Yeah, but the thing is, the animator(s) and artists on their dev team animated, modeled and textured that mock video. They did a pretty poor job.
If they had more talent, it would have easily looked better.
It's not like they're super talented, but rather decided to half-ass it for the concept video. Doesn't make sense.

I'm trying my darnedest not to sound like a dick here..

First impressions are everything for a Kickstarter pitch.

EDIT: then again, they could be going for that retro, almost 2-D animated look (ala Road Rash), which I got a taste of from the video. If that's the case, cool, it does have that feel... but it's not for me

It's the animation that's the important part, really. If the movement is boss then the rest will fall into place.

Love the passion of these fellas and the gameplay ideas they have in store, but I'm wary of the execution.

Their concept video is pretty poorly animated, and the assets and environment look very amateur, despite the experience of the team.
Maybe most of that prior retail game experience is in their coders, since the art isn't up to snuff.

Yes, it's a CONCEPT video, but that mock gameplay video is what's used to ignite interest in the project.
Maybe they're going for that specific look (simple/old school), but for me, it's not working.

I'll wait for an update video before I back this.

For me, the bottom line is: I have never had a significant problem with Steam, ever.

It never feels intrusive, or uncooperative. It always works. And I always play my games.

I backed these guys based solely on the fact that I like them and they deserve to make their dream game.
I don't even like turn based RPG's very much. Hell, I haven't even played one!

But these guys are so passionate and genuine, I couldn't resist helping them.

The fact that the game looks really purdy doesn't hurt, either

EDIT: I'm also quite surprised they haven't blown past their funding goal already.

Nitronic Rush was pretty cool, but I didn't play for more than 30 minutes.
This looks more of the same, but more polished.

Really, it just makes me want a 'Rollcage' remake
