And yet, the USMNT did comfortably better than England (and of course far better than the other British teams, none of whom qualified) and there's no particular reason why this should surprise anyone. Wow, a country with 6 times our population and who are famous for their interest in sport can find 23 people rather good at playing one of the most popular ones?! Well done them!

By that logic, China should always win the world cup. Or at least be in competition. Yet they didn't even qualify.

Also, to quote John Oliver about soccer in America: "Soccer is something you take your ten-year-old to."

The logic is sound. Look at the Olympics. Who are the countries that always dominate? The ones with the largest populations coupled with large and expensive programs. Russia, China, America all have programs that start training from childhood. And they have access to all the best stuff. I remember a stat years ago that was something like the average US high school football program spends more on athletic tape than most countries do on their entire PE programs. Also the us just imports a lot of talent. Fast track to a green card if you're good at a sport.

The popularity of the sport HAS risen in the US. I grew up with a family that loved soccer. Both my parents are immigrants and they grew up with soccer as well. I always played it as a kid as opposed to football or baseball. I can tell you from first hand experience that 20 years ago when I'd be watching the World Cup my friends would be like 'you're watching soccer?' Today I go to the local sports-bar during a US game and it's packed to the gills with cheering fans, most of them white North-Easterners like myself.

It certainly doesn't have the scale of the 'big 4' here in the US but it's popularity is growing rapidly. The US has done fairly well in the last decade+ in the World Cup, and that can only help.

Yeah, that's the thing. Almost every immigrant in NA comes from somewhere where footy is all there is. All my friends who are 1st or 2nd generation here are all big into footy and they're constantly going to see Toronto play. The MLS is doing well but it'll never be huge here. Unlike the rest of the world North America also has tons more going on Football, Basketball, Baseball, NASCAR, etc. etc. etc. all vying for your attention and dollars, whereas in most of the world all they really have is footy.

So it's Germany or Belgium to win it all. In honour of Germany's forthcoming win tomorrow I say we blitzkreig across the Maginot line...oh wait!

Nice one Britain. I wish to fuck they'd have some actual real decent standards for ads here as well. It really is the scummiest industry in the world.

What Looking Glass produced was seminal. What Eidos produced was a POS. Really, just an awful game from people who very obviously had no clue what made the originals so good.

The guy got some of the greatest games of all times to his pedigree. Let's give him the benefit of the doubt.

You do realize this guy was an exec at Zynga right? And you do realize that at his time at Zynga he had a lot to say in support for the world of mobile gaming?

Sounds like someone I wouldn't trust with the revival of a respected franchise from before the days of corporate plundering.

Exactly. For all we know it could turn out to be an 8bit mobile game. So yeah, I'm going to temper my expectations accordingly until there's a real reason to be excited.

This tons better than W2 - from what I've seen so far. And I will not be surprised in the least to see W2 pushed back...yet again.

This always shocks me when you compare Steam to League of Legends at 7.5 million for one game and WOW now has 7.6 subscribers. 900,000 for DOTA2.

Steam is doing well.

Yeah, so the devs and publshers should take to remember that unless they're averse to making money.

Why do the PR people keep allowing her to speak when she's only there to be pretty? Everything she just stated only shows why she should have never been promoted in the first place. That's the problem when companies choose looks over talent.

Jade Raymond produced Assassin's Creed, one of the biggest franchises currently going. But, yes Cutter, she's only there because of her looks and shouldn't be allowed to speak.

There's absolutely no way Cutter isn't a single 44 year old in his mother's basement wearing a fedora, trench coat and My Little Pony graphic tee.

I like Jade Raymond, yes she's pretty, but she also seems to know what she's talking about and clearly hasn't just memorized a bunch of buzzwords and talking points before interviews. If it wasn't the gaming industry she was in, nobody would give a damn what she looked like.

Of course, that said, I don't really give a damn about this particular interview, I'm still gonna click on it, cause..... they'll probably post a picture of her.... yeah.

Do yourself a favour and put that troll on ignore like all the other smart people around here.
