I realize this is anecdotal, but I had my first ever red screen of death yesterday while running the Crimson drivers and the beta Fallout 4 patch.

I've been running a CrossFire setup for two years now and it's been...interesting. It's absolutely fantastic when it works, but ATI AMD seems to have intermittent driver issues, especially in relation to CF. Also, they were really slow to begin addressing framerate latency compared to Nvidia.
CF-issues, slow profile releases, CF missing in certain releases...
Unless there is a significant price/performance ratio, I think my next card purchase will be some type of SLI setup.

Still having that feeling that the drivers are a little jankey,
Ray

This went live on Friday on the US site as a celebration of the franchise's 15 year history.

I checked the Square Enix website (US) and it is still listed at the top of the page.
Ignore the EU site, unless applicable to your region.

This game, the developer, and publisher all suck on PC. I was holding out for the re-release, but the continued issues and now lack of multiple GPUs is making me put this game in the garbage.

Meanwhile, I would like some Crossfire support for Fallout 4...
Great game. Nvidia tinkering aside.

Companies only care about making a profit.

If they can push out low cost phone crap and make significantly more money and in a shorter timespan than a multi-year console game development that takes nearly $100M to make, the company will do so.

Even if something breaks even or is slightly profitable, companies will move on to different projects because they want to focus on a newer or different project that could make even more money.
Television does this all the time. Bigger ratings and chasing demographics.
It's a horrible prospect for the gaming community and speaks to Japan primarily playing "games" on cell phones, but it's not like the market is demanding more from them...

I realize it is showing its age, but this was an utterly amazing game when it first came out. The level design, mechanics, suspense, atmosphere, frenetic pacing, etc. - I was not prepared for what this game brought to the table.

On the scare scale, this came out above Undying and System Shock 2, based upon their respective release dates.
Never have I loved being scared so much...
Wishing I had another game experience anything close to this,

Meh.

I gave up on Trine 2 - I was having some issues with timing on a given puzzle and the mechanics of the level. At one point, one of the platforms bugged and got stuck in a position that made me unable to complete the level. Temporary glitch, no problem, I will just restart the level...and then I found out that the glitch was somehow carrying over into any restarted level as well as my save game. I literally could not play any further without starting over - I was done at that point.

Now, they've taken out a part of the prior games, they have an abrupt ending, and they went with an overly ambitious design - given my past history, I'll wait until it's discounted quite a bit before I try it.

Looking at some videos of the game, I think they just did too much. I like the idea of an open 3D world compared to the rigid 2.5D design from the earlier games, but I question how well it works, how fun it is. The Trine series is built around hampered, confined, selective gameplay mechanics; does this same gameplay or mechanics carry over to full 3D that well?
They went from A to B all the way to Z.
Off to finish Cradle,
Ray

I hope this is a great thing, but I'm somewhat skeptical and am thinking this may be more of a tedious thing.

I am nearly done with The Witcher 3 and, even though I think it set a new standard for the open world RPG, it could have ended 50 hours ago and I would have been just as happy.
Dragon Age: Inquisition is a joke in comparison.
Currently, F4 doesn't seem like it is really pushing any new boundaries (it really reminds me of F3) and I'm not sure I want 400 hours of anything, much less something that isn't outright amazing.

Waiting to see...,

Huzzah for TW3. I have some doubts about optimization and control, but it's a damn good game. More than that, it has really increased the bar for story and choice in a RPG.

I watched my wife play through Dragon Age: Inquisition and I found it really dull. I was turned off by it that I never played it myself and she ended up, at just over 100 hours, she was irritated with the game on multiple levels.

In contrast, TW3 is creating a much more realistic world, one full of gray decisions, and where decisions matter in a much more significant way. I'm only just beginning in the game, but if it keeps this up through the end, I think it's going to drastically change the genre.
After DA2 and DA:I, I feel like I'm over the series.
A bit of a fan of the game ,

I don't have a specific list - I have like 50 sites bookmarked and randomly visit them throughout the week. It's also becoming an indicator of how productive of a day it was, if I managed to listing to a number of casts because I was able to work on projects most of the day or if a 1-2 hour podcast lasted through the day because I was in various meetings.

I've listened to Dan Carlin before as well as Gamers with Jobs, I'll hit up the NPR stream for news, Nerdist is awash with a wide range of material, Pointless is interesting, Smodcast at times, Maron, all the normal game casts (Giant Bomb, Kinda Funny Games, Gametrailers, IGN, 5by5, etc.,) and then all the people going solo on YouTube (Sterling, Matt Chat, Angry Joe, Total Biscuit, Marcus Beer, etc.)

There's other entertainment industry or comedy podcasts as well, but you get the idea. Outside of being stuck in meeting hell, there is more than enough content out there to speed the work day along.

Noting there are other branches like Ted Talks or Talks at Google, too,
Ray It's definitely quantity over quality at the moment.

I've been lurking the site, but I rarely post. Toss in eleven hour work days and some health issues with my wife, I'm finding very little time to comment on anything.
And stupidly only getting paid for eight of those hours...
Going off on the usual tangent, I've fallen in love with listening to podcasts while working. There is a chunk of news and some broad entertainment podcasts, the but the vast bulk of what I listen to is gaming/industry podcasts. Gaming was always my true passion, but I now know more than I have at any time...but it just further negates my wish to comment on things when any given item has been discussed twenty times over.

Wah wah - problems of the first world.

Playing indies, but wondering where the next big, defining game is,

I actually think the core game is lacking in fun due to the complete randomness of items and the often restrictive room layout.

It wasn't until I unlocked the Azazel character, one that can fly around the room, that I started having any real fun with the game. Since then, the game has paid for itself many, many, many times over.

Otherwise, there's an funny, yet immature, crudeness to the game, it's randomly generated, there are a lot of items/endings/characters to unlock, each room is going to be a new challenge and experience, it's really easy to pick up and play or continue on an earlier game, and it's one of those games where, if you get hurt or die, you accept and realize it's nearly entirely your own fault.
I mean, any game where you go into your mother's uterus...

Reading the interview, though he repeatedly denies it, it's obvious that he does constantly lie - to himself. Beyond that, the sad history of overpromising, letdowns, double-speak, forgetfulness, and excuses paint their own picture.

I understand he is frustrated with the industry and he blames the "gaming press" for his current situation, but seems to have gone down a hole that lacks any significant self-awareness or accountability. If not for giving him a pass for once being the Molyneux of the 80s and 90s, in many ways, he treats the gamming community with the same abuse, neglect, and contempt that many publishers do.

I hope he can do some self-analysis, find out what he wants to do and can actually accomplish something creative and positive in the current funding environment. He is currently lost and overwhelmed and appears to be on an unhealthy, unsustainable trajectory.

Thinking he has a reputation, but a damned and worsening one,

To heck with these. I'm not sure if I even care about this game yet and trying to sell me on a season pass beforehand speaks to a certain lack of respect the developers and publishers have for gamers.

It speaks to where the focus is of the developers/publishers - on squeezing out every nickel and dime from the players and not on making a new, unique, or fantastic gaming experience.

Sell me on the quality of your game, not how I will be screwed less by locking in my DLC mega pack today. With that mentality, I may as well wait for the $20-$30 GotY Steam sale.
