I played it well after release, so I'm assuming it's been patched a bunch of times.
I never saw any texture even remotely as bad as the ones you linked to.
There are a lot of times while playing RAGE I'd stop and look around in awe... even take screenshots.
A lot of love went into the level building, and it shows in item placement and wear n tear on surfaces and objects.

I agree about the dynamic lighting though. Everything is either baked or cheated in some way to make it look decent.
The baked lighting can look great at times, though.

I really don't know how people rag on RAGE for having bad graphics. That game could look absolutely STUNNING at times.
It was a technical marvel in it's creative approach to texture painting.
And no, textures that take 1/100 of a second to load doesn't bother me.

Also, the gunplay was a lot of fun

Yeah, I'm not sure I understand that. Maybe they don't want the gameplay competing with their other flagship franchise.

Still, even with countless AI playing, it's going to be obvious there are only a few players in there. 6v6 is like.. we're taking a step back from the original DOOM

Either way, I'm still optimistic

To be fair, spending upwards of $60 on something you don't like is kind of a bummer, but that doesn't warrant pirating.

It does however warrant waiting for a Steam sale, which is what I usually do

I'm truly surprised at how much better this looks than the first few trailers that came out.

There is still hand-holding and dumbed down gameplay, but at least it looks fun!

So, to anyone who plays Day Z.. how frequent are interesting encounters akin to the ones seen in youtube vids?
It looks incredibly fun at times, but I feel like there's a hell of a lot of boredom in between.

I think that was my favorite as well. For it's time, it was a blast...
I can't even count how many hours I spent downloading custom cars for that game. I used to have my buddies come over and we'd just sit and download cars to test them out all day
