Do people really own 30" monitors? I have a 17" and it works just fine, thank you very much.

What is that? I can't hear you back there in 1999 :p

Seriously though, larger monitors have come way down in price in recent years. Also the switch to LCD and improvements in LCD tech means that you no longer need a super desk 9000 to hold a decent sized screen. I don't have a 30", but I have owned a Dell 2407FPW rev3 since 2007ish (iirc) and love it. No way could I go back to a 17". I don't even know anyone with a screen that small anymore.

Not that you need to switch. If you like yours keep it. Just saying that I think you are in the minority anymore.

Wrong, I have played it, the 14 days trial. And I have seen what this game offers and it isn’t much at all.

As I said, you guys have been taken in by the name of Blizzard, they were counting on the name of Starcraft to make sales, it wouldn’t have mattered if the game is good or not. You all still jumped without looking first.

I didn't get 'taken' by anyone. I got StarCraft 2 and have had a blast with it. I loved the campaign and I had tons of fun playing it online (and on LAN *gasp* though yes we still had to login to B.net). I got more than my money's worth. In fact I would rank it as one of my best gaming buys of the year. This wasn't the best year for gaming, but it still says something. You may not like it, but I couldn't care less. It doesn't mean anyone got "taken in" by something. You seam to have confused your opinion with fact.

5. Re: Fable III PC Delayed, Villager Maker Launched Aug 2, 2010, 22:40 MattyC

While this could very well be to improve 360 sales, you do realize that this could also be a delay to make sure the PC verison of the game is well... a good PC game and not an icky console port? I see no reason why they should have to push a shovel ware PC version out the door just so people don't nerd rage if it isn't out the same day as the 360 version.

Again it could also be bunk to move 360 copies. I am not totally discounting what you are saying, but c'mon that isn't the ONLY POSSIBLE reason a PC version could be released after a console one.

I was a casual player of Starcraft back in the day. The sequel feels identical to the first. After an hours play I nearly forgot I was playing a new game. Can someone more familiar with the series tell me what exactly is new in this sequel beyond the graphics upgrades?

I'm all for sequels sticking true to the originals especially today where old franchises are butchered, but this seems so close to be a near remake of the first.

Did you play the single player at all? I mean it is very different... in a good way. Also a lot of sub sections were added like the challenges. If you mean multiplayer only then it is mostly just slight tweaks. However there are several new units and some classic ones perform differently. Obviously the new matchmaking is drastically different. Is it radically different (aside from the campaign)? No, but "I nearly forgot I was playing a new game" just sounds like you haven't played SC2 at all. Or at the very most all you did was skirmish vs the AI.

Ferrari with only an automatic transmission.

Funnily enough this has been brought up in the car world, and has been mentioned to be likely in the future. How things can change =)

Actually it has already been done. Quite some time ago. It was supposedly pretty good too. I think this was the first mass produced (by Ferrari standards anyway):

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ferrari_456

Anyway from the sound of things it is as much an ATI issue as it is a Blizzard one. However, it really won't impact your enjoyment of the game all that much. If it does... well then don't buy it until it gets fixed. And seek help :p How you made it though the early days of 3D gaming if something as smooth looking as SC2 bothers you I have no idea

Not sure I would have much need of that in browser. Then again before I was addicted to Mac spaces and expose I didn't see that much of a need for it either. Now I love it and it actually annoys me to use Windows backward window management as a result. I would imagine this could end up being the same way. Even if it doesn't, glad to see them trying something new and it does look spiffy.

"Under $500"? I only tried a few, but they all seem to be well over $500. E.g. The HP 5102 they list at $415. Well it is $774 even from their own link. It is on sale, but that sale takes it down to $660, not really that near $415. Similar story with the Acer. Maybe some of the others were more accurately listed, but I decided the article wasn't properly written and stopped bothering.

That being said, I picked up a netflix disc (because I can) and I have to ask... WTF are you people watching? I tested their streaming library years ago when it was first introduced and let me tell you something, it hasn't improved at all. Scores of nameless 80's movies better left forgotten, and the "HD" sucks ass.

The HD looks fine to me on the 360. Never tried it on the PS3. It scales down if your internet connection can't support it. Do you have enough pipe?

