Yes, especially casual games like this one. It was a dumb oversight on their part.

Might get lynched by fanboi's, but I thought the single player campaign's story was actually short, generic, and boring.

Multiplayer is what this game is built on.

You fight the same 3 enemies literally the entire game.

The ending was one of the most anticlimatic I remember since Syndicate.

GOTY...not close.

I played through the first one and did not regret it, but after seeing mediocre reviews and being underwhelmed by the demo, I decided to skip the second.

I was kind of disappointed with the first one in one aspect however, and that was that the demo was so awesome I bought the game...just to find out the demo level was the best part of the game. Was kind of like seeing all the best parts of a movie in the trailer.

Might as well call this Warhammer 40K The Cartoon Online.

The 40k universe is one of the most vicious and brutal I've seen after reading a good 50 of the novels, this game's art direction is a joke.

My five favorite games of all time are:

Elder Scrolls: Arena
Ultima 7
Privateer
Syndicate
Tie Fighter

The only one still being made is Elder Scrolls, but would like to see each and every one of them again.

3. Re: Game Reviews Jul 29, 2010, 13:00 JohnBirshire

No, not yet. Those usually come after all the major publications have had their turn.

My only real gripes so far is that the load times are hefty, and the difficulty scale for the single player campaign is terrible. With the second hardest difficulty the missions are so easy I'm bored, but when I bump it up to the hardest difficulty I find them to be impossible. Then again, the single player campaign might keep me busy for a week, but I might be playing multiplayer for years, so the single player is almost irrelevant in the grand scheme. Otherwise, I haven't put in enough time to give it a full review as of yet, and neither has anybody else that wants to give it an *honest* review.

Anybody who has posted a review so far just wants to be one of the first to do so for reader traffic, they couldn't possibly have played it long enough single player/online to give it an accurate assessment.

Is this another remake that will be in development for 10 years and has a 10% chance of actually being finished and released?

Website sucks and has no decent pictures of anything they are selling, which is only a dozen things, most of which is crap. To get the only decent item they have, Frostmourne, you pay $100s more than it should cost and you have to wait for months to receive it.

What is this crap?

Some books based on games are actually really good. *unlike movies*

The Hellgate:London trilogy novels and the first Mass Effect novel were great.

It's not going to blow your mind away, but it is what it is supposed to be, a nod to the old school RPGs many of us grew up playing. It's worth checking out.

News Comments > Pirates of the Burning Sea: Power & Prestige Open Beta
4. Re: Pirates of the Burning Sea: Power & Prestige Open Beta Jul 9, 2010, 19:48 JohnBirshire

I bought it and played it for a month until it was time to pay for another month.

Altogether, I thought it was extremely boring. I believe I read through 12 books in the time I played it. Combat consisted of speeding up to the other ship, sailing into a parallel position, matching speed, setting guns to autofire, and then reading ten pages. Rinse, repeat. Hundreds of times.

The PvP was horribly unbalanced, and was only minutely more involved or interesting than the PvE. The large port battles were fun the first two, until I quickly realized they all became nothing but both sides sailing single file with their broadsides pointing towards each other until one side tried to retreat.

Being a pirate was pointless because every merchant you attacked would dump all their cargo the second you engaged them, which certainly wasn't worth the 4 hours you spent camping the port waiting for someone without an escort to come by.

I'd only bother trying it if you were hardcore into excel spreadsheet trading, or for some reason were drawn to the historical period.

Why is Roger Ebert talking about video games?

I don't talk about Scuba Diving.

Why?

Cause I don't know shit about Scuba Diving.

This guy needs to shut the fuck up.

Does the multiplayer weekend include campaign co-op? Or just deathmatch type gameplay?

Loved the First and Second Encounters *Serious Sam 2 sucked*, was glad to see them rereleased.
