I received a scroll of resurrection(WoW 7-days free)from a friend, they even boosted a toon to 80 for free, i lasted a day before becoming bored again with that treadmill.
I enjoy Swtor, but the company running it is the worst excuse of a team of humans i've ever experienced in the industry.
I'm ready for something new, truly new, not a wow clone. |

Don't worry folks! We're still going to take a steamy dump in a box and ship it before we dismantle everything! We realize that you realize we couldn't give two fucks, but we'll still take your money! Put'r there pal!
I won't touch this bullshit with a ten foot pole. Run away! You should probably try the port before condemning it. For all we know, it could be a completely solid port. You could very well be right.
$20 bucks says it isn't. |

And yes, I feel like a complete chump because this is one of, if not THE worst run mmo's i can remember.
Have you played Matrix online/ Aion/ Age of conan/ Warhammer online/ Star Trek online/...?
Combat logs are in the game since patch 1.2. They repeatedly said that they wanted that information to be available for personal evaluation, but not to judge others with. This reddit thread delivered an early summary of a few of the available parsers, more recently, dpsmeter.com has become available and seems promising. Haven't tried it myself though, I heal; my feedback is people surviving.
I don't understand your enrage timer comment, please explain; bosses do enrage, do you want an in-game timer/countdown?
After wiping, players can use transportation to checkpoints. These could certainly be spaced out more generously, but some of them are available, with varying quality of implementation; I prefer the Karagga's Palace version, lack of realism be damned.
The ready check issue is perplexing. At the guild summit someone pointed that lack out and they seemed surprised to have to confirm that they did in fact not have one. A few months later, it's still not in. Yes, i realize combat logs are finally in the game, technically. I'm sorry i just don't enjoy tabbing/logging out of the game to go hunt down a text file, then go somewhere on the net and stare at a parsed log. No one asked for this shit, and the people who don't want meters are the very people who fear others will actually see their performance, or lack thereof. Is this an RPG or not? Or are we all just watching the pretty explosions?
Only a team of misfit's like Bioware would use the man hours to implement a completely moronic idea as this.
And yes there are speeders you can grab if you've downed 2 bosses in EC for instance, but for some reason Bioware has this fetish of setting the player down in front of a fucking cave that you cannot mount up in, so you then run through a long assed cave on foot, and a mile or two later come to the door of the boss, to be greeted by yet another loading screen.
It's all so moronic and just plain bad design, i wonder if they have 1 lead designer who has ever stood up and begged the question "hey, is any of this shit actually FUN for the players?"
My $20 bucks says nill.
But like i said, i enjoy aspects of the game, and im a glutton for punishment. |

I'll be the first to admit the game is a giant steamy(unfinished)turd, and the people running it appear to have learned absolutely fuck all from years of competitors and other mmo's on the market.
They keep saying they want to do things different, but in the end they just rip off tried and true features from WoW, only it takes them twice as long to implement, and then they still fuck it up.
7 months later and we STILL do not typical mmo features like..
Meters/Combat logs/raid tools/something...anything that gives the player feedback of performance of any kind..
A simple fucking /readycheck so the entire raid team aren't forced to jump up and down like idiots in order to ensure all players are present and ready to pull.
Mod support of any kind
Enrage timers for bosses.
Summons of any kind to help diminish downtime(wipes)for raid groups. After 18 loading screens, you then have to run your ass back to bosses via 1997.
Infact the entire Bioware team appear to be still living in 1997. The downtime from wiping on a typical 3 hour progression night is atleast 1 hour of just running back and regrouping.
And yet after all the idiocy i still pay these people monthly because i dig my guild, friends, and the game to a large extent. And yes, I feel like a complete chump because this is one of, if not THE worst run mmo's i can remember.

