In vacuum?

he might be referring to the thing they did in the movie 2010 when they had to slow down and basically skimmed off the planet's atmosphere it was kind of awesome because the whole ship was shaking and everybody was shaking and shitting themselves I thought that was one of the coolest parts of the movie.

Aerobraking is the term.

KSP for life!

Fun game but I'm still waiting for a proper sequel with MUCH needed multi-core support.

That Star Trek mod for it is pretty great though. As long as you don't let the Borg get out of control. F'ing Borg.

So true about the sequel, there are a few places where the game could be improved I think, performance would be one of the bigger ones though.

I'll have to check out the star trek mod, I checked out the star wars one (I can't recall the name, atm) and I felt it was pretty solid as well.

A response to the issue/article is what I meant, not the people you're angry at for various reasons. Beamer is one of two people on my permanent ignore list and will never come off but JD is pretty level headed and you just disagree on this. There's really no need for "does being a SJW get you laid" type crap, that's some childish stuff.

That was a tongue firmly in cheek comment by me to break up the previously phony seriousness going on in here. Actually, living and working in the Yale portion of New Haven, one of the most liberal spots in the whole country, I see this kind of crap all the time.

There's only two people that deserve to be globally ignored, Beamer and Cutter. It's fitting because they are both on opposite ends of the idiot spectrum.

As for the article I don't disagree with any of it. Most of what they wrote sounds less like a problem for women than part of a larger problem of just plain horrible unfiltered bigots with internet access. Where's the discussion about the anti-Semitic stuff sweeping social media?

You can construct fantasies about the personal lives of people who disagree with you all you want, but you just succeed in making yourself looking small.

It seems like a safe bet given your behavior in this thread that, even if the community tried to discuss something like anti-semitism you'd just accuse those who would disagree with you as being inauthentic anyway and then avoid discussion. Like now, you'll hope the characterization of those people you disagree with which you created in your head, can do the work for you.
Luckily humans can handle more than one thing at a time so people can care about something like this AND anti-semitism.
After all, you made up the reason of those who disagree with you of only wanting to make you feel bad, and you say people who discuss racism can do so as well, so why would we expect any different answers from you beyond the poo flinging you brought to this thread.

In my experience Blue seems willing to accept articles to share, if you want to introduce the discussion, why not submit something to him?

Quite frankly I haven't seen people drawing comparison to the civil rights movement in the way you claim.

You didn't read what he quoted? The guy you were arguing with didn't bring them up first, the person he was replying to was.

But again, jdryer didn't say it was just like civil rights issues of the 1960s, he drew a comparison to responses from then and now, and then everyone is now saying jdryer is saying it's just like civil rights in the 1960's which no one ever claimed.

"1960s: Those people that write about racial inequality should just shut up already. Constantly writing about it won't do anything."

Doesn't translate to, "I think this is exactly like the civil right movement of the 1960's." I think the idea was to point out how dismissive people can be of marginalized groups.

Edit: this is all kind of a derail, they've moved beyond it so I will shut up about it, :).

So why make the ridiculous comparisons that you did? You were the one who offered them.

Other people first made comparisons to racial discrimination and other major issues. If they don't want the comparison made then they shouldn't bring it up. People who are comparing those to a gender issue in video games are really sheltered in my opinion, there are much bigger problems going on in the world to devote my support to.

Quite frankly I haven't seen people drawing comparison to the civil rights movement in the way you claim. Nobody on this thread has done so, so to pretend that people you disagree with are claiming it's *just like* the civil rights movements of the 1960's is just being disingenuous.
Sure you can point out how it's NOT similar to the 1960's, but nobody was arguing it was exactly like it, so you're kind of wasting your breath to pretend they were doing so.

Are people burning symbols on women's lawns? How many games have "men only" sections, and will beat up women if they try to play? Are there parades in city streets promoting the superiority of men over women? How many women have been literally hung for gaming?

Ridiculous comparisons only succeed in turning off those who might actually support a cause.

So why make the ridiculous comparisons that you did? You were the one who offered them.

The only comparison being drawn was the reaction some people have when the issue is discussed. Everything else you're trying to introduce is just setting up a straw-man.

Just a quick life lesson from yours truly.

Men have always dominated this planet.

Men will ALWAYS dominate this planet, unless a woman creates an army strong enough to defeat man altogether (and unless there's some kind of sex wars that started and I haven't heard about it then that's probably never going to happen).

Men mostly have designed and created society and the laws that govern it.

