as long as the suits who work at game companies are convinced they need copy protection on their games, there will be copy protection on games. There have been several debacles and still we have copy protection.

i wish the article had been longer! I want to know why the human figures dont look all that great, especially the faces (splotchy textures all over). Was that really intended for artful effect or for some other technical reason?
I would have happily enjoyed a re-make of system shock 2 over what we got -- a too-easy shooter with a cool story and a dreadfully lame end-boss. Not an A level game, not a terrible game.

no sorry but he's said dumbass stuff like this before in other interviews -- one was regarding Half Life 2 if I recall after Valve pointed out how many folks never finished the first chapter of that game. Spector saw that simply to mean that "all gamers want shorter games."

stalker has some truly artful texture work on buildings and various light effects that put other A-release games to shame. GTA4 and Mass Effect cough cough. There's some real talent there and hopefully they'll get a chance to make a game with more funding.

nice -- still one of the better multiplayer games because of the crazy variety in equipment. Nobody has the same character at that point.

the streaming technology showcased here _is_ interesting but this is just another technology that Intel uses to get around the fact that Intel makes terrible video graphics chips.

i'd be shocked if there weren't a new xbox for holiday 2010. Nintendo will have something with storage and internet capability by then too. Sony is a question mark.

consoles are great fun but not all games work well on a console. the recent 360 demo for the new version of civilization is a perfect example. They've rather ingeniously built a Civ game that works on a controller but it still has me repeatedly wanting to reach for a mouse. Some games belong on a PC or gameplay is lost in the process.

i loved flatout 2 but it has to be said this is simply flatout 2 with a few extra challenge bits added. no new race tracks or anything worth buying versus Flatout 2. If you like arcade style racing it is worth checking out the demo.

check out the screen comparisons -- they didnt just borrow art from Oblivion, they borrowed entire rooms also with the objects in the same locations. Either brazen theft of someone was trying to play a ill-conceived joke that backfired

at 40 bucks for the whole year, its a no-brainer to go for the gold unless you have absolutely no interest in multiplayer ever. The german cardgames on Live arcade are quite good when played with human players so I'm on there at least once a week. Buy the Live card somewhere with free shipping and no tax and you save even more.

well I bet its gonna be console-based and very online mulitplayer centric so those of us who enjoyed past Diablo's might need to adjust.
