This is some awesome news. I never used that giant gundam mech, sounds like a hell of a lot of fun. Does anyone know where it might still be available? Looks like its time to load up TA again.
My favorite strat was to have one rax continually producing units that are rallied in the enemy base, while my gigantic-assed guns just picked off anything the little doomed spotters walked near. Fun times!

Im using an aiw 9800 and the shark and the rocks consistently look strange to me. I think I have tried to adjust everything that was available to change this, but I could be mistaken. Does anyone have the same problem, or better yet, know how to fix it? Great demo other than that though.
I'm willing to wait an extra three hours for this game.
P.S. The shark is odd for more than one reason. Besides the texture issue I am having, sharks don't keep their mouths closed when hung up like that. This comment was edited on Feb 5, 18:00. |

Never paid too much attention to this game, but you guys make it sound pretty neat. It seems to have quite a few rts elements to it. Seeing as how that is my bag, I think I may have to give it a try.

'I enjoyed the first SST RTS. It did the small squad-based combat really well I thought, but was bug ridden and frustrating at times.'
I love it! a bugridden starship troopers game. Savor the irony.
and..
A Dungeon Siege movie? It will only work if they bring the inspiring depth of the characters that was in the game. I was on the edge of my seat, and couldn't wait to see what would happen next!

Im still having trouble with this flack's statement: 'The new third person perspective will further immerse players into the role of Garret [sic] -- the master Thief'
I know this has been said before but the third person doesnt immerse you in a role whatsoever. It is, however, usually a sign of crappy gameplay- like being able to see around corners your character can't with cheesy camera moves.
Edited for grooviness.

They seem to have some nice floppy dead body physics too. I shot a guy in a boat, commandeered it and was driving it forward while looking backwards at the dead body behind me. Pretty nice. Couple moment in the game where physics seems to look the other way though, when dealing with enemies. Oh, and for some reason my grenades seem to be mostly duds. They clunk out there, and slink off into the great unknown rather than make any sort of spectacle of themselves.

to nin: Ah extenuating circumstances. In that case I think you are definitely choosing the least smelly of two evils.
As far as the whole dissemination of information thing goes, I'm kind of hoping this will reduce the pesky problem of genocide that keeps popping up. I'm sure some incidents have occured since the rise of the internet, but hopefully that was before people learn how to harness the power of it for more than just sending me lots of email about how to get a bigger weiner.

You would do anything to keep your pets well and happy, and yet one of your cats weighs 16 pounds? Sounds like you are leaning a little too far towards the happy side.

Im pretty lazy, but thats orthogonal to the issue at hand. I don't like giving out personal information, and I get particularly chafed when it is required for minor things like patches. I would be upset if others in the game industry did the same thing, and so I am voting with my wallet.

Despite all the flack that this game has received, I'm really interested in it, though I have yet to purchase it. The only sticking point I have right now (besides not having a joystick) is that you have to register on forums just to get patches. Even though this game might be gods gift to privateer fans, I might give it a pass because of that.

Aside from some stellar opportunities for astronomy, there doesn't seem to be too much that the moon has to offer in terms of a place to pitch a tent in the old fashioned non sexual sense.
