I hate to say it but the console versions might actually be more fun than the PC edition. Local Coop might be a winner.
Will the console version require an internet connection to play SP as the PC version does? If not then that alone would make it better IMO.
As far as I know there is no always-on requirement.

Not to interrupt your Xbox One hate, but I read that multiplayer gets dedicated servers in azure which is pretty cool. What I always hated about consoles was the piss poor peer to peer hosting.

User-hosted dedicated servers or dev/publisher-hosted? The latter just means you won't be able to play the game at all when they decide it's not profitable anymore.

I think the developers have to enable this feature and obviously pay MS for it. I don't think that as a user I will be able to just spin up an Azure VM to host some Gears of War
Let's see if this resolves the "host dropping, migrating session" crap I've seen on console games.

Wow. Now your move, Steam....
I remember buying Natural Selection 2 and it ran like shit on my rig. I asked Steam nicely to let me return the game. They told me to fuck off.

microsoft should just buy steam and make that the official game store. end of story. (provided they don't interfere with how things are) everyone would be a winnar.

I bought it yesterday and played maybe two hours. I like it. It has a clean UI, and serviceable graphics. The overworld feels a bit static (how it was back in the day) if you are used to Skyrim-quality open world gameplay. The first dungeon ("I'm not gonna send you to kill rats....I'm gonna send you to kill SPIDERS!") was very nice and I like the monster animations and the combat in general. Did not notice any serious bugs although I could have sworn that some of my hot key actions were wiped from the quick bar (go to the skill page and drag the attack / ranged attack / defend actions back there).
Framerate was OK on full HD on my Alienware m14x. Looking forward to playing more tonight.

I'll say it again: The new guy MS hired from Valve should just tell them to make Steam a first class citizen on windows! Make a deal with Valve, ship it with windows update! All the bad press about win 8 will just fade away

Can't recommend Gone Home enough! Awesome first person story telling without shooting or puzzles. Be warned: It won't take you longer than 4 hours.

Just heard about Infinity for the first time, then I saw a video...
They spent 100m on this crap? Get the fuck out of game development and let Raven do another Jedi Knight!

Windows Phone is not a terrible platform. It's a pretty advanced mobile OS with an interface design way ahead of iOS and Android (that's why they copy it).
Terrible no, low market penetration, yes.

They should have just made a deal with Valve to integrate steam out of the box. This would have made a lot of nerds very happy. The same nerds that released the shitstorm complaining about the Xbox One DRM when it was really just a copy of the steam DRM.
It was NOT a copy of Steam's DRM. Steam does NOT require a authentication once every 24 hours.
Remember the last time you were offline more than 24 hours? Me neither. You are right, though, it was not a copy, it was better actually. Games lending and all. But that's a moot point now. I'm not saying Microsoft did a good job (they didn't) but consumers never want innovation, they want the stuff they already have (xbox 360 and ps3 with better graphics).
