I can see that the headache of 4-year development cycles and multiple teams drove them to do this. I only wonder how long before ZeniMax decides to sell out to EA or Activision.
I hope id got a prenup. |

| I don't really think I would use the term "free will" to describe the motions of the player in Bioshock. It's more like you get to ad lib as the script drags you along. |

Do they mean the Wii audience? Is Rage even coming to the Wii? EA just wants Rage to be "E for everbody" don't they?
I can see it now: "Spore: Rage - race your adorable creations on an alien planet" or "SimRage: Cuteness pack - Now your sims can take a day job as a driver in Rage and you get cute ducky and bunny decals for your pink car."

| So, if the games are cheaper through the sell back feature, who is going to pay for the full price game? There will be huge waiting lists for sell back copies and no one buying at the Marketplace price. |

| Oh, so they're just opening an office there to avoid paying US taxes on overseas profits? That license money will buy a lot of kimchi. |

This is interesting... ZeniMax is privately owned, and since it's a "merger" and not a "buyout" maybe id will be uncompromised.
Then again, we have to remember that Quake Live is the future as Carmack sees it, so who knows what's at the bottom of that rabbit hole? |

the only problem with that is, if the Fed's rating drops below AAA, everybody's rating drops below AAA and the whole thing caves in.
The whole "eventually" thing means that they want to put the AAA rating on China "eventually." However, China still has billions of dollars invested in the U.S. and so that AA rating is going to hurt China more than it hurts you. |

DCUO? Don't you mean "Everquest with tights?"
Marvel? That movie production company? Are they going to license a superhero game? Last I heard, they were too busy making money on action movies to bother with the MMO business.
I'm amazed at you haters coming in here to forecast doom just because your ass still hurts from last time Bill Roper promised you something. I hope none of you ever have to deal with real peoples and real disappointment. |

Honestly I have no clue what Champions Online has to offer (will find out later today) but at this point in time, if it offers a balanced gameplay experience and gets rid of this stupid easy farming issues that face CoH/CoV I'm all for it. Well I agree with you that MA is nothing but a headache. Except for SG night, it's CoH vacation time for me.
I'm harboring a healthy skepticism about CO, especially since they've got a release date in about 7 weeks and are still goofing around with closed beta. Then again, Jack Emmeret is running the show so anything could happen. If it's too much fun, he can always nerf it later. |

Whenever CoH is mentioned here, someone always says it has "the worst grind" which makes no sense to me because I spent 3 years playing PSO and only got to 183 (halfway xp-wise to the cap of 200) and at one time spent 2+ hours a night for over three months grinding for a hat in RO. (which I never got)
My first character in CoH got to 50 in one year of casual play, my second got there in 12 weeks of less casual play and my third took 2 weeks. After that I stopped bothering to get characters to 50.
What is it you find especially grindy about ye olde CoH?

Why is everyone saying "sign me up" for a Redneck Rampage MMO? If that's what you are after can't you just move to the south? No, the south is all suburbia now. Where there were trailer parks, now there are massive developments mostly consisting of foreclosed houses.
I don't see the value of this unless they plan a "Redneck Rampage: Trailer Park Boys Edition." |

| Wow, you folks who think Eve is complex really amaze me. If you really want your head to explode, you should try Dwarf Fortress. Eve looks like Chutes and Ladders by comparison. |

Yeah... the Japanese don't care much for the PC as a gaming platform (my guess is because they didn't make it). Hopefully they don't treat it like their bastard Euro-American stepchild. The Japanese release hundreds of PC games every year, unfortunately, they're all pornographic. Unlikely to be sold at Wal-Mart, none of them are translated or distributed in the US.
That may be changing, god help us all.
and just for reference, the wiki article. |
