News Comments > MechWarrior Online Founders Packages on Sale
14. Re: MechWarrior Online Founders Packages on Sale Jun 19, 2012, 22:43 TychoCelchuuu

I don't get what everyone is so mad about but whatever. Have fun not playing while the rest of us play for free or pay for a bunch of extra stuff and all that. Just saw an estimate that they've made about $888,000 so far selling this stuff, so I'm sure they're not worried about having "fucked it up bigtime."

Cool. I'm never going to bother (If I don't have the time to sink into Dragon Age proper, I'm not going to bother with a Flash knockoff) but when they took it down because it was "too expensive to run" or something that sounded sort of silly: just let us download it! And now they are letting us download it.

Making the introduction smoother is not the same as making the game dumber. A pool that's 30 feet deep is still 30 feet deep whether someone drops you straight in or leads you slowly down a slope. They're just saying that they dropped players straight in before and that this time they're going to go for a more gradual approach.

I love it when companies hire people who make awesome mods. They've proven that they know how to make a game even better than it was when it came out, so there's not much reason to think they can't just keep on doing that, only this time before it comes out.

What is a "de facto" review of a cheat's effectiveness? I mean, what other kind of review is there?

And he's good in everything too, although it's unfortunate because you start to hear his voice from other things bleed into whatever you're listening. Peter Cullen's the real news here.

This another Fallout3 or Oblivion open type game but more relying on stealth, is that it? Didn't really see any fighting much ala Dark Messiah.
No, it's mission based like Thief or (sort of like) Deus Ex. You can choose to be stealthy like in Thief or sword fighty like in Dark Messiah.

I've heard it's super buggy and just as clunky as ArmA II is, so although it's neat if you're a fan of realism/WW2, it might make sense to hold off until it's not glitch city.

I'm glad that RealmForge has the courage to finally make a game where you play as a generic white guy wearing a hoodie. There's really a lack of those characters in videogames and I'll be really thrilled to get the chance to step inside what I'm sure will be a pretty amazing narrative.

This will probably be like all Bethesda published games: not playable until 6 months after release.
Interesting, considering that both Oblivion and Skyrim were excellent out-of-the-box. I managed hundreds of hours with both, without issue. Still, I don't want that to get in the way of a good moan.
Mad Max probably meant to say "like all Bethesda published games made by other developers." See: Rage, New Vegas, Brink, ...Rogue Warrior.

Riker wrote on May 6, 2012, 15:29:
I'm not sure I see the big deal. It's advertised as DLC, so you know it'll cost extra money to access it. I don't see how it being already available, or already on the disc, makes any difference.
It's a problem because the "D" in "DLC" stands for "downloaded" or "downloadable" or whatever, and the reason it stands for that is because they traditionally couldn't have non-downloaded DLC because it was content released after the game came out, and thus it couldn't be on the disc. So it was fine to pay extra for it because you bought they game, then they made more stuff for it, so you bought that. In this case, they've made them game, then arbitrarily sectioned off some part of it so they can charge you more for it. This makes people annoyed because it's not clear why this stuff couldn't just come with the original game.

Seriously who really cares about Prey 2? I picked up Prey for 4 euros in a bargain bin about a year after it came out. I like the game but I never see any mention of it ...

Are people really waiting to play Prey 2?
Anyone who has been paying the slightest attention to the game before all this crazy stuff started happening was probably super excited. It looked amazing (and nothing like the first Prey, so it doesn't really matter how cheap you bought that game for).

I'm not sure what you're trying to critique here. It looks like content-less stuff for criticizing the developer for some reason. Why even waste time posting this?

This guy's giving everyone the full details of the game as he develops it. Some people like seeing how a game is made: viewing the progress from step one to step seven million. It's not like he's personally emailing the screenshots to you and asking you to comment. If you don't want to see 0x10^c or whatever until it's done, then just ignore it until it's done.

1. Re: Crowdsourced Hardcore Tactical Shooter Becomes TAKEDOWN Mar 26, 2012, 20:25 TychoCelchuuu

Unfortunately this looks like it's too little too late, but at least they're learning their lesson. "Crowdsourced Hardcore Tactical Shooter" was a horrific name. The slick fancy branding and pretty pictures might've helped them gain more momentum early on. Then again those pictures look pretty crummy to me. I'm still 100% behind the idea of the game, though, and it's a shame that this project, at least, isn't looking like it'll see the light of day. There's always Ground Branch, I guess, which has been in development forever but which still seems to be going along.
