| Historically ATI drivers used to have poor OpenGL implementations (there were cases of drivers reporting complete support for OpenGL 2.0 without supporting the complete API) but good DirectX support. Nvidia on the other hand supported both API's with decent quality and performance. Maybe that's why some people sees ATI driver quality not as good as Nvidia. |

You know, a couple CGI episodes with 10 or 15 minutes each set in the Half Life universe and published at YouTube would be feasible and way cool - as long they FIRST release HL3/HL2 Ep3/whatever it's called now. So please Valve, finish the game before going this way! |

PropheT wrote on Aug 18, 2010, 13:10: Size doesn't matter as much as replayability, but it does matter. War and Peace is long because it needed to be to tell its story, and a good video game follows the same formula. The best games are as long as they need to be to accomplish what they set out to do. I second that. Problem is many modern games have shallow/mediocre gameplay AND are short in hours. |

Any 3 Fallout 3 DLC sets have about the same amount of content. you gotta give id software credit for releasing the source code for their game engine in the past. it made the mod community popular back in the day. And let's not forget RTCW:ET. How many companies do you see giving to the community a complete, polished game where they spent a good ammount of money, for free ?
That said, I think we won't see that happening anymore. And I'm afraid it's the end of engines source code releases, too. |

I have to wonder how much credit George will try to take, if it ever is... The irony here is that after 14+ years this game will be rushed out of door, probably in a very unpolished form, just to get the end of year sales. |

Wildone wrote on Jul 20, 2010, 11:06: Tried to place this last night it said "steam servers currently too busy try again later" excuse me? I wanna play my fucking game I paid for. Tried like 8 more times and gave up. Fuck you. I'm fine with servers busy just after a patch release. I can wait to download the patch in the next day if it's the case. What really pisses me off is being kicked from a perfectly normal game because "VAC servers went down", or suddenly realize all my loadout is temporarily unavailable in the middle of the battle because "this server lost connection with VAC servers". Looks like TF2 grew beyond Valve expectations (and infrastructure). |

I just realized that in the second announce, at the first time I haven't checked the scores. I dont know, I think it's a bit frustrating and weird, it's like we are all looking for a Willy Wonka golden pass. |

Microsoft could not care less about PC as gaming platform. They invested too many money, time and effort in their own ecossystem, which generates far more revenue than they ever dreamed in the PC. |

| Patches aside, Valve needs to do something about the VAC and craft servers intermittently going down during the game. Not a client network issue, since the server latency and the gameplay itself flows nicely, but it's a PITA being suddenly stripped off from all my items between respawns just because the VAC server is down or unreachable for a moment during the match. |