If women want anything to change they simply have to remove all men from positions of power. And the only way that'll ever happen is if there is war against men, worldwide, and they win. The problem with this is men tend to be very good at war & in times of crisis, they band together.

So there you have it, the problem is solved, either sex war against the entire world or nothing changes. Simple really

There are people who feel the same about race as you do about gender. They are also incorrect in their assumptions.

I must admit that I'm still butthurt that the Halo PC/Mac game that was demoed at E3 2000 never came to fruition. The open world, high player count, vehicle based multiplayer sounded incredible. Fucking Microsoft.

While I don't care myself, I think it's a bit different.

It's not like Bungie demoed all the stuff on the Xbox one and THEN went on to say it's not happening.

Now that youtube supports high frame rates they should get on releasing their gameplay previews as such.

I guess in some cases it could be considered false advertising, but that's never stopped them in the past.

Edit: I suppose if it's in alpha state the in-game performance might not be there yet.

Agreed, Xbox fans complaining about the arrangements Sony has made with Activision in terms of content and timed exclusivity is rich.

In this case Sony is just outplaying MS at their own game.

When these same people start complaining about how exclusives are lame instead of engaging in the same #dealwithit mentality they seem so butthurt about, I'll believe them.

Beamer, I think I speak for most of us when I say that you really need to screw off. Nobody cares. The Japanese make mostly Japanese characters because, SURPRISE, they're in a culture which is almost entirely Japanese. If you have a problem with that, why not fly over there and picket outside Nintendo's home office? Surely that would make them aware that there are other cultures better than arguing with the rest of us.

How about you don't put speak for the rest of us, if someone wants to say something they are obviously welcome to do so, but don't presume you speak for the people here.

People always talk up the voice commands, you'd almost forget they've been trying to sell a camera.

I wonder when we can get this kind of voice technology in the palm of our hands!

The kind of innovation they seem to be interested in anyway seems to only involve ways of milking their customers, so I guess it's true.

I agree with him, the Oculus Rift and other current generation VR won't sell in particularly big numbers, as in, not enough to make $2B look any more reasonable. This sort of gear is very promising and I believe signals the point at which VR can exist in terms of the technology and the market, but it's not the point at which your stereotypical CoD-Bro will be in a hurry to get one. Something closer to large sunglasses will be needed for that.

I got an Oculus Rift DK1 a few days ago, it is very cool. There's definitely things which need work but it's promising. The resolution (640800 per eye) is even more of a problem than I'd expected, I'm not so sure 1080p will be enough for CV1 any more. I felt more used to the tracking after 10 seconds than I did with TrackIR after 10 hours, this is unexpectedly impressive.

The CV1 is supposed to be higher res then the dk2, or at least someone from Oculus has said as much. They havent' said what that res will be though.

I don't know if it will completely eliminate the screen door effect, but as I understand it, it's something that your eyes adjust to anyway, and the dk2 is quite the improvement on this.
It's only a really big deal for the objects further back, as I understand it. Anyway, hopefully a higher res (and not having to buy cellphone scraps) will improve upon this to where it's not a hurdle in the CV1 version, or so I hope.

not sure your setup has more power than an xbone. xbone has an 8 core cpu and its gpu is a bit slower than yours, but same gen. and no, i doubt it could run something like star citizen at 60fps in an occulus.

An 8 Core Tablet CPU.

EA - Titfall... sounds odd, since the first one sold well enough it releases EA from having to make TitFall 2 exclusive for the Bone.

Who makes contracts like this? Seems odd that T2 being open for the PS4 was based on good sales for the Bone and PC.

Yeah, if this game was performing as they expected they wouldn't be shutting up about it, just like every other big release that goes as anticipated or better.

Another person interviewed at the end of that clip, the VP Of Product, refers to the consumer version as Consumer V1, so they've presumably got more in mind in the future. Not a surprise.

In the past they've said they want to do iterative releases, so it makes sense.

As you said yourself, the 360 needs to be able to run titanfall

No, I'm saying the opposite. It doesn't need to be on the 360. The quality of the gameplay has suffered because of it.

AS my comment said, I agree with the 'quality' of the game suffering. But, they decided it was worth more money to make sure it ran on the 360, so, it NEEDED to, because that was the requirement that they set.

Many console gamers are always say how the extra cost for higher resolutions and textures isn't worth the cost, so I don't know why paying 500 bucks to play a game you can already play at 60 bucks at the same resolution will be the system seller they think it will be.

That's not to say it won't move units, I just think some people have some wild numbers in mind.
