Coming from someone who co-lead a team making a UT2004 total conversion that never truly saw the light of day after 2.5 years of daily development (coder issues, as always); I'm happy as hell to see at least some of this mod released.
Been following Black Mesa from the start and I'm pumped to play it, even if it would come out in hour long chunks of gameplay. |

| Although the constant cutscene syndrome put me off initially, the fantastic gunplay more than made up for it's annoyance. |

Yakubs wrote on Aug 10, 2012, 09:48: These are "creative" only in the sense that the developer came up with them as alternatives to standard FPS weapons. They're not "creative" in the way a game like this SHOULD be, i.e., rewarding player creativity through dynamic and reactive game systems. This is just another theme park FPS headed to the bargain bin. Very well put and I fully agree. It's an illusion of variety. |

There's no cockpit / driver view in this one.
Just FYI. Aaaannnddd I just lost interest.
Played the whole of GRID in cockpit view. Far more immersive than any other view IMO. Full sense of speed and bumps.
That's disappointing to say the least. |

Mafia 2 was fantastic, apart from some overly long intervals of driving.
Joe's DLC seemed cool, but the timelimits put me off. Anyone know if there's a way to disable them? |

It looks like a bad Alice in Wonderland knock off... and that movie wasn't even good. |

The gameplay was fantastic, regardless of the series' history. I found myself replaying most shootouts multiple times, to go about it differently and get the most stylized, well executed run.
Euphoria physics + Slo-mo + killer graphics = win
Even the droning cutscenes, annoying last stand mechanic and forgettable (see: pretty terrible) story couldn't keep me from loving the game
Plus, it ran very well on my old-ish PC

I am thoroughly enjoying Max Payne 3, though a few annoyances stand out, one of which I'm not sure has been mentioned by Blues commenters..
-I am SO sick of the last stand mechanic. I really wish I could turn it off. It's practically ruining the game at this point. I would much rather die than to have it kick in ever again. That, and the 'final kill' zoom in shot could be dropped and I wouldn't miss them the least bit. Last stand is especially lame, though.
-There are some very strange plot points and twists. Sometimes what Max does or says seems very illogical. I know he's supposed to be on a bender from hell but still...
-And yes, the cutscenes are overpowering and unwelcome on many occasions. Taking control away from the player consistently so that Max can open a door or flip a switch or scratch his balls is VERY unnecessary. Seriously, if those were all for the purpose of loading, they should have optimized their shit better.
All in all though, the fantastic gunplay, which stays in the same vein as the original games, is the glue that holds this game together. That and the phenomenal graphics/animations. Although some say that moving Max feels clunky in comparison to the older games - which is true, per se - I find his movement to be absolutely fine, and does not affect my blasting-fools proficiency.
Awesome game.
PS. Using blind fire is sublime. I love riddling dudes from behind cover. Being able 'stick' to cover objects in a Max Payne game worked out well. And really, you don't have to use it, either. |

Watch Dogs was an explosive breath of fresh air me thinks. The last time I was so blown away by an E3 Trailer/demo was when I first viewed the Max Payne E3 Trailer in 2001. I remember just screaming with joy.
Ubisoft rocked E3 this year, man.
Watch Dogs, AC3 and Far Cry 3.
Might as well have called it Ubisoft Entertainment Expo |

Looks fantastic.
I was wary of it being mostly scripted, but if there's an alternate playthrough I'd love to see it.
Linkage please |
