Better to put them on a pedestal than scaffold. Don't think these extol the virtues of war or encourage submission to the War Machine. The soldiers are just as much victims in this venture as people who suffered during that time, if anything are testament of war being hell.

That said, Google could do better to customize 'doodles' for different countries or regions where they hold some significance. I think they can afford to do that.

It's the standard hypocritical schlock. War is bad. Never forget. Insert meaningless platitude here. Yet since WWII the amount of money that has gone into the war machine has increased exponentially decade after decade. Same with the amount of conflicts in the world. These soldiers choose to go so no, they're not victims. They can - and should - object. There hasn't been a single valid reason for us to go to war anywhere since WWII. Everything since then has been about hegemony and economics. War is bad, right up until the moment they want to have one then it's all cheerleading and denigrating anyone who opposes it. Fuck that noise.

QFT....

"Why stop at D-Day? Let's insist on memorializing major battles of every war throughout history! /s

People really need to stop it with the putting soldiers on a pedestal nonsense. While D-day was an important event in Western history, it's not so important that it needs to be the foremost thing on people's minds 70 years later."

I'm so tired of the War Machine trying to glorify war when the end result is people dying needlessly and the taxpayers being robbed mercilessly when there are so many other important areas that money should be spent. No soldier has ever lifted a finger in defense of me in my lifetime. But they have invaded plenty of sovereign nations at the behest of big multi-national corporations, so I don't understand exactly what I'm supposed to be thanking them for, because it sure as shit isn't my freedom or the people being exploited by those multi-nationals in those countries.

Fucking Polygon. What a hypocritical lefty rag. They constantly whine about this shit but are more than happy to go to these things, accept the free swag, free games, and advertising dollars from these companies. The classic 'Do as I say, and not as I do' BS.

The systematic state surveillance in our country is more of a reflection of our socialist society than it is about the corporations who are forced to comply. Socialism is the inevitable product of thinking that the government needs to solve our problems. It is the product of 'my will be done' thinking and not 'thy will be done.'

There are those who use every opportunity to put all the blame on the corporations and none of it on the government because they are in denial that they also want the government involved in every aspect of our lives. They just want an enemy and corporations are the faceless enemy to boost their ego where they can be morally superior at every turn. Easier to put the blame on others rather than look at how they themselves try to control society through the violence (or threat of) of government control and use good-sounding intentions to do it.

Why and how do you always go to socialism? How do you even get there? America, Britain, et al. aren't socialist countries. They're fascist. Perhaps you could call them oligarchies/plutocracies. The corporations are the government in all but name. Over 85% of legislation is directly written by corporations now. The government spying on you is at their behest and in their interests.

Why the fuck do you think none of them were complaining about this when the general public didn't know but only suspected. Now that's it costing them money they're posturing publicly about how wrong it all is. In the much more, actual, real socialist countries they're not having these problems. Nor are they having massive problems with wealth gaps, etc. etc. etc. You should be so lucky to live in a socialist country. The only people on the entire planet that decry socialism as evil are a small percentage of brainwashed hardcore, right-wing Americans. Which pretty much tells you everything you need to know on the subject.

Yeah, tons of stuff can be interacted with, crafted, used in the environment. It's awesome as a possum. This is about the only thing I've backed I'm really happy about so far. Wish I had never given dime to Fargo and those jerks at inXile. And I'm pretty worried about the lack of progress from Project Eternity. With that last update it just seems it's hella behind schedule. And they had the gall to even ask if they should do yet more stretch goals with it. Just get it out the fucking door already.

inXile is the one doing Wasteland 2, yah? What have they've been doing that's disappointed you? I'm not up on W2 progress since it was kickstarted and then I saw a demo a few months ago on youtube. Are they f'ing it up?

No, I just don't like how they've handled it. Larian gave all their backers alpha and beta access. Most everything has been on time or close to it. And they're been really cool with the fans.

inXile on the other hand has been late repeatedly and never once apologized. And then they start gouging people by charging for beta access. When I stated it was greedy and tacky on their boards some producer asshole emails me and tells me they don't want me as a customer and he'll refund my money. Plus the interest and exchange rate I've lost in waiting over 2 years for this thing? No. Ok fuckoff then. So unlike any other normal business which would be apologizing this clown is insulting and telling paying customers off. So yeah, I won't ever be giving inXile another dime and will do my utmost to let others know they shouldn't either. Larian is a company that is grateful for your business and inXile wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire. So make up your own mind about who you'd rather support.
