My only concern with this game is I believe it's being done by a whole new development team.. if it was the same team who did the first one Id have it pre-ordered.
Doesn't mean it can't still be awesome.. but I'll wait for some word of mouth... or, well.. fingers... I guess. |

Very solid game, I agree. Good atmosphere and immersion for me when I played it.
If you use VSync, remember not to set it in the game's video options. If you use your driver's control panel to lock VSync instead you'll get -much- smoother frame rates. There's a lot of other more elaborate fixes for that problem, but just doing that solves it. |

Arma needs a good CPU, not just a good GPU. If you've upgraded both since then you'll probably be pretty pleased with it in it's current state.
I'm still using an old Intel Wolfdale dual-core, and I'm not buying any of the new expansions and DLC till I upgrade that despite having a REALLY beefy video card setup. I know once the AI kicks in in a firefight my frames are going to drop no matter what.
Edit - Keep in mind there's an Operation Arrowhead demo too. There's been some big patches since it, but it's not -too- far behind the current build. |

Yes, provided 4.03a hits today like everyone thinks its going to... Yes... Mr. Axe Murderer (Scotish Martial Artist) is going off something that hasn't been confirmed.. Last week a GM was asked a question that lead him to saying the new content will be up on Tuesday. It was screenshoted and uploaded to a popular WoW site, but... the GM could have been in error, or just pulling that out of thin air. It's the equivelant of a customer support rep telling you the release date of Windows 8.
Last night the servers went down at their normal maintenance time, and they're coming back up at their usual. Typicaly when they add a huge patch the servers are down for longer.
BUT.. there's still a lot of little evidence here and there that the new content could go up today...
...so, we'll see. |

Actually.. I have to say, that particular line is so bad it's good. I've laughed a few times at that one.
The rest.. yeah.. there's like one good voice actor out of the bunch. |

This announcement's mostly fluff, but games can have rendering problems in stereo mode (shadows not rendering correctly, skyboxes at wrong depth, reflections not rendering correctly etc). Most don't, they're just saying they've adhered to making the game look right in 3-D.
But yeah, the effect is what it is.. it's not like anyone gonna say, "Hey that's so much MORE 3-D than THAT game..." *boggle*
Good to know in advance though, it's nice for us who use it when the game has no issues. |
