I don't care why they use it, PhysX is cool. I'm glad someone's paying developers to make their games cooler. Of course, my computer can't really run it, but it's fun to look at the gameplay videos of the fog in Batman or Mirror's Edge. And perhaps some day in the future my 8800GTS will be a dedicated PhysX processor.

That's not a custom server attack, that was the Lerk's attack in the original version of NS. They took it out because the Lerks were too campy, I think. I doubt they will add Lerklift.

Yeah, this is basically World in Conflict only they managed to take out 80% of the stuff, leaving you with a bunch of generic units (Light Infantry, Heavy Infantry) to move around. None of them seem to have any special abilities or anything and you can't even tell them to move without firing (if you try to get your tanks to attack an AT gun by moving towards it, they will pause every few seconds to fire at any enemies in range, which means the AT gun shreds them). Camera control is pretty limited. If you want World War II, get Men of War or Company of Heroes. If you want this kind of gameplay, get World in Conflict which is much more in-depth (at least compared to the demo for Order of War).

This isn't being made by the original team, it's a bunch of pople who made a crappy mod who negotiated some sort of takeover (according to the blog). To expect this to be good is to expect too much I'm afraid. Still looking forward to seeing what happens though.

Shataan, you;re only bringing up examples of bad companies. Look at games like Men of War, or Zeno Clash, or ArmA II, or Empire: Total War, or the upcoming Tropico 3 or new Monkey Island game or the new Red Orchestra game. PC gaming is awesome if you look at the awesome games.

Forgotten Hope 2 and Project Reality had a big old fight in my brain to determine which one I loved more. They were still fighting when everyone stopped playing FH2, so PR won by default. It's a really awesome mod.

Eh? Since when have secret agents had to worry about pimples and whether or not their voice will break this month? Did I just completely misinterpret what Chris Avellone said there or is the main character of Alpha Protocol going to be a Stormbreaker-esque teenager? Uh yeah you missed the point. It's like that passage from Snow Crash talking about how guys up to a certain point in their lives think that if they just put their minds to it they could be the coolest guy in the world. In Alpha Protocol you play as the super spy that teenagers imagine they could be if they just devoted their lives to it. |
