And like every other DRM that decided crap like this would be a great idea, many legit users will have this pop up...

To my knowledge this hasn't happened yet to anybody (on Steam anyway) since it was released.

5 buddies and I just played through the entire game. It's definitely the worst of the series. I love Croteam, but I recommend against this one. I am really disappointed in them for releasing this. Probably 4 hours max, on the highest difficulty. Not good.

I'm having trouble believing you, especially from the videos I've seen, the great reviews I've read and especially the cluster#!&@ that was Serious Sam 2.

No need to have trouble. His entire post is gibberish.

The game is what Serious Sam 2 should have been. It took me 15 hours in single player on Normal Difficulty to complete (just killing things, not exploring or looking for secrets), and it's about the same pace with friends on multiplayer. Survival Mode is awesome, but the mode could use more levels which I hope will come with free DLC.

It is an excellent game once you get past the first couple levels, and possibly the best in the series. It has its flaws (like the Space Monkeys, very tedious), but absolutely nothing major.

Edit: and it's only 29.99 at Get Games RIGHT NOW

I've played it for around 3 hours now. It started off quite slow but when it finally picks up pace it feels like old Sam is back again. I'm not a fan of the new generic modern warfare guns, I'd much prefer the old fashioned SS skins instead. Obviously it's a Serious Sam game so forget about any plot whatsoever. Croteam barely setup one from the start of the game which is absolutely fine for Sam. If you are a fan of the old games you'll probably like the new one but even though it feels like Sam it hasn't yet given me that frantic feel the original did. Maybe after playing for a few more hours it'll kick in but the original hit hard right from the first level on. Starting off at a slow pace might turn off some anxious gamers who want to jump right into hordes of monsters attacking you at the same time as SS1 and SS:SE were. I do think a demo would benefit them for selling this especially after the horrible game that was serious Sam 2 years ago. At least there is no signs of that game at all in the new one Thank GOD!

If I recall correctly the first levels in Serious Sam were actually pretty slow too, it wasn't until the later levels that things really picked up on a grand scale.

This is 100% correct for SS1, SE and SS2

Am I the only one who likes FF8?
Nah I enjoyed it too, despite some things not making sense, being broken or just plain ridiculous. Best soundtrack in the series next to FFVI's. There are enough issues in this game, however, to justify the hate it gets from many. Some examples (there are more than what I will mention here) of the issues I mentioned, if you can get over some of these there's a good game in there {spoiler tag highlight below):

Didn't make sense: Everything that happened in Space. All of it. Ragnarok, Squall flying around / spacewalking, why a space program even exists, why Adel (think that's the name) is up there and why didn't they just throw Adel in a Volcano, why are there armies of monsters on the moon and why don't they immediately destroy civilization when they land on Earth. Where do they even go? Just just land and that's the last you hear of it.

Broken: Junction System. Within an hour of playing the game, you can draw enough magic to make your characters gods, powerful enough to own the first half of the game.

Ridiculous: Rinoa/Squall romantic relationship. Just as absurd as the Anakin/Amidala deal in the prequel Star Wars eps. There's just no reason (in the narrative or anywhere else) for them to have developed any kind of relationship, absolutely god awful writing there.

I don't know about everyone else, but I used to be substantially better at video games when I was 5-10years old than I am today. The entire Ninja Gaiden NES series, Super Mario 1 & 3 etc. I could run through Ninja Gaiden 1 on just a couple lives back then, no continues. For some reason I have trouble beating the first level now without dying 20 years later.

A game accessible to a five year old, yet easily enjoyable and challenging to adults is indeed a great piece of design. For me, I am 99% sure I would have found this game easier as a five year old than I will as an adult.

Why?
For one, having a Facebook account is normal now. It's a sign of a decently adjusted social person. Not having one sends off alarms of Unabomber.

But even then, perhaps the profile is just hard to find, so not a huge deal. ...
Which candidate do you think the recruiter will be acting on?
Obviously this is the difference between Canada and the US. In Canada, requiring something like that is a violation of the employment and hiring act. Plus in Canada, despite being prolific at having FB accounts, privacy of the individual still reigns supreme, because it's protected in codified law.

To plenty of people, having a FB account means that it's a cry for attention, because you don't get enough of it.

Well no one has made enough of a stink about that if it is illegal. Many of the jobs I see in the Vancouver business sector require candidates to have a LinkedIn profile to be considered. Both Facebook and LinkedIn are online profiles where you can control how much/what information you want to share. I have seen recruiters want other things, including Facebook, before. That is far less common, however.

Well it's about time.

They announced 11.1 active subscribers 3 months ago nearly to the day. They provide these numbers every three months, and have since the beginning of WoW Acti/Blizzard.

You could hear in Mike Morhaimes voice today a bit of concern, but it does appear they have a number of decent strategies to mitigate the losses, deal with ToR in the long term and even bring a lot of people back.

Edit: Correction, they have announced numbers since the beginning of Acti/Blizzard. I admit I do not know about how they handled it before the merger.

Listening to the Acti/Blizz Q3 Conference call. Interestingly enough, their Online Revenue is up 22% from last year. Obviously WoW is only a part of that, but it seems the company isn't crying at the moment. In fact, the company is hitting record highs everywhere. Looking forward to Mike's statement on WoW's situation (and if there really is any cause for concern) shortly.

EDIT: 10.3 million current subscribers as of today. Mike's trying to sprinkle sunshine on it, but...

EDIT #2: Absolutely no new Diablo 3 news.

EDIT #3: Question/Answer period. People are asking about where WoW subscribers are going. Mike is still sprinkling sunshine without really answering anything.

EDIT #4: They're getting hammered with reasonable WoW subscriber questions and reasonable Diablo 3 RM Auction House questions. Mike's sounding flustered.

I suspect that since Blizzard is pushing Azmodan in Diablo III that the expansion will focus around Belial since Duriel and Andariel are the other two of the Lesser Evils who are now dead.

All I will say is that this scenario is not the case.
If you want to learn more, check out the panels (especially the lore panel) from this years Blizzcon. Spoilers, obviously.

Having actually played and beaten RDR on PS3. I can say that some of the game would need to be changed in order for it to work in a PC setting.

The main issue off the top of my head, is how its controller based auto aim system is used during horse/coach rides. How it works is the game literally and fully auto aims you to a target just by using left trigger. It actually cycles targets with each left trigger press.

So riding along on a coach/horse its literally this: *Under attack* Left trigger-right trigger to shoot. Left-right, left-right, left-right. Thats an actual shoot out.

I'm a fan of mouse based aiming too, fully. But this game hand holds you. Maybe thats why they don't release it on PC. They don't want to have to re-do game mechanics.

From what I recall, there were three aiming modes in RDR. You're describing casual mode. Expert mode was available, and that was pure manual aiming for all situations.
