Well you see, that's the idea behind Steam. It delivers the content to you. You don't so much download it as it gets pushed to you. I was in an earlier beta and before I could blink it had filled my hard drive with like 500MB of stuff. I'm pretty sure it won't be that quick but they've got good pipes.

Two possibilities |

A) It will be an interesting departure from traditional MMORPG fare and show innovation and use the popular MYST Universe. It could have potential.
B) It's another publisher who sees the promise of charging $$$ every month and just tacks on a popular name (former best selling game of all time) and makes another crappy game, then wonders why no one likes it.
Are the original designers (any of them) working on this one?

That, or perhaps they just can't edit video for crap. Or maybe the video was done at the behest of the publisher who can think "action only".
I see what you're saying though. If they wanted us to think this was something other than "guy with gun runs around, kills things, then leaves" then they didn't accomplish that with this trailer at all.
This makes me more intrigued to play Metroid Prime (and privately ashamed that my favorite title at the moment is on a console).

More specifically, it comes from his egomania, the fact that he tends to attack people who ask questions about bugs in his games, his PhD from a degree mill, etc.
True, some of it comes from people who just didn't like his games. Battlecruiser 3000AD (eventually) ran like he wanted it to, but a number of people didn't like it. A number of people don't like Chess - doesn't make it a bad game per se. EvilGoof doesn't like UT2K3, doesn't make it a bad game per se.
And this (the fact that anonymous people lambast everything a developer might say when defending himself) is the reason most "important" developers won't post or say much. Carmack talks on Slashdot - sometimes. Most developers won't. I must give some credit though - whenever Zoid or George from 3D Realms post on Shacknews people are usually pretty nice, and when they're not these developers usually have a decent sense of humor about it.

Well as I said the graphics are really good and I presume when played right the game has promise - plus I must commend them on the gumption to do a PC port.
But if it came down to this on an Xbox (yeah I know its not the full game) or Metroid Prime on a GameCube (which I got for Xmas from The Wife last week) I'd take MP any day.

What does it say about this game... |

...that it took me twenty minutes to install and beat the demo. Guns a blazin'? At least if you tried that in Metal Gear Solid you'd get killed - here you can.
Oh well, haven't uninstalled it yet - I'll try stealth tonight. Perhaps that will be more fun.
Good graphics, though. This gives me a sliver of (false) hope that DOOM III won't require an upgrade on my part.

Unless I-Mockery has permission, methinks they'll be sued by the makers of Dig-Dug (Namco), Rampage (Midway), Powerpuff Girls and Domo-Kun.
On a related note - this "style" of art - low pixel count, low color count - is something I'm seeing a lot of recently, like in the comic Diesel Sweeties (http://www.dieselsweeties.com/) and the website for the unfortunately named group Golden Shower (http://www.goldenshower.gs/ - Safe for work). Is it really just editing images in low resolution with a low color pallete and then blowing it up, or is there a trick to how to do it so well? Anyone know?

Some are mad that the Adventure Game is dead.
Some are mad that Sierra dishes out perpetual rehashes of Half-Life (which is of course more a fault of Valve since they've clammed up).
Some are mad that Sierra/Dynamix botched Tribes 2 (especially if they suffered through the initial release at full price).
Some are mad that Sierra cancelled "game X" (Babylon 5, Half-Life for Dreamcast).
Really though ultimately people are mad that a beloved icon of their youth is now merely a software label entrenched in a corporate mess and that what was popular in their youth is gone (i.e., the Quest series of games). Sometimes people want to rebel against something.

It was Roberta and Ken Williams...What ever happened to them? They sold Sierra to Vivendi in 1996. Roberta's last game with Sierra was the eighth King's Quest game Mask of Eternity, following which she promptly decided to take some time off. Mask of Eternity proved to be a disappointing game, critcially and sales wise, due to a largely misdirected attempt to bring the Adventure Game genre into 3-D (the game had more melee than puzzle solving).
Ken left shortly after Sierra was sold to form WorldStream Communications.
Roberta still keeps up with the adventure game scene and reportedly still flirts with the idea of coming out of retirement, but has yet to do so (the latest interview I could find with her is dated 1999).
