So your argument is that the popularity of a game is a measure of its quality? Forgive me for being unimpressed.

Exactly. If anything the inverse is true.

"Jesus, we need another MMO like we need a hole in the head. Isn't the market saturated already?"

No doubt - how about something different like... hmm..wait, I know! How about a game where you run around and shoot aliens with guns of various types! That'd rule!

no kidding. what happened to having the difficulty of an area keeping someone out until they're high enough to explore it? It's a simple enough idea.

On the other hand, I guess there are cases where the player at skill level 10 might find an area originally scaled at difficulty 5(if the player missed it somehow early on), that would make that area a total throwaway. In cases like that I suppose scaling might be alright, so long as rats or cockroaches aren't unrealistically given superpowers as a result of the scaling.

I guess that's the downside of non-linear gameplay.

News Comments > Gothic 4 Announced

"I LOVED Gothic 1 and 2...but I STILL have Gothic 3 sitting on my hard drive, hoping one day for a patch that makes the game semi-playable. Hell, G3 makes ToEE's retail version look stable. After all, you know a game is in serious need of help when the devs openly admit that to fix the game's problems, the next patch will be OVER ONE GIG. Sad, isn't it?
"

Sadder yet, the latest news on the big G3 patch is that it may not actually see the light of day.

"Are people just now hearing of Beowulf? I mean, you had the 2005 Gerard Butler movie, another one that came out not to long ago for Sci-Fi channle and the new hollywood one with angeline jolie, and now two games?"

And don't forget the prequel for the movie, circa 1000 A.D.

-edit- oh, i guess the post says as much. Serves me right for being monsieur smarty-pants.

"it was microsoft's idea to allow pc gaming to die a slow death and concentrate more on the xbox. dont blame the retailers."

Whose idea was it to come up with the "Games for Windows" campaign then?
