Hi, welcome to 2010, deger. You want something using Flash? The video is on the Kickstarter page. You want to try out the game? Indies use Unity.

If you can track it down get the X-Men Origins: Wolverine game by Raven Software. They did an awesome job salvaging a terrible movie and expanding it into their own thing. I hope Activision releases it on Steam in the future.
I second this. The game was pretty badass

If they're going to pump out another Wolfenstein it damn well better be innovative.
At least put some time into the AI or something...

I know, foreign concept for an FPS

Can't wait for another shitty Furst Purse Fall Out game, not. Sucks for you guys that want it haha.

Wasteland 2 and Shadowrun Returns will be a slap in the face to anyone who shouted there should never be another isometric rpg classics again. Finally getting the games I want.
Cool, bro.

Not only is this a steaming pile, but they completely and utterly ripped off the song from 28 Weeks later.

If this gets funded, you can notch one against your faith in humanity

I'd like to see a new combat engine more than anything else, Skyrim is so stiff and unresponsive compared to other RPG/ARPGs. I really enjoyed exploring Skyrim but the writing (outside of lore books) and combat felt really mediocre.
An improved system based on the one from Chivalry as well as hiring new animators to do NPC animations and I'll play that beast for years.

I wouldn't expect a huge amount of creativity from "GameCoder Studios"

Interestingly enough, though, it looks like they use next gen particle effects on the guns

Also the film isn't a remake, it takes place after the events of Beyond Thunderdome. To top it all off, they had like 300 some bikes, cars, and trucks they used in about 200 stunts, so we're talking old-school badass vehicle stunts, not over the top CGI.
Ludomancer wrote on Apr 13, 2013, 10:51:
Actually, word through the grapevine is that the game is being developed by Avalanche Studios (Just Cause 2), using JC2's engine and featuring modifiable vehicles. I heard this around 3 years ago, so take it with a grain of salt, but it certainly caught my attention.

These two comments are making me moist.

Sources?

You realize that most mock gameplay videos don't even have textures or particles, right? They're typically just animations done in Maya. I think you're mistaking CGI teasers (used for marketing) with gameplay concept videos (used internally). If you're running a Kickstarter, chances are you don't have the money for marketing so might as well use a concept video.
Yeah, but the thing is, the animator(s) and artists on their dev team animated, modeled and textured that mock video. They did a pretty poor job.
If they had more talent, it would have easily looked better.
It's not like they're super talented, but rather decided to half-ass it for the concept video. Doesn't make sense.
Ya know?

I'm trying my darnedest not to sound like a dick here..

First impressions are everything for a Kickstarter pitch.

EDIT: then again, they could be going for that retro, almost 2-D animated look (ala Road Rash), which I got a taste of from the video. If that's the case, cool, it does have that feel... but it's not for me

If the gameplay works, I couldn't care less if it looks like Minecraft... It certainly didn't matter much back in the day, when you struggled to discern which blobs in the distance were cars coming at you and which ones were zebras standing in the road, or that first-place racer you were trying to catch, etc.
Yeah, but 160 Gs should mean more than minecraft graphics.

It's the animation that's the important part, really. If the movement is boss then the rest will fall into place.

Love the passion of these fellas and the gameplay ideas they have in store, but I'm wary of the execution.

Their concept video is pretty poorly animated, and the assets and environment look very amateur, despite the experience of the team.
Maybe most of that prior retail game experience is in their coders, since the art isn't up to snuff.

Yes, it's a CONCEPT video, but that mock gameplay video is what's used to ignite interest in the project.
Maybe they're going for that specific look (simple/old school), but for me, it's not working.

I'll wait for an update video before I back this.

For me, the bottom line is: I have never had a significant problem with Steam, ever.

It never feels intrusive, or uncooperative. It always works. And I always play my games.

You are fully aware that those two services track and retain every user input, every post, every in-game action, even those you wouldn't even consider trackable.
I fail to see how this has much negative effect on my life...

Limited installs would essentially be the only thing that would irk me.

I backed these guys based solely on the fact that I like them and they deserve to make their dream game.
I don't even like turn based RPG's very much. Hell, I haven't even played one!

But these guys are so passionate and genuine, I couldn't resist helping them.

The fact that the game looks really purdy doesn't hurt, either

EDIT: I'm also quite surprised they haven't blown past their funding goal already.
