News Comments > WoW, Level 80!
9. Re: WoW, Level 80! Nov 14, 2008, 12:27 heroin
Man, I just spent my first two hours in the new expansion and all I did was ride around. I rode from one coast to the other and looked up and two hours had passed. Everything I've seen so far has been seamless, open and very well designed as expected. I like how mobs are spaced out more so one doesn't feel like they're transversing a grid. So far I like the new landscapes more than anything in BC. I'm digging it.

Regarding the Boomtown Fallout 3 review. So, when did the school system begin considering a 70/100% "above average" ?

You can tell a true dork when they fail to mention music as an accepted intellectual "communicative" art form.

I guess the writer hasn't played the original Fallout's or Planescape: Torment. Sure, they aren't fucking Ingmar Bergman films put to pixels but there was a lot of mature/adult/intelligent dialogue going on in all three of those games.

Video games are a 'truly' respectable medium because of the few great games that HAVE been made. Just like film is a 'truly' respectable medium because of the many classics. Obviously, within every industry there is a dirty mainstream aspect that shits out turds for the masses to consume which is obviously not 'truly' respectable but that is just to be expected. To say games are not respectable, yet, seems to me to be completely out of touch.

He goes on to say that comics have not reached a respectable mature status, either ("They, like games, are a medium which has yet to break out of its childish audience."). What, does this guy not understand satire? Has he ever read the comic series THE INVISIBLES, does he even understand that many horror films are political satire? Or has he been reading 1984 since 1949? There are PLENTY of adult comics out there that aren't just about getting laid. Come to San Francisco, go to the comic shops around here... go to Pens and Needles or other 'zine shops - there are plenty of comic books that express a "multitude of themes and ideas." Again, this dude is just out of touch. I mean, I guess this twat didn't even read any Robert Crumb when he was in his heyday in the 60's. Or check out the cynical and dire "Tales of Mere Existence"...

"Imagine games that could help you understand life outside of your country, to conceptualize the hardships of the poor." I gotta say - I can't wait for that Somalia simulator...

yea, you should stop playing games and she/he should minimize their phone usage because they are so similar. And once you've both minimized these habits - get some potato chips, watch fox news together and during the commercial break have a mind-altering conversation about your shitty PR jobs and maybe kiss a little bit and be the ideal image of a happy, wholesome couple. ps. fuck off.

I honestly think that is one of the worst "best" video games list I've ever seen... and not just because both Planescape and Alpha Centauri are missing. I mean WoW #1... Quake 3 Arena #2? And Peggle is on the list...

I think I'll move my PvE warrior over to a PvP server. I already paid for one transfer a couple of years ago. what a waste of money, though. After I transfer to a PVP - that'll be $40 wasted. It should be more like $5 for a transfer max. Oh well...

I'm bored as hell of spore after playing through it for two hours. Face it, the game sucks. The editors in the game are quite neat and the engine is quite possibly very malleable enough to create something completely unique and fun to play... I hope the mod scene takes off on it because this game is shite and a waste of money.

I'd like to see them... revamp some if not all of the quests in the game. Come on Blizzard, get innovative - you've got the money.

Seriously, I have a blast running raids - they're very strategic and many times interesting and challenging. I wish the world/quest/grind part of the game played a bit more like the raids do. I still love the game but I've come to expect more from Blizzard since I know they have both the talent and the money.

I have this gut feeling that once I've gotten through space and have gotten bored of exploring all the universes I'll start from scratch, smoke a spliff and be amazed all over again. This game seems like the ultimate ganja-game.

it's cool to see referencing cronnenberg. i love that guym especially Videodrome. Anyway, I still have fond memories of Rise of the Triad - the first and last game to feature heads and gib gizzards flying 100mph at the player.

"From what I've seen so far though, it really doesn't deserve the Fallout 3 title."

This comment sums up my sediments fairly accurately. Everything I've seen I've been thinking, "Why couldn't Bethesda just have picked up the rights to S.T.A.L.K.E.R, instead?"

I'd really love a Fallout 3 if it were made by some of those zany, creative, pseudo-intellectual, culture buff nerds that created the originals. But in my mind - Bethesda has never had it's finger on the pulse of anything 'pop-culturally' oriented. Which is the only way to poke fun at it!

Here's hoping they understand that Fallout 2 was the first and probably only (possibly last?) game to make a joke about Noam Chomsky (in a very respectable way). I could go on and on about pop-culture references in the Fallout series. One thing is for sure, Fallout was not about fast action and it was not just about it's post-apocalyptic "ambiance" - somehow I think Bethesda knows this but they don't give a rats ass.

Couldn't they just back step and make Daggerfall into an actual game? Oh I guess that was supposed to be Morrowind? Sorry for my Bethesda hate... but damn, they asked for it buying their way into the wrong series to make into a huge, 3d, third person on the shoulder 100+ hour open-ended pile of post-apocalyptic doo doo.

this "trailer" reminded me of a horrible song I have not thought or heard of since I was maybe in 4th or 5th grade. "Things that make you go Hmmm" by C+C Music Factory... yuck.

Man, I printed out 50 or so 400+ page books that were Vivendi's documentation of the merger - their end of it. I couldn't find any dirt just skimming but sort of wish I could have read through the whole document for fun.
I really hope Blizzard is able to maintain their independence - ie no stupid corporate fuck pressure to release games ; but at this point any company should know they would be foolish to fool with Blizzard's creative process.