OpticNerve wrote on Jun 14, 2012, 18:44: I don't understand the appeal of TERA's combat system in comparison to GW2's. Been watching some youtube vids and reading some threads but as far as I know:
TERA: Attacks, skills and spells root you into place Some of the classes can dodge You fight over-sized monsters called BAMs which have telegraphed moves There's a crosshair Main attack is bound to mouse 1 by default No tab targeting
GW2: Most attacks, skills and spells can be used and cast while moving aside from a very small handful of skills that purposely root you in place. Might account for the floaty feeling of combat some people have mentioned All classes can dodge Elites don't have easily noticeable telegraphed moves No crosshair The "main" attack is set to auto attack by default but can be unset and clicked on to "swing" Uses tab or click targeting, but anything within reach or in the way of your attack or spell when used will be hit regardless
So aside from the crosshair and lack of tab targeting, what's so great about TERA's combat system in comparison? Couldn't have said it better myself. |

Steele Johnson wrote on Jun 13, 2012, 23:06: This genre is burnt to a crisp no matter how pretty the game is. Next gen mmos like Planetside 2 is so far the only one worth looking at, IMO. GW2 is still going to be kill x fetch y. I understand what you're saying, and i agree to a point. Hasn't every genre been done to death? Some are just worth playing and most are not.
If you enjoy mmo's(like i do)then you're going to fetch and kill stuff. You're going to slowly level your class/hero/toon/persona/inflatable doll to 50 and then begin to pve-dailies/raid/pvp your ass off.
The question is, is it a world you want to spend time in? I'm all for evolution and moving forward, but you're not gonna get the old fogey's like me sitting in a world like Planetside for hours on end, that's for you youngins.
I think i speak for most of us old fart mmo players when i say we want a beautiful, lush world to explore and hang out in at our own pace, we want to be able to get up and go take a piss, and get a cup of coffee, or go afk and give the wife some much needed attention...for 15-20 min of course, then back to the grindstone.
What exactly would you do different? |

Prez wrote on Jun 12, 2012, 21:59: The Old Republic was my first (and based on how awful the experience was, most certainly my last) MMO, so I didn't even give the server a thought. Only later did I realize that I made my toon on a PvP server and couldn't play him on any other server. I guess I just assumed I could play him wherever I wanted. Yeah, it really is too bad a game like Swtor was your first experience. While the launch was relatively smooth, the client was a joke. It was a complete fucking mess of a game(and still is in many ways)with literally unfinished..everything, hell they released a modern mmo with no support for AA in 2011? Unbelievable.
These guys at EA/Bio deserve the mass exodus they've been experiencing these last couple months. It's only borderline retards like me who've stuck around(solid guild with close friends)and have put up with this steamy turd.
The monkeys are finally getting systems in place that should've been in months ago, and the game is alot fun, for myself, and may be a solid little mmo someday..possbily..if they can keep their current subs. But i wouldn't blame someone like you one damn bit for running to the hills after experiencing the pile of ass Swtor was, and still is.
Wow killer? Uh huh.. |

JohnBirshire wrote on Jun 13, 2012, 03:22: But that is a good thing, isn't it? I understand you're being sarcastic but I'm not understanding why. Why not transfer all your characters off the, as you called it, barren server to the more populated one? At the moment, the transfer is free for all of your characters on the low-pop server to the high-pop and near instant.
Are you really this naive, or do you work for Bioware and are therefore trying to defend their actions?
They need to merge servers, plain and simple. Allowing people to leave low population ones and go to higher population ones does not solve anything, it just makes the problem worse. Now you're left with even MORE low population servers than before. Get it yet?! Maybe you should attempt looking past your own nose. It's a pretty solid bet they'll eventually be shutting down dead(230 live)servers once their "mega" servers are ready for prime time. Any stragglers left will get moved to a mega server while it's free. Anything after that will cost you to get moved to one you prefer if needed.
I agree it's in no way a perfect setup, and it's long overdue, but it's damn sure nice to see the Fleet on our server bustling with bodies again.
They have a solid game on their hands, it's just sad the company running it appears to be 1 fry short of a happy meal. |

Watch out! Bliz is serious bidness!
Almost as much as they care about the constant gold spam in chat in a channel they forced onto the community with the added bonus of having to shut it off each time one logs into their safe and sound DRM online service.
Yet another reason there should be an offline mode for the customer, but that would defeat the purpose of their 15% cut of each transaction, and the oh so safe monitoring by our heroes at Blizzard.
This company is now run by a bunch of tools. |
