Yep. The law currently prevents some games being sold to minors; this bill is to expand the law to prevent them being sold to anyone.

Presumably, this law will only apply to retailers operating in Illinois. Evans is going to flip out when he hears about digital delivery platforms.

Stephen Riach spends most of his review rubbishing Bioshock Infinite (with poor grammar and spelling), then gives it 90%?

Mind you, he gushed over halo 4 and also gave it 90%.

...and he gave CoD: Black Ops 2 a 90%.

Might I humbly suggest that perhaps Game Over Online reviews aren't terribly valuable?

So the solution is to make a spectacle of themselves?
It's a con. The participants will be no more making a "spectacle" of themselves than those who attend PAX.
I'm just trying to see the end game here, and right now, it's pretty fucking foggy. What exactly does full equality look like? Are the rich going to start partying with the poor? Sometimes you just have to live with what you have and try to be happy with it, or kill yourself.
Their stated goal is not full 'equality', but to "create a space where all gamers and queer geeks can come together in a welcoming and safe space."
I think the reality is they will never be fully accepted, and the sooner they learn to live with that, the better it will be for everyone.
I wonder how often that was said about Negroes, and women?

The funny thing is, no gamer I know gives a rat's ass what hole you prefer to poke, lick, suck or fondle. Insecure 14 year old boys on Xbox Live are the minority, not the majority.

Going out of your way to self-label and segregate seems to be attention whoring and just invites the problems one would ostensibly assume they'd like to avoid.
I would normally agree, but I have never played an Xbox game, and even among relatively mature gaming communities it's not uncommon to see 'fag' and 'gay' used pejoratively. If events like this can help reduce the use of these slurs I'm all for it.

Xbox Live is almost certainly beyond salvation though - the only solution is to kill it with fire.

Yep. If it was a technical/scientific publication it would most likely be "How many data are being created per minute?" - they always tend to treat it as the plural of datum.

If you want to go all Grammar Polizei, this is slightly more accurate than the original Domo headline, because it acknowledges that 'data' is plural. Admittedly, through common usage it's generally accepted as a collective noun now anyway, but I'm guessing Blue was trying to be accurate...

The coffee and toothpaste bit was clearly a joke. Folgers Crystals used to have a commercial back in the 80s about how they would secretly replace someone's leading brand coffee with Folgers Crystals, let's see if he can tell the difference.
Ah, that makes sense. I'm Australian, so never heard of Folgers, let alone seen their commercials. Whenever I hear someone (usually American, but I'm trying not to generalise too much) complaining about being picked on by 'the Man' I try to apply Occam's Razor - 'the Man' has much better things to do than try to oppress your freedom to build potato guns and pipe bombs in your basement, and better things to spend taxpayers' money on than constantly monitoring ordinary citizens who think their philosophies are so radical they pose a threat to the government (SPOILER: They're not.)

Yeah, I'm going to take my security advice from a guy who thinks someone is replacing his coffee and toothpaste to make him insane. Totally invalidates the rest of his article, as I don't accept guidance from psychotics.

Exactly what I thought - the poster is suffering from paranoid delusions; home security is the least of his worries. I love the fact that conspiracy theorists think they are so important that the government will spend so much time and money to keep them quiet or "intimidate" them.

I am disappointed that a horrible birth defect like homosexuality can be allowed into this game. No matter, this disease that affects the reproductive system will someday be eradicated by gene therapy.

Well, you're either trolling or an idiot. Either way you're pathetic.

Well they do harp on about how they are 'born that way', and if that is so, then it is indeed a defect. Logic wins this argument every time. You mad?
People with blue eyes are born that way, too - brown eyes are more common, and the dominant gene. Does that mean blue-eyed people have a 'birth defect'? What's the difference? Your 'logic' fails the most basic test.

There is only ONE group that has a problem. The one that wants special privilege and to segregate itself from all others.

If this is what the gay community wants, to have "gay only" groups in games, then they should have NO PROBLEM with "straight only" groups, right?
Is this apropos of anything in particular? The story linked to mentions same-sex relationships being an option, nothing about "gay only" groups. The only guilds/clans I've ever heard of before have been perfectly happy to accept LBGT-friendly hetero players, they don't insist on "gays only".

Maybe I'm being a little picky, but the "Android USB Tethering Shared Internet Access" article isn't a review at all - it's a five-line description of how to tether an Android phone (and a bunch of ads).

1) Microsoft has trademarked "Windows"
2) It isn't "Vista," it's "Windows Vista"

My apologies - my memory of the Lindows case was hazy. I know MS were worried that they [mighti lose their trademark if they pushed too hard, which is why they focussed so much on the "Vista" in their marketing, and not so much on the "Windows".

3) Tim Langdell did sue EA. He sued everyone. He typically wasn't successful, but he could bully enough to get settlements

Oops - I meant "successfully sue".

In the instance of Mojang, Bethesda are paranoid that the use of 'Scrolls' will have legal ramifications on their use of the same word in their licensing.

This is ridiculous, though - Mojang can't stop anyone using "Scrolls", because it's a commonly used term - just like Microsoft couldn't trademark "Windows" (which is why they changed it to "Vista"), and Tim Langdell couldn't sue EA for calling their game "Mirror's Edge".

There seems to be pretty well established precedent on this, but Bethesda are pursuing Mojang anyway - seems kinda douchey.
