If you've only played the demo, then you really have no idea what you're talking about. The full game is very different.

I am going to have to take issue with this statement.

I have purchased this game for the pc, enjoy it quite a lot and have a small group of people I run through a co-op movie on expert with every couple of days or so. I also enjoy versus quite a bit when the people don't leave.

As of now, the majority of the game is co-op and basically the demo writ large. I enjoyed the demo, I enjoy the game.

As for the versus though, valve really needs to come up with some way to compel people not to play for 5 minutes or until they stop being infected and then leave, whichever comes first. I have had the majority of my versus games go south for precisely this reason. Someone plays the infected through a round, leaves and then no doubt finds another server to repeat the process on. If you press on and try to play through all the temporary people who shuffle through the game, you get to a point when no more show up.

With less infected popping up and the ai controlled survivors keeping up well it becomes less than fun for the infected since they are much less able to wreak havoc and arguably less fun for the survivors, as it suddenly stopped being nearly as challenging as it was with four infected.

If Valve can solve this sociological problem then I could be happy playing this game for a very, very long time.

Some sort of rating system that kept track of how you do and paired you up against people who are around your level would be nice. Oh, and put all the people who only stay for 5 minutes in games with each other.

I don't think the random witches are all that game breaking. I am used to playing on the more difficult co-op settings and so when I come across them in versus they feel like paper tigers.

If the game were scripted as far as where weapons were located as well as the witch spawns, it would in favor of the people who played the infected the first round. They would know the weapon spawns and go right for them, as well as stock up on molotovs for the tank they knew would be spawning. They could throw down the fire right where he popped, when he popped and book it. He wouldn't have a chance.

It would, however, be nice if the director noticed the scores and threw the occasional extra witch at the people who were winning, or even hid or withheld the random weapons you come across.

I also see no mention of the broken animations or purple textures when alt-tabbing the game.

I do not recommend ever alt-tabbing from a valve game. They just don't take it well.

When I say party hats I am talking about any mods that contribute nothing at all to gameplay or atmosphere. The specific mod put party hats on tf2 classes and when medics died confetti and a unicycle would inexplicably pop out.

It would be so nice to be able to filter these out so I never had to see them.

I very much enjoy the game, but wish valve would hurry up and do something about this. I am not looking forward to playing against the inevitably party-hatted infected that are no doubt being cooked up by people at this moment.

I really hope that anyone here who is hosting a server has not specified difficulty or co-op/vs. These settings seem to play a merry hell on the people trying to enjoy the game, as the difficulty level must be reset at every checkpoint if the group wishes to play a harder or easier game than the admin has preset it to be. Also, it would appear that if you attempt to play co-op on an admin specified versus server you will run into no special infected and after your first round you will be playing special infected against a quarry that never shows up.

Valve apparently intended their servers to be created as blank slates, but seem to have neglected to inform admins of this.

The servers are a mess. It would be nice to be able to filter vanilla servers with no preset info on them and ignore all the rest. I have been on some where music was piped in and played on top of the game and could not be turned off or down. So freaking annoying!

All Valve has done here is the equivalent of putting a heartrate monitor on a guy watching a movie. Sure, that tells you when the subject is excited and when calm, but what that tells you about how you should plot your movie is another question entirely.

Well, no of course it doesn't tell you how you should plot your movie, but it is hard data that can be used by people who have experience in storytelling to create scenarios that have palpable tension.

I have encountered a few of these during the game and was on the edge of my seat. Once a tank attacked my friends and I and had killed 3 people and was gunning for our last. The 3 of us cheered him on as he limped across the bridge towards safety, the tank on his tail. A smoker latched onto him from above the safe room caboose but he managed to kill it before it dragged him and inched inside. It was definitely a moment that will stay with me for a long time.

It is not a perfect system and there is room for improvement. Fortunately it was made by Valve. These guys know a thing or two about honing games, both pre and post release.

I remember making a detonate dispenser key for team fortress classic. You would get a message that an enemy was using it, hit that and they died. Good times.

I tried to configure a suicide key but my config.cfg reverts back to what it is on steamcloud apparently. How did you add your kill key?

I've been on a couple servers where my friends and I want to play on Advanced, but the server's set to Expert. So we do a vote and change to Advanced. But every map change, it switches back to Expert.

I have encountered this! Very annoying, my friends and I are going along thinking everything is going a well and then realize that it is only on advanced.

I am completely digging the random things people say every once in a while. I would repeat the memorable one for me, but don't want to spoil anyone's experience.

I spawned as a tank in versus on the top of the hospital and whalloped the last guy clean off the roof. Home run!

I am a little annoyed that the other people talking in teamchat seem to be linked to the game sound overall. There does not seem to be a way to turn them up against the game sound if it is already at max input. This may be due to my onboard sound though. Anyone have the same problem, or even a solution?
