I do get free release day delivery with Amazon vs. 3-day UPS with NewEgg, but it won't matter to me. I'll be out of town next week and not returning home until late next Sunday, so I won't be home to get the package on the 11th anyway.

How did you get release day delivery?

I canceled my Amazon pre-order yesterday because they were still telling me my delivery would be Nov 17-21. Ordered on Steam instead for only 50 cents more. (actually, even cheaper since there's no delivery charge)

The only benefit I could see from the box version was getting a physical manual (which I like) and a map. However, waiting an extra week to get that stuff isn't worth the value of instant gratification the night Nov 10-11.

That didn't happen to me at all. I tranqed guys in the head on a several occasions and still got the Pacifist achievement.

Some gang members in Detroit do die if you shoot them in the head with tranqs for some reason. I know the one outside that apartment for the dirty cop quest does. I got the pacifist achievement anyway though, so I think it is just a label error.

Ooh. Good to know. I've been reloading the game every time one of my knockouts show as dead instead.

They need to fix the "Pacifist" badge.

Having it count during the opening non-augmented level is bogus. There are no melee weapons in the game or option for a knockout, so your only choice is to sneak past the bad guys.

What kind of Chief of Security avoids a fight when people are attacking his company? I felt like such a coward having to sneak by those guys.

Also, it's really frustrating to find that after hours of sneaking around you don't get the badge because of a bug that causes knocked-out NPCs to be killed instead. (In my testing, it appears that Tranq shots to the shoulders and above kill instead of knockout.)

Also, fyi this is like a 4gb+ update download in STEAM...

What?! That's crazy; it was only a 156MB patch for the store-bought version. I have both expansions installed and was fully patched before this new one went live.

Any spoilers in the trailer? I feel like I've seen too much already from all the other footage of the game that's been released so far.

Depends on your definition of Spoiler. Remember the cute robots in the first Portal? This movie just shows two new types being built.

I'm bummed after hearing people say they have no trouble. I'm still in Goodsprings, and the game crashes frequently. Either CTD or just locks up PC requiring a reboot.

I'm running a Quad Core, 4GB RAM, and dual GeForce GTX 460s, (not running SLI though, since apparently Civ V doesn't like SLI). I'm also still running XP SP3. Could that be the issue?

I'm in my 40s and until recently, I've never even heard of anyone NOT using the fly. Unless you're hung like a horse or like a flea (and can't find it), there's no reason NOT to use the fly. It's super convenient. Wearing BDU's*, suits, jeans or shorts, it's far easier to use the fly.

* I guess the latest Army uniforms are called ASU's or something.

Civ V is eating up wayyy too much of my time this weekend, but there are a few things I wish they didn't change. Like removing the clock in the upper right. The limited number of maps is something I hope will change as patches come out.

The no-stacking rule for non-combat units eliminates using extra workers to speed improvements.

The only real annoyance is the constant "trade route broken" messages when there's nothing wrong with the route. Full network of roads between cities and my Capitol and yet every couple of turns: "route broken" followed by "route connected".

Heh. Page 56. The soldiers salute with their left arms. Oops! (I bet an editor flipped the graphic)

I'm enjoying these comics, but Zoey is *much* hotter than the way they're drawing her.

Civ IV just doesn't cut it anymore. I look forward to no more stacks of dooooom!

Have you tried all the mods that came with Civ IV? I just tried Age of Ice. Found it interesting, and an adjustment to gameplay. Archers can bombard ALL tiles around them at once, and catapults can fight and win like regular units. (they're given a large retreat chance based on their health) Although, it's a story-driven game, not a normal conquer the world Civ IV game.

What's the Zoom level on SC II? Is it Supreme Commander-like or Red Alert 3-like?

I've come to passionately hate restricted zoom. I only play Single Player RTS, and I can't stand the AI seeing the whole battlefield at once while I'm restricted to not even being able to see my entire base.

Microprose manuals were AWESOME. M1 Tank Platoon and Silent Hunter II come immediately to mind. (Both games were fantastic also) I loved all the extra historical and technical info those manuals had.

The only good Ghost Recon was the first one, along with its two expansions. Don't like what they did with the series after that.

Good luck avoiding spoilers! I saw the midnight IMAX showing. If you liked IM1 you should like this one as well. Good music, one-liners and plenty of action.

"They studied 20 years of records and found that the number of heart attacks dipped on the Monday after clocks moved back an hour. Moving clocks ahead in the spring had the opposite effect. There were more heart attacks in the week after springing forward — especially during the first three days of the week."

No surprise there. It's easier and causes zero stress to get an extra hour of sleep. It's very stressful when you lose sleep, and it's difficult to make it up if you already have a busy/stressful life that limits your sleep in the first place.

I hate, hate, hate turning back the clocks in winter though. I would much rather have that extra hour of sun in the afternoon instead of in the morning.

Damn. I was really looking forward to this game; didn't realize this was an Ubi game and therefore ruined by their stupid DRM.

I've already decided not to buy the next Splinter Cell, even though I enjoy that series, and now I guess I'll pass on R.U.S.E. also.

It's bad enough when the disc checks tell me I have the wrong/no disc in the drive, even when it's correct, but this new crap they're pulling is too far.
