News Comments > Only ⅔ of Players Pay to Game
31. Re: Only ⅔ of Players Pay to Game May 18, 2010, 17:34 creatorswhim

If you read the report, they don't even mention consoles. They are extrapolating their data from iPod/iPhone apps and flash websites.

That's some seriously weird sampling for the PC game market.

Linux gamers: the fourth column.

No, the Wii is the fourth column. Linux gaming is the idiot manchild they keep chained up in the basement.

Seriously, Mark Rein needs to see the $$$ before he can do anything.

I'm glad somebody is looking out for all these imaginary problems. I suppose we can only look forward to a $59.99 Wii transfer cable, or the $39.99 Madkatz version that only works 2/3 of the time.

"Capitol news! But the excellent puzzle adventure Portal won over 40 Game of the Year awards; Surely it must cost at least five or six hundred dollars."

Only if Steve Jobs were selling it.

it appears Civ V will have DLC of the worst kind, the kind that takes away content from the game.

it's more like an incentive to buy the fancy version than "taking away content" at this point.

Are you someone who refused to buy Civ IV because they saved some of the "content" for the expansions? Or did you wait until it was all a $20 bundle?

All of us hate the UT3 engine, and yet this engine, bugs and all, gets recycled over and over again in new games. Why?! Why?!

Because it's already been paid for?

17. Re: Fallout MMOG Lawsuit Dropped Apr 22, 2010, 20:57 creatorswhim

Well, this ruling just clears up the fact that Interplay has the MMO rights and Bethesda (or Zenimax, really...) just needs to hand them a bag of money in exchange for them.

Let's just hope Sony doesn't get there first.

As far as I can tell, the argument boils down to this: Roger Ebert says that an activity that consists of making a series of choices cannot be art, and all the people decrying his opinion say that an activity that produces a variety of results for different choices can be considered art.

Is that right?

Alex St. John is quite the expert on parasites. I wonder how many people still have Wildtangent "adware" installed?

Ruffiana the VERY first video ever shown of CoH had a character running, then jumping onto a roof then flying away. As he jumped onto the building and flys away you see his shadow against the roof of the building.

PSO had that. On the Dreamcast.

Somehow, I don't think that's the entirety of the graphics update.

Obviously you hate Bill Roper, but it SEEMS to me you don't have any actual investment in any of their games.

Also, there is no such thing as "DLC" in an MMO.

Maybe your comment was a ridiculous over-generalization, which is also not exactly rare on Bluesnews.

Literally, they need to make a checkbox that comes up when you want to undock that says "Leaving the station is a dangerous act and may result in the destruction of your ship and your possible pod-killing. Are you sure you want to do this crazy thing?"

I'm not exactly thrilled about the constant presence of PVP in EVE, but I like the game and I just deal with it. Maybe I spent too much time living in the inner city, but any weird situation in EVE is almost always avoidable.

Or maybe EVE allows me to justify my paranoia and that's why I like it.

Yeah, seriously. Activision did them a solid favor by letting them out of their contracts. Now they are free to make what they want of their lives, instead of serving the anti-EA.

I don't see how a game can't be more work than fun if you lose everything every time you die like in EVE.

That's not EVE at all, unless you are so stupid and spend all your money on upgrades you can't use and fly around like the other players owe you something and are king of your own head.

What game are you really playing? The "vague complaint about a game that I'm to lazy to actually play" game?
