| That's what I'm saying. Animation plays a huge role in immersing a player, and this is lacking. |

I loved the game. I'm glad it's selling well
Jacob, once you get past the cutscenes and get into some juicy battles. Just replay them over and over again. Some of them are incredibly cinematic and satisfying. |

Their stretch goal for 3 million should be licensing Cryengine 3.
What do you even say for a stretch goal that is more than triple the original cost? You'll make 3 episodes of the game? It's getting a little ridiculous how much money people are throwing at this. Save some for the other starving creative projects.
The ingame assets in the Lord British kickstarter are atrocious. Sure, you may scream that it's an early prototype, but that doesn't mean preliminary assets need to be so bland and unoriginal... and circa 2001. Doesn't instill much faith in their art team, or Art Director. |

They did a nice job on Wake Island as well, though I'm not huge on the flow of that map. I'd even like to see some maps from Bad Company 2 make a return, like the snowy map from it's beta.

I gotta say, the graphics, animation and effects leave a lot to be desired.
I'm sure the gameplay makes up for it in a lot of ways, but you're being pulled out of the immersion by the visuals.
jdreyer wrote on Mar 8, 2013, 03:40: OR do you mean that EA has Dice in indentured servitude so they should take revenge by releasing the Frostbite engine to the public? That would be absolutely fucking awesome. If only people could make custom maps with the same freedom as say, CS 1.6/source, I think BF3 would live just as long. |

EA should just release a map editor for BF3 that's like 10 bucks. I'd buy it and I'm sure a ton of other people would too.
Then again, this prolongs the life of their game, which they DEFINITELY don't want!
I also don't see the concern over consolization of upcoming titles, especially EA, after seeing how well BF3 runs, looks and feels as a PC gamer.
Verno wrote on Mar 6, 2013, 14:59: I totally disagree, the ability to communicate effectively with people is crucial for teamwork. I don't really care if Johnny Halo wants to order everyone around, its easy to include ignore options, I just want the ability to send and receive contextual warning and coordination. The in-game wheel doesn't even come close to cutting it. BF3 has more than enough twitch that I can't stop to warn people in text because events have already happened. You can't easily make adhoc mumble parties with random strangers, it's fine to say use your own VOIP when playing with friends but playing with friends isn't always an option.
It would be nice to have VOIP in just your squad, or a proximity VOIP where you can only hear people within 40 feet in conquest and 10 ft in TDM, or something.

To counter the 'lack of teamwork' argument, why not just log on with buddies on Teamspeak and play? I usually do this whenever I want to play conquest or rush, but for TDM it's a shitfest free-for-all - which admittedly, I like sometimes.
Also, I play BF3 all the time and never encounter hackers. If I do, they don't have an effect on my enjoyment, since it's not all that noticable. Or maybe I play on great servers.
I love BF3, I think it's a hell of a lot of fun. The weight and feel of guns is perfect if you ask me. The scope of maps is huge with a large variety of vehicles. The graphics and sound are absolutely stunning. You can customize a wide range of weapons and there's incentive to level up, do assignments, etc. There is A LOT in this game, really, and I was happy to go Premium to get all the content. Rather that than they release a totally new game and I'd need to switch back and forth, or worse, the previous one (and it's maps) obsolete. Would be nice to have mod support, naturally.
My main complaint is getting shot in the back and side when I've been hoofin it for 3 minutes
If you guys are so concerned about VOIP and teamplay, why not group up as a Blue's crew on Ventrillo/TS and play together?
I'm down. |

I also didn't like the glowing effect on targeted people. I know it's akin to the story but it kills the immersion |

At least THAT had the dark brotherhood and thief questlines, which were absolutely amazing (assassins) and mostly amazing (Thief). Sadly to few games ever get the "be evil" right..... at least Oblivion tried. I agree, though my first Oblivion playthrough I wanted to be a nice guy and help everyone that I could, therefore anything evil was a strict no no. Unfortunately, I never got around to doing that full second playthrough as an evil badass in the dark brotherhood |

I was very pumped to play this, but unfortunately after trying the BETA, I found the gameplay very underwhelming. It gets old REALLY fast, too.
The graphics are pretty sub par as well - although the smoke, explosion and blood effects are top notch. |

This looks more like that crappy photoshop filter than cel-shading.
That Prince of Persia reboot and Darkness 2 had really nice cel-shading.
As for Dark, looks like balls in every possible way. |

Well I saw the GT review and from how they portrayed the game it's a gory shoot em up. I think the amount of blood looks very out of place in a Tomb Raider game. It's borderline horror flick
Still, I should check out more reviews, since you guys are saying there's more than meets the eye.
