Seems like a reaction to the tweet. It is likely they weren't prepared to announce it quite like that.

Be interesting to see what comes out of it.

Ferrari with only an automatic transmission.

Funnily enough this has been brought up in the car world, and has been mentioned to be likely in the future. How things can change =)

Okay went a bit overboard there, but alrighty. I'm not fussed, yeah it seems awful to give up a great game over an issue but it is the only way I can make a difference (however small).

Rather than be a person who says they will boycott something then doesn't I tend to stand by my position. That being said, I'm not completely stubborn, if they even just gave me a lipservice version with a offline mode like Valve does with its games then it would be a different story. I'm not completely unreasonable, but you gotta do what ya gotta do.

I don't get that. I assume your internet connection can handle a total of 2 people.

Nothing to do with net access, I'm just opposed to LAN requiring a net connection. Hence I'll vote with my money, as I have done with any game/service that doesn't do it right in my opinion (IE MW2 with it's P2P crap and Xbox 360 charging for online multiplayer).

So he apologies and then gives dick advice again. This guy should just shut his mouth at all times.

It actually seems like good advice to me. He's saying that instead of revealing information in an informal way that indie developers could instead use that as a vehicle to get the word out about their games... that's hard logic to argue with. They can still communicate and be personal with their fans while using that news to make more fans for the future.

Problem being is most sites won't pay attention to you until you're popular. It's the chicken and the egg issue. Become popular and get exposure, get exposure to get popular. It applies to all levels, from getting your game reviewed to getting a PR release posted on news sites for a game release.

Same applies for getting your game on Steam, unless your game stands out to the reviewers at valve.

Review sites, News sites etc... want eye balls, they get eye balls with what is popular so if you're a little nobody you won't bring eye balls unless it's a slow news day.

Though I find blues covers a bit of everything, which is why I am here =)

Be interesting to see if there is a mod released that is like their own Counter-Strike which sells copies of the game just to play.

Nobody has done that in a while, would be interesting to see. I'd imagine it would be the only way that people like us (those who think the multiplayer = getting their ass handed to them) would play the game long term, or even pick it up in the first place for anything but the single player.

I'm going to borrow a friends copy, not interested in the online multi and the lack of lan option (proper lan) means I won't be getting it just for 1v1 with my brother who lives with me (we are both equally awful).

Aseven is correct. Also places like my home country, Australia, a life sentence is only 25 years, and often they can parole after 12.

It's not often you see them actually stick them into jail for a initially long peroid, they usually have time added for crimes commited while in jail.

For those who are interested this is really quite good to play. A bit slow at first and then it gets good, especially after your first tank upgrade.

I'm not a shattered crystal fan or anything, but if you setup an account you can get access to the closed beta.

Yes because it's so simple to get on steam when it's your first game.... I think you need to talk to some devs who would love to see their games on there.

Holy crap and I though the STO trial was too big to download at 8gig.

Compared to 30+gig that's nothing!

Would be nice to see some more mmos do the $2 discs from retailers for trials as some of us with download caps would have a chance then.

Just remember guys, this is Profit, not revenue.

But yeah, including wow is a bit unfair, though it shows that the consoles by making certain limitations within their platforms (completely artifical: no kb/mouse, xbox live requirements) they are giving up on potential income.

Wasn't looking directly at it, but you can expect the other versions of it to run similar, especially when they rebadge it during the next generation as a "lower model".

Interesting review though, thanks =)

How hot does the 480 run? Does it really suck down the juice, or do you not know?

I've been a Nvidia user for a long time, but I sway when ATI releases the better offerings for the generation (9800pro vs GeforceFX). Their drivers left me with a bad taste at the time, so I've mostly stuck with Geforce and currently have a GTX 275.

Would be nice to see another player enter the market, then again I'm more of a midrage card kind of person.... paying the usual $200+ extra for another 10fps has never appealed to me.

Creston! Excatly what I was thinking about when playing through recently. Level streaming has come along way and HL2 would feel even more "open" than it does even though it's pretty linear in where you can go.

They did a good job with level design to make you feel like it was much bigger than it really was, but it was all just BSP levels like most games.

38. Re: Source 2/Half-Life 3 Rumor Jun 9, 2010, 08:11 RenownWolf

I wouldn't mind seeing a new engine taking advantage of some new features. The minor updates so far are nice but somethings could be changed on a lower level.

Considering the code base comes from Quake I have no problems with how it works, but I'd like to see support for a new renderer for some of the nice features that have come from Opengl 3.x and DX10/11.

That said, I always thought that source games felt more "real" especially Half-Life 2 than most other FPS games I've played, but that most likely comes from the setting of Half-Life 2 and knowing how to use the engine right rather than the engine itself.

Eh I'd say he does, but like anybody elses anti-virus it doesn't catch everything.

I wish one of them did because then I'd only have to install 1 anti-virus program and never have to use various online ones to find a virus when somebody gets one.

They should be doing some cardio each day, regardless of their profession. It's good for your body and could only be of benefit.

Give up 1 hour of training at games, for physical activity and they'll find they will improve at their game.
