In other news, hey, people are rebuilding Morrowind again in Bethesda's Engine du Jour.

I don't know that the "Rebuild Morrowind in the Oblivion engine" ever got close to completion, so it'll be interesting to see what happens here.
It's one of those "zomg huge projects" but it's easier to port scripts and quests over from Morrowind to Oblivion since there are common things that were implemented between the two. Going from Oblivion or Morrowind to Skyrim is going to be eye gouging fun for anyone who does it, especially since the entire scripting side of things changed.

Last I looked Morrowblivion was at a .59 release or .60. And it's mostly complete.

What I find funny is the IT guy not using something else besides symantec end point, and locking down the users machines at the local access level.

What do you mean how easy? You sneeze at it. The entire codebase should be nuked from orbit.

That's what happens when your game is made for the mass market, you attract the mass idiots
Damned if that isn't the truth. I can remember often enough being able to send off emails to dev's and getting responses on questions, or even in general writing about what I thought of the game. Mass market = mass idiots. It's rare to get a response now, unless it's an indie. And even then, you've got the very special brand of douchewaffle(phil fish).

Yeah not surprised at that pay rate, reminds me of newspapers. How much does the average store make per newspaper sold? Hint: Not much, it's between 0.01 to 0.05/per copy. Weekend papers sell for 0.03-0.13.

Tropico's education system is one thing I never enjoyed in these games. It's so.. micro management heavy and not paying attention can easily ruin your running city.
That was one of the things I enjoyed the most, mostly because a lot of 'sim' style games either do it badly, or not at all.

That's fair enough. I'm not saying it's not an effective trailer, it's actually VERY effective, as it made me pretty uncomfortable, and obviously does set the tone for the series very well.
Really man, if you haven't read the books yet you should. They're exceptional, and will give you an insight into the games themselves.

Hrm, I'd like to watch that trailer, but it asks me to sign in... do people actually sign in to youtube? That seems like you're just asking for a lawsuit down the road.

It's not that hard to bypass.

Creston wrote on Aug 14, 2013, 13:01:
I find it a pretty damn uncomfortable trailer to watch, to be honest. Do we really need to watch a woman being beaten up in a fairly graphic way for you to promote your game, CD Projekt?

Quality wise though, the trailer is excellent. At times it almost looks like live action. And fortunately they've finally realised that we don't need 18 minute videos of geralt fighting something anymore. I thought I was going insane during the opening trailer for the Witcher...

Realistically though? If you pay attention to exactly how nilfgaard operates from Witcher 2, and have read the books, then you know exactly why the entire trailer makes sense. There isn't a difference between what a monster is.

I'm perfectly fine with the way moderation has been done. As for thumbnails, couldn't care. One of the nice things about here is the page loads fast, very fast without the images and scripts a lot of other sites use.

Quite frankly, the isometric aspect, forced by painted backgrounds, was overrated as an important component of this type of game. I'd love to, at a minimum, have a freely-rotating camera, as well as tilt down and up and even a limited zoom range.
Well you know there man, kickstarter is right over there. If you're not a fan of it just make your own game. I'm a huge fan of isometric games. Rotatable 3d is okay, but there are occasionally some very human touches that can be done with the static isometric, instead of copy and paste texture maps for rotatable 3d.

And in about 10 to 15 years Amazon or someone locally will have the "food stuff" also figured out with drone based delivery etc. Can't wait

If it's cheaper to not go into a physical store for food, then I think supermarkets will be in for a harsh surprise.
You're talking about going back to the past. Up until about 8 years ago, one of the local dairies where I live still did door to door milk delivery in glass bottles no less. Milk boxes are still very common around here. But head out of my city and to a few near by and you'll see the same. There are people who do deliveries door to door now though. Same with groceries, used to very common 50ish years ago, not so much now. Besides the milk box, my house still has a mini-box for the stock boy so he could get in through the back door and restock the refrigerator.
