I disagree.
In this case, it's chalked up to laziness on the developers part. They've obviously got very generalized AI reactions to player trigger events, such as that gate opening, and the forklift moving by itself. The reaction for both was to be slightly alert and look at the occurrence, and then say a random sentence out of their 'startled guard statements' repertoire. And both times, what they said made no sense. And both times, they just started at the occurrence (one with his nose basically touching it)
Even if they had a more realistic reaction of looking around and pacing the area a bit, it's not like the player couldn't take them both down easily and separately by stealthily moving up behind them. I'm not saying have it ultra realistic - which I do agree, would be a pain in the ass more than fun - but at least a little more challenging.
As it stands, the guards act like pylons, ready to be knocked over. Like I said, shitty AI, even by open world standards. |

Well, looks like shitty AI has still not been tackled. Even in what was purported as an innovative title by today's standards, the AI fucking blows.
Forklift moves by itself: Guard walks over to put his face 6 inches from it "Dog maybe..?". Yes, a fucking dog just moved the forklift.
The security gate to the compound spontaneously opens: Guard barely moves and just says "over there.." nonchalantly.
It's actually embarrassing how little AI has been addressed in today's games.
That said, game still looks like a winner. It should be a lot of fun and I think the story will really shine through. Even if there's not a whole lot to do in the city (see: Mafia 2), if the story and set-pieces are well done, I'll be happy.
Cutter wrote on May 13, 2013, 12:12: This looks like it could repetitious very quickly. I'm sure the first few hours would probably be pretty awesome but it may do downhill quickly after that if you're just doing the same thing over and over. Seems to be a trend with Ubisoft games. They are pretty damn awesome at first, though.

Anyone even play this game?
It was cool when I played the beta a while back but I feel like it would have gotten very boring |

Zyrxil wrote on May 10, 2013, 17:54: Now this footage looks far less faked, and is about par for 360/PS3 graphics. The real question is how detailed the world will be. I have strong doubts that they can give a significant amount of NPCs unique histories, routines, and interactions. Probably what it'll boil down to is an event generator that will randomly create variations on maybe 20 preset events in the area around you. I suspect the same, although with more variations.
Looks great, either way! |

Too Human was trying to be a mix of too many things. The Art Direction alone was a clusterfuck mish mash that never materialized into a whole. |

I have faith this will look pretty much the same as theses screenies - if your PC has the guts to pump it out at 16 x AF and AA |

I remember Dyack coming to my school in 2006, acting like Too Human was the next coming of Christ. The lead character modeler with him also seemed like a pompous ass.
Good riddance. |

They have to be careful not to develop that syndrome that makes continuous action scenes extremely boring.
It's like watching one of those modern day action movies that has explosion after explosion and never lets up, each one trying to top the next and it just becomes superfluous and nauseating (Avengers is an exception).
Know what I mean? It's just TOO MUCH sometimes. I find that less is more in some cases, and it's good to space the craziness out in mind-calming intervals. Pacing - is maybe the word I'm lookin for. |

While it's easy to be pessimistic, I think at least ONE great Star Wars game could come out of this, especially if it's a Battlefront type dealie made by DICE
EA has not fucked absolutely everything up... yet |

I also thought of the shooter "Chasm"
Not a great game, but I still had fun
Also, thinking about Chasm made me remember the shooter Requiem: Avenging Angel, from pretty far back.
Dunno why
On topic: glad this got funded. Kudos to them! |

Yeah, V sounds incredible.
"Computer and Video Games" preview is the best, since it's short and sweet, packed with insider info.
The heists sounds so cool!
The graphics seem to be boosted as well, with dynamic lighting and shadows (see the heli spotlight in Franklin's trailer), as well as impressive wave physics on the ocean, and better overall detail in the world.

Maybe people are getting sick of this type of comment..
But basically the only reason I really enjoyed GRID was because of the cockpit view. Now that it's gone, there's really nothing here for me. |
