It is correct! GOG games were certified for VISTA ONLY (Win 7 was NOT OFFICIALLY SUPPORTED).

My opinion about latest GOG days: Guys, cmon, a couple of days without the service is not a nightmare. Remember that the files were instantly available for download until these days. Its not like you cant play the games you bought (which made me think about my 40 steam games).
Lets wait to see. They have already said we could download the games again.
So much anger in this site!

I bought Prototype for the PC, never finished it.
It has several minor bugs the programmers never cared to fix. Biggest one for me was an issue the game has with the Microsoft Sidewinder Mouse. Ran like crap with the mouse attached to the computer and the mouse software installed, the only game I have had this issue with. Only ways for me to get the game to run well were to 1. unplug the mouse totally from the system and plug in an xbox 360 controller to play with (which I found annoying, the unplugging of the mouse not the using of a controller) or 2. go into device manager and disable HID devices, which let the mouse stay attached while you played with no slowdown.
The downside to the second method was that I lost all advanced feature controls for the mouse (user configured sensitivity settings, macros, etc.) with HID devices disabled.

Compared to Prototype, I found Wolverine more fun and the only issue I had with it was to consistently get v-sync to work.
Changing the setting in the config file broke something with the game engine, and caused textures to disappear or become very blurred (the only unreal engine game this has happened to me on), but forcing v-sync through nvidia control panel worked most of the time.
Well, unlike you, I loved Prototype (I love Sandbox games) and hated Wolverine.

Since this is the first game in a while from ubi without the always on DRM, that means I'm a bit interested, I'll try the demo.
I'm not sure why I thought this was a pay monthly, but the steam page doesn't say anything about it being one.

What I really want is to get the Prince of Persia and Settlers games, but I won't be giving ubi money for it until they reduce the DRM (unless steam has a sale for like $5 or so, I'd be willing to risk that much and wait to play when/if they do reduce the DRM).
I played PoP: The Forgotten Sands and finished in 7 hours. The game has a uninspiring storyline, 4 characters including the Prince, boring mechanichs and repetitive gameplay. It has good visuals though. The game is mediocre. I do not recommend it, despite that many are comparing it to Sands of Time, Warrior Within and Two Thrones. Those 3 were very good. And Uni DRM sucks, so I played it on the 360. Do not buy it, you have been warned.

I Love this thread!

1. I love demos, it satisfies my needs to see if its worth it. Take Kane & Lynch 2: I hated it. Mafia 2: Loved it.

2. Piracy: If its worth it I buy it. Simple. Money goes where I really think it has to go. To good developers.

3. Piracy its a problem speccially of you cannot let the people test it. Damn! Make DEMOS!

4. Make good games for gods sake. To say that piracy was the problem due to low earnings is an stupid excuse. The game is probably bad, unfinished, has bad reviews, bad promotion, bad timing, expensive, or had high minimum requirements. StarCraft 2 is the perfect example. There is no excuse to pirate this game.

L4D2 felt too zany and surreal. L4D was closer to a horror survival game with heavy co-op integration. L4D2 felt like just winging around set pieces that were meant to amuse as opposed to scare or create tension.

Agreed.

The only thing I prefer in L4D2 is the gore.
Well I bought it and still didnt played it. I have many games right now that I do not know what to play!! And Im not counting the games that I want to replay...

The perception is that it hurts sales a lot and that perception drives publishers to make their platform support decisions in some form or another.

Actually, piracy is pretty irrelevant. PS3 has zero piracy yet 360 is the lead platform for the vast majority of multiplatform games. This is because 360 games tend to outsell PS3 games. If PC games consistently outsold console games, it would be the lead platform even if it had exponentially more piracy than the consoles.

It's all about sales in the end. Nothing else matters.
Amen

This is absolutely insane! Since when a menu without FPS limiter puts your pc on "jeopardy"?

Go download "Fraps" and test every game you have and you will see that most games DO NOT HAVE a FPS limiter on the menu. And more and more games have 3D menus (Singularity for example).

This will not burn your pc. If it does, every other game will....

One of many reasons tu buy things in general is the SENSE OF VALUE. If they offer good value on any product I will probably buy it.

The problem is that as time passes by, I see less and less value on gaming software. That is why I pirate games. But wait, dont critize me yet...

The funny thing is that I have several PS2, PS3, Xbox1, X360, and PC games (and A LOT of STEAM GAMES worth U$S 400) and I still pirate games. Why? Dont really know, except that if I dont see real value, is not worth paying... Piracy its ILLEGAL, but still, i feel its not a bad action.

So take that you greedy corporations and TRY to undersand why there is PIRACY. Good games, long lasting games, fun games, interesting games, stable and finished games, and nonintrusive DRM is what I like.

Why would I buy Mass Effect 2 if it doesnt have DRM, its easy to pirate, and its single player? Because its a good game with good value!

Steam must really being taking over if non-Steamworks games delay their patches due to Steam. It used to be retail got a patch, then everyone else... now retail has to wait for the Steam version to be ready.

Well, lets hope you are wrong and that "failure" from STEAM testing is caused by bad code from DICE and not from STEAM. In my experience, I NEVER had any problem with STEAM or Valve games.

News Comments > On OnLive Game Prices
58. Re: On OnLive Game Prices Jun 22, 2010, 08:19 ochentay4

I think this (dis)service is utterly bad and here is why:

1. The picture quality will be VERY bad, and worse if you have a big screen, no matter how good connection you have. The streming uses LOSSY COMPRESSION, so good bye to picture quality (PQ is, in part, a reason to buy latest games isn't it?)
2. You dont own the game, and unlike Steam, after 3 years you will probably no longer able play it. Three years is not a lot of time, I still play Half Life 1.
3. Its terribly expensive. It will be cheaper to buy a console and reatail games. Or a PC and the game and use it on lowest settings and still will have better PQ or Perfomance.
4. No connection = no gaming.
5. No service = no gaming. Even for single player.
6. Lag. No matter how good the service will be, you will always have lag at some point.
7. Sound. You will not get decent sound, will use LOSSY COMPRESSION and probably will not have multichannel.
8. Who will you report bugs? OnLive? Ubisoft/EA/xxx? Its a mess.

I cannot believe OnLive its ready for prime time. Its a good idea, but an inmature technology with many drawbacks and not for this decade.

C'mon, 60 bucks for an incomplete game its a fucking ripoff! Do you realize that the game will have at least 3 releases only to get 3 SP campaings? It's 180 bucks in total!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (if not more, probably expansions and dlc will be released, like in WOW...) This game should've gotten the 3 full campaings on the first release, and an expansion later, like every old rts.

Greedy bastards.

I love to have boxed original games. Games that I own, not that I rent.

Read the release. You can still pay the regular price and have no restrictions.

Are you kidding me? Its the most expensive rent ever! And U$S 59 its a lot of money for a episodic game.

I hate when games NEED to be online to play, specially if I want to play SP or LAN.

Blizzard has changed too much for my taste.

I own Diablo 1, Diablo 2, Starcraft & Broow Wars, Warcraft 3 & Frozen Throne, and will miss Starcraft 2 box...

Its a shame but I will pirate Starcraft 2, and every sequel that has this type of model business, DRM, or stupid restrictions.
