the same throughout. You can kill a single max level guy at the start if you're very quick and a bit lucky. But you'll want to get better weapon/armor and upgrade them. Even escaping from guards can be more difficult as many are not shy about shooting you for a lot of damage the second you get some distance on them.

The world is more detailed and has a lot more people in it than the games have had before. There really are crowds of hundreds if not thousands of people.

Anyway, those are my impressions thus far. Can't really speak to the story or anything like that yet since I'm not too far in.

Oh Adam Baldwin. Why couldn't you just stay Jane and Animal Mother in our memories, and not start spouting right wing conspiracy theories?

I suppose this is true for most actors; few people want to hear their madness, just watch them perform on screen.

Yup. Sean Penn and Alec Baldwin, too. Some people come across as well nuanced. Adam Baldwin comes across as well read but a complete and total ass. Must run in the Baldwin name...

All the Baldwin brothers need periodic enemas to keep from spewing shit from all orifices.

Adam Baldwin isn't related

Nice to have a game where the Assassins aren't painted as the indisputable good guys. I know the other games have hinted at their ability to be less than awesome, but they've never really put a focus on it.

Saw some AC Unity performance numbers on NeoFAG earlier.

2600K, GTX 780, 1080p everything maxed 30-40fps with dips into the 20s.

Hand your abuse-reporting system over to an agenda-driven group that profits from its own existence? What a brilliant idea! It offers immunization from the radicals, plus deniability when the system is inevitably misused.

Next up, Facebook will contract with the American Enterprise Institute and Rush Limbaugh to handle claims of harassment against the right-wing and wealthy.

Dolts.

It's not really as bad as it seems. It's two people who have no actual moderation powers, they can only flag and escalate existing reports AFAIK. It's just a token gesture really.

It is, on the surface, kind of disturbing to hand over moderation privileges to a very focused activist group only concerned with one kind of harassment, but that's really not what's going on here when you dig down into it.

According to their latest financial statements for H1/2014, they are at 15% of their sales happening on the PC platform so it's not a totally negligible chunk but, yeah, they would probably live even if the PC totally fell by the wayside over night. They could certainly live without Steam. Not the entire 15% are happening on Steam naturally. It's 15% total from Steam, Uplay, GOG, other digital delivery services, and of course also good old retail combined. Not being on Steam would certainly not hurt Ubi all that much.

Plus consider that there aren't huge numbers of PC exclusive gamers, relative to the whole. Many of us have at least one next gen console already. So even if Ubi were to abandon PC entirely, they wouldn't lose everyone who was on PC. They'd convert a good number of them to console. Especially their more hardcore fans.

I don't really see Valve having a ton of leverage on Ubisoft if push came to shove. Valve's influence is mostly over indies or small studios at this point. Particularly anyone developing PC exclusives, Valve has them by the balls.

I don't know about Uplay but I know with EA they charged a lot more on Origin than Steam, despite taking a bigger cut.

Ubisoft is charging £65 / $103 (discounted from £70 / $111) for Far Cry 4 Gold, which is utterly ridiculous. Even the regular version is £50 / $80, which most new games are available from £22-30 / $35-48. For instance, I paid £24 / $38 to pre-order Civilization: Beyond Earth and £22.50 / $36 to pre-order Tomb Raider (both Steam copies). Even on Steam most AAA games are £30, with even overpriced shit like Call Of Duty 'only' costing £40.

Ubisoft has lost the plot. If I hadn't got FC4 and AC:U for free I wouldn't have bought them, despite being really interested in both. Ubisoft is starting to become like EA.

Hmm thats interesting. But if Uplay isn't undercutting Steam, why would Steam be bothered by it? Like I could understand them being opposed to uPlay being cheaper, but the same or more expensive? I don't see how that hurts Valve. If anything it makes them look better in comparison. This is all so confusing.

Yeah I don't get why a retailer would give a fuck about what the publisher wants to charge... I must be missing something.
Because it undermines the platform, as some publishers can charged unreasonable amounts while having normal prices on their own service.

There was speculation about regional pricing disputes or something. But I have no idea why that would lead to a temporary removal of their upcoming titles from other regions. I wish one of these companies would fucking just say something already instead of making us guess.
