Mission accomplished!

al akhbar

It's a trap!

Yes, I said get as close as you can to those Star Destroyers and engage them at point blank range!

Don't worry, my friend's down there. He'll have that shield down in time... Or this'll be the shortest offensive of all time.

Your fleet is lost... and your friends on the Endor moon will not survive.

That's no moon!

They've gone to plaid!

I'll pick up Forced Unleashed when it's on the cheap too. Just some of the kills in that video look entertaining for F.U. II

It definitely IS worth a peek at this vid. The gameplay they show is looking good. I'm glad I don't motion sickness.

..and man, Unleashed II looks freaking good O_O They show a bit much - I eventually skipped ahead with all the spoilers they where dropping, but now I'm suddenly interested in hearing how that game turns out.

I'll answer any stereo vision questions I see come up in this thread.

I despise 3D movies (still poor gimmick to me), would I like 3D vision? I mostly play RPG's and MP FPS games.

Probably not that great for MP. The glasses add to immersion. They're a little distracting if you're trying to get the best score you can get in a MP match, though some people love them with Left 4 Dead.

For a first person RPG like Fallout 3, they're bad ass.

Let me add that hardware wise you'll want a card with plenty of VRAM and a wide memory bus. My GTX280 seems to be at the lower end of running current games smoothly. On the plus side the process provides a sort of poor-man's FSAA, so you don't need to crank it up very high. 2X will do you, and anything higher then 4X is really unnecessary. Having it off almost looks as good as 2X.

I've used stereo 3-d in the past when I had a CRT that could do 120hz. When that monitor died the flat pannel era had kicked in so I had to ditch 3D till now. It was tough switching back to pure 2D. I had run through Half-Life and Alice in stereo, those where some awesome experiences.

I don't know why some people are so adverse to it, and others aren't. I guess it comes down to taste, and how comfortable you are with the whole deal. I'll say these new nvidia shutter glasses, I can set the 3-D settings way higher then I used to.

Also if you see this being demo'ed in a store, they usually have the 3-D depth turned down to the minimum. It's easier on the eyes for those who haven't used it before, but it's not as impressive as you can make things look at home. Takes a bit of tweaking of depth and convergence, but you can make the 3-D effect very dramatic.

I got the new LG 1920x1080 monitor and the NVIDIA vision kit. Just having a 120hz monitor alone is a nice upgrade. Everything's much more fluid, even just moving windows around on the desktop. Pays off for all games that don't even run in stereo.

I'll answer any stereo vision questions I see come up in this thread.

Mine where there, though the 3-D portion was fuzzy for some till I had my convergence set up.

I just got my 3D vision setup going last week, and there I was hitting CTRL-T with Knights of the Old Republic booted up wondering why nothing was happening -_-

Forgot all about that being OpenGL. They even have it listed as "Excellent" in the 3D Vision compatibility chart.. bastards.

My god though.. Dragon Age and Mass Effect are amazing in 3D.

Dragon Age went into development shortly after Neverwinter 1 was released. DND 4 was a ways off yet. Though I think I faintly remember mention of working with Wizards of the Coast to be a pain in the ass.

I put a box down next to the little wheel and just stood there and spun it in one pass.

The things that scared me most was stressing over running out of lamp oil. I have my monitor / brightness settings to a very "atmospheric level".

Cool demo.

We admit that the episodic idea didn't pan out as expected, that's why we've taken a new dynamic shift with the Half-Life series! No more Episode 3, say hello to Half-Life: Mine Craft (pt1)! Now you can play in a dynamic open world while we take half a lifetime to make the next installment!

Gordon Freeman finds himself in a strange Xen landscape, where he'll need to craft crowbars and other useful items and weapons to survive the night.

Dig and dig while you search for Alex buried somewhere deep in on of the uniquely generated mountains!

No, I'm talking about this game here:

lol, ok.. carry on.

I googled it as I was curious where indie games are at, and the funny thing is that site has a "Pre-order coming soon" announcement.

If you like indie games, that's all well and good. I totally respect that.. but is THIS the game you're talking about?
http://www.locknloadgame.com/userimages/hos_5.jpg

I mean sure, if you're into it that's great. I -will- take Dragon Age II over that though, personally.

I certainly hope the way of the future isn't indie games, with cell phone games and browser games bringing up the rear. Major games are more mainstream now, sure.. but I'll take that over World of Farmsville.

------

I'm on the fence at this point about DA II. As long as they do keep the tactical combat, and the toolset I'm not sweating it too much.

Sucks they limited the race to just human, and this is not the DA II I would have preferred.. I would have liked a grand sequel that -expanded- on the gameplay of the first one, not narrows it. But there's still every chance this will be fun.

We'll see.