Also Netflix has a decent selection of movies and TV available to stream. It isn't mind blowing, but it is plenty solid. Just looking right now I can see Zombieland, Heat, Memento, most of the Futurama 'movies', seasons of Top Gear (though I think they only have up to 11), Firefly/Serenity, Donnie Brasco, The Big Lebowski, SLC Punk etc. And I wasn't even looking, that is just things that were on the Watch Instantly page you see after logging in. Have you tried rating movies so it knows what you like and what to show you? People have pretty varied taste in movies, you can't just expect it to know what you want to see. You have to rate a reasonable amount of films so it can pull things you like up for you.

I played a decent bit of the beta and wasn't impressed. It isn't a bad game, but it is very arcady. It doesn't feel or play anything like BC2 (which wasn't exactly super-sim to start with). I really don't see it doing all that well, but who knows. It seems conflicted. All that "T1 operator realism" stuff that was talked about vs the gameplay which is very casual-shooter. Again, not a bad game, but nothing impressive either.

Nope The map preview looked exactly like official one - even placement of ore was identical - except his was 600000 and ours was 1. Granted in my first attempt at battle.net i had neither seen the custom map indicator nor thought it odd that it downloaded something

I could see how that would happen, I was just curious. There can be some mean people on there :p Two adds a co-op feature vs the AI that can be pretty fun. The AI on the highest level could be a bit tougher if you ask me, but overall it leads to some fun vs computer with you and your buddies as a team if you don't want to deal with super competitive people. That said, after you have played a few games it usually does a good job of pairing you with similarly skilled players in vs.

For those that BUY into this idea, fuck you, you are only adding fuel to the fire. I do NOT think that piracy is the answer, but until game companies relinquish their Darth Vader like death grip on the industry I will continue to pirate their games.

What is this joke high road you are taking? If you don't want to support certain game companies that is fine. I get that. However you don't go and PIRATE the game then. You just don't play it. What you are doing is silly. "Those game companies all suck and so do their products. I mean I am still going to play them, but I mean I am not going to PAY for them". If you want to vote with your wallet, that is awesome. You aren't doing that though. You are just being a jerk and trying to come up with excuses that justify pirating games. Then you, laughably, pretend you are taking the high road while doing so...

My only attempt at playing starcraft seriously online was with a dude who named his own map an official one where i and my 3 team mates started without ore and he with infinite ore.

You didn't notice a different map preview, different map text, the fact that you had to download the map to start, or the fact that you were playing a custom game?

SO is it any good then? Anyone?

I really enjoyed the beta. I was pretty much always planning on picking the game up, but my time in the beta moved me from "wait for a sale" to "preorder and snag it on launch day". It won't change RTS gameplay forever or anything like that, but it is a fun and solid game. And I can go for that. Heck even in beta it is more stable and balanced than a good many release RTS games I have played.

Eh, it stands out more at Blues, but it just seems to be PC gaming culture now. Sucks, because I too am getting tired of it. Seems to be the way it is now. Maybe I just have on some particularly dark rose-tinted glasses, but it seems PC gamers as a whole weren't always overly negative dbags...

The worst part is you can't even get a feel for a game anymore. Doesn't matter if the game is great or awful, 300 jerks will be posting in every thread online about how "If this game was paper it would be a waste of poop to wipe my ass with it WTF!".

Incorrect. Yet again.

Post something useful then. If he's incorrect, correct him. Your sig is bigger than your waste of time posts.

What you added at the end there isn't the same thing as "SP all online all the time". I thought you just said you played the beta? If so you should know that while it isn't 100% functional yet, the offline mode options do show up and they have said it will have an offline mode.

You should already know this if you are in the beta.

At least it's not as bad as requiring Steam. If something goes wrong with steam's automatic updates when you launch a game, there's simply no way to play it. In theory Steam has an offline mode, but you have to be LOGGED IN ONLINE to switch to offline mode.

That isn't true. When my net goes down I can still start up Steam and play games. It says something about it can't connect and then offers to go into offline mode. Same thing with GFWL saves, you don't have to be online for that. Both games I have for that I also picked up off Steam (DoW2 and FO3, as mentioned before) and I have been able to play and save both without an internet connection.
