But if you're going to fire people, let's call it what it is. The "tired euphemisms" serve only to antagonize, especially the affected employees I'm sure. Do they have any benefit or positive effect on anyone? Maybe fanboys, who will believe anything and everything and spin the worst news as the best thing ever, but screw them. For the rest of us, just say you're eliminating redundancies to cut costs and maximize profits. What's wrong with being honest, upfront, and to the point?

Yeah, that's what bothers me the most. I remeber being laid off from one company - they basically cut us all lose to shift our office to Colorado - and they actually hired some asshole "specialist" to do it. I can't even remember all the PR babble, but it was a lot of bullshit about realignments and shifting priorities and restructuring things. We all knew what was coming but it literally took us about 5 minutes to realize we were being canned with all this corporate babble coming out of his mouth. Once that happened a bunch of us just got up and walked out. I would have had a lot more respect for them - and been a lot less pissed off - if they had the stones to do it themsselves to begin with and just came out and said it plain and simple, 'Sorry folks, you're all fired. We're relocating this office to Denver and only a few key people will be getting invites. Thanks for your hard work and best of luck in the future. To cushion the blow we have some lovely parting gifts for you. Show 'em what they've won, Bob!'

I wonder how much this set Valve back. They had to pay ESPN for this coverage for sure.
Eh? I'd think it would be the other way around. ESPN would be paying for access.

Normally yes, but I can imagine the execs at ESPN laughing their asses off when asked if they want to cover a video game tournament. Gaben probably had to give them a mil to do it.

Why is Weird Al spoofing that? This generation of shallow, empty, vacuous kids who celebrate style over substance is nothing that should be promoted. If anything those idiotic kids are guaranteed to be the next generation of career fast-food workers. It's just a shame so much tax money has to be wasted on them.

Aw, man. Johnny Winter rocked. RIP Johnny, may your strings always be in tune.

He just played here on March 21st. Didn't catch the show unfortunately. But yeah, he was a monster player. 70 is a pretty good run for someone who lived as hard as he did.

If you're going to allowed yourself to be photographed nude then expect it to surface somewhere sometime. If they want to give themselves insecurity complexes by looking at my massive unit that's their problem.

I don't know why these people from Nokia weren't already looking for work. Mergers mean redundancy and without fail the acquired company's employees are almost always the ones to be shitcanned. The smart people look at getting out while the talk of an acquisition are still rumours.

Surprised it's not F2P yet.

They are milking the last subs a bit more, just wait another 5-6 month.

Last year some of us were guessing when this would go F2P. I think I said after a year. I think Cutter said after 6 months, but I don't recall.

Pretty sure Cutter says 6 months for every new MMO with a subscription

6-12 months, and right most of the time. Christ, I remember how many people jumped down my throat when I called it on SWTOR. Well I got the last laugh on that one. Go look at recent - like within the past month - reviews on this game from players. They're panning it hard. It actually sounds like it's worse now then when it launched. And the reason I say 6 months is because that's when the majority of subs come up - not including the free month - and all of a sudden the devs realize they're up shit creek without a paddle and need to get new blood in because no one is renewing and they're all leaving.

With Bethsoft backing this, they may hold out a little longer but in the end it will happen sooner rather than later, do not doubt.

Yeah, no way you'll get money from Winterkewl - Christ, that name alone should have been a huge red flag - but I'd like to see someone successfully sue Yogcast. They very definitely do have an obligation here. Hell, this could even potentially be considered a bait and switch.

I signed up for it but no invite yet. It's pretty aracdey looking but if you can literally drive across the US I'm curious as hell to see how that'll work.

And how is Mrs. Blue with you getting a lizard?

I'd like to get a hedgehog, but they're a lot of work.

Edit: Looks like everyone is doing Bethsoft sales this weekend for Quakecon, Amazon and Steam's are spread out over the next 3 days.

How about skipping the fine and sending the suits involved to prison for 20 years? Fines mean nothing to companies like Apple. Getting sent to Pound-me-in-the-ass prison for 20 years will put a stop to these shenanigans PDQ!

What a useless study. There are plenty more credible studies that clearly show that texting does negatively impact grammar skills. They can't even master rudimentary grammar skills.
