Gone are the days of lower resolution = more speed. So you're saying that's a good thing? I tried it on my laptop mit 8600gs graphics and didnt expect great things. I ran it on 800*600 with medium textures and world details, it was okay but still not 100% smooth. Just for the fun of it I cranked everything up to Max on 1280x800 and I was surprised that it was still playable and looked awesome. But there seems to be no setting where I can run the game as smooth as Quake Wars for example (which runs fine on med-max details).

Well, on the bright side, if anything knows anything about pumping out sequels, it's EA. I bet EA is working on a System Shock sequel after they saw Bioshock doing so well. |

| I read the preview on gamespot. Sounds pretty cool but I fear players will just go back to TF2 and Counter Strike. Splinter Cell had one of the most innovative Multiplayer Modes in years and there are like four people playing it? |

Just played through Portal and EP2 - Portal was nice but EP2... WOW. So much better than EP1, never a dull or annoying moment. Now I expect Valve to work double time on EP3!!
Edit: Oh and how very clever to link Portal with the Half Life Universe  ... you'll see....

| Even though the Quake Wars Beta consumed most of my time, I did play a couple of matches in the CoD4 360 Beta. Gotta admit it was pretty good. |

Yea but that's students. They love their Macs until they are out of university and realize that the real world is different.

| Just bought a white label copy of Fallout 2 (Back in '98 I borrowed it from a friend) and I'm currently playing through it again. To this date no other game has even come close to the magnificence that is Fallout. And I don't think Bethesda can come close... |

Of course you can't turn all the details to max on a 8600 gs but usually you can tweak things so that you get a good compromise. World in Conflict and Quake Wars do that just fine. I just dont buy into the 140-watt-500$-grapics-card-hype.
Oh yea and World in Conflict runs great on 1280x800 with medium details.
