Would be nice, Tim, but that ship has sailed.

The problem isn't AT&T so much as it's the governments they're buying off. If the voters in those districts won't do anything about it then it's their own fault. If you don't care about democracy you don't deserve it and won't have it.

Speaks volumes about this franchise when they have to publicly state the game will work. And Helf has the right of it. Work? Sure, but how well?

Blue, there's a "betty crocker cake mix" quiz ad that throws up pop-ups. Just as an FYI. It closes readily enough, but pop-ups typically make people quickly reach for the adblocker again.

Why are you searching for cakes?

I've got an ad for Restasis eye drops right now.
Computer I haven't taken those in years.

Sometimes a man just wants some cake.

The cake is a lie.

And Blue, as the old expression goes, cheap is usually pretty expensive. Find better parts or buy a better toilet. I've installed a few new toilets over the years and never had to replace them, or much fix them either.

I've met more than one highly intelligent person with very advanced degrees who are unable to find work in their field at at a decent pay rate. People become so specialized with PhDs that they all end up competing for the same 20 or 30 jobs. When there's a glut of PhDs it causing degree hiring inflation, which is even worse.

As an aside, I wish people would recognize that having a HS diploma is the same has having no diploma and fund free public education through to the level of at least an associate's or trade school education. Also, the stigma on trade work needs to be erased. There is nothing great about any white collar worker that sets him above a good plumber or welder.

PhD high energy physics, here. Having trouble finding work.

And most of my family are professional tradesmen making 6 figures and turning down work all the time. Even I have a hard time trying to get them in to do some work for me and I'm willing to pay the going rates because I'd rather keep it in the family.

And so long as programs like H-B1 and their ilk remain there will be a glut of overeducated people here because it's exactly what the big corps want and most people are too lazy or feel they're better than the trades. So it's lose-lose for them.

Why do they even bother wasting time and money on this sort of bullshit that will never happen? I'd actually respect them more if they were honest and just came out and said, 'We're a virtual a monopoly you won't do anything about so go fuck yourselves.'

That's pretty massive oversight. Wonder how their legal department missed that one initially. Yeah, that would be interesting to see someone get popped for breaking wiretapping laws with this.

I feel so sorry for Microsoft that they can't pay people what it takes to fill those vacant jobs. Maybe if they didn't throw away $2.5 billion on Minecraft...but aren't they sitting on a ton of cash?

Or is this really about depressing wages by bringing in temporary workers from other countries?

That's what the entire H-1B program is about, cheap labour. There is zero shortage of skilled workers. There's a major shortage of employers that want to play employees fairly, nevermind well.

There does seem to have been something of a golden age then. Kelly's Heroes and Bridge Over The River Kwai are more greats from that era.

A few don't hold up so well, inevitably. Where Eagles Dare goes a bit far IMHO, with Clint Eastwood gunning down soldiers like he's playing Call of Duty, and anything with David Niven in probably won't be a favourite of mine but each to their own. I think From Russia With Love is one of the best Bond films so clearly I have awful, awful taste

I'll grant you Eagles is a bit fantastic but Burton was so damn good in it. And how can you not like David Niven?!?! Love that man! And I'd say my favourite Bond flick now is Skyfall, followed by FRWL. Anything with Robert Shaw is the tits. If you haven't seen Battle of the Bulge you have to, just because of him alone.

They should use the Grateful Dead's I Will Survive as the theme song. Or Eye Of The Tiger by Survivor.

Yes, they are.

Seattle Compost Guidelines

I'm talking about yard compost, not industrial compost accepted by the city and used for fuels. If they mean green bins, we have those too. However home composting of meat and meat by-products, dairy and oils are a bad thing.
