Not when we start seeing big conventions showing off PC first games that look, sound, feel and play worlds better than their console counter parts.

What games are this? The only game I have seen that probably couldn't be ported to consoles is the korean mmo blade and soul.

Not "can't be ported", the quote was "PC first games that look, sound, feel and play worlds better than their console counter parts". Many PC games can be ported, but you necessarily lose fidelity in the conversion.

A thread-relevant example: Battlefield 3 fits that description perfectly. The console version will support at most 24 players, and the footage from the PS3 version was considerably less awesome looking than the PC footage they've been showing.

Uh, where did you get any of that information? I didn't see any mention of it in the interview.

It was an earlier interview: http://www.tribesnetwork.com/apps/podcast/ (edit: I believe it was this one)

Main points:

A) They control the content. They're justifying this by saying they're going to keep making content for awhile, but essentially they don't think they can charge for content unless they stop the community from making it. No mapping, no modding.

B) They control the servers. They plan on letting people rent private servers from them.

FF4 was so buggy on OSX, that I finally switched to Chrome.

Although I tried Chrome a few times before... the extensions I used were never up to snuff compared to Firefox... now they are, so it will either take a major fuckup from Google, or a super fantastic feature from Mozilla to get me to switch back.

This, and just the sheer speed of Chrome on OS X and Windows. It starts quickly and never gets bogged down, even with extensions.

Yeah, the actual CBC article is clearer. Apparently the claim came from the twitter feed

The group's Twitter feed contains bragging from people who claim to have taken the information and logged on to people's personal sites: taking money from PayPal accounts, replacing dating site profile pictures with pornographic images, and engaging in chats using other people's Facebook accounts.

The list is around. Rather than linking, he's a page to just check if your email address is on it: right here

They're random password/email combos from random sites though; lulzsec says they have no idea which sites which combos are from. I don't know how vg247 thinks they do know.

It's also fun as hell. Destruction and adapting to it is part of the strategy.

Or they're just tired of fucking around with gaming computers. Not everyone is a computer person.

I do know a couple people who are COD fans but are falling under the sway of EA's hype. Marketing works. I don't know that it'll work well enough to unseat COD, but I can hope.

I don't see shitty DRM affecting this. It's primarily an online game. You're going to have to log in to play it anyways. And from what I've read on the Origin site, it doesn't have limited activations or anything like that. As long as it has an Offline mode like Steam for singleplayer, should be good.

That's a lot of sodium.

I like snacking on popcorn. Stove-top popped mind; the microwaveable stuff is terrible and loaded with salt and "flavours". Just grab a gigantic thing of kernels from costco and you're off.

Not so much a take-anywhere snack like sunflower seeds or chips though.

God forbid someone enjoys a console racing game. It is a game too, which is one of the advantages it's got over most of the PC racing sims I've tried.

Dirt 3 is fun, but I wouldn't peg it for "realistic", or even for "somewhat realistic".

Microsoft has stopped selling the classic Xbox 360 wheel, even though all of the Forza 4 press demoes and such that I've seen have been using it. I'm still hoping they're coming out with a real successor to it (i.e. with force feedback and such)

Edit: And I spoke without even trying to look it up. I missed http://forzamotorsport.net/en-us/Forza4_Wheels/

Madcatz force-feedback wheel for $230 (it's not bad looking), and a new line of Fanatec wheels (judging from the last ones, they'll be pricey). That's promising

Edit: Fanatec: We will keep our fully modular ordering system so the pricing depends on the options you take. It will range between 320 and 700 for a set with pedals.

Programming guru gives insight into Wii U tech.

Vaguest thing I've ever read, but he probably can't say much at this point. At least the hint at the Wii U having a considerable amount of memory is promising.

Sorry, not everyone wants to get sniped as soon as you spawn. SP fan here.

You must have been on some awful teams. Take heart though. In the BF series you can earn dog tags for stabbing people. I make it a personal mission to hunt down and stab snipers. Their crimson blood dripping off Mr. Stabby as they shed their mortal coil.

What's that Mr. Stabby? No, no, it's not time. Patience my friend.. patience....

Yeah, I've spent whole games just gunning for snipers, it's pretty fun. The only time I use sniper rifles is when I'm counter-sniping, but usually I prefer to just stab them. Or just smoke grenade them repeatedly

Battlefield proper does not need single player. Why bother.

Because you're not the only person in the world. Because they're gunning for COD now. Because single player makes for good commercials.

I'll be all over the single player mode, even though I agree that multiplayer is the main attraction. Bad Company 2's single player was pretty entertaining.

Sony should be pushing dedicated servers like we see on pc games (haha, like we hope to see) so that a game like MW3 will play substantially better on the PS3. BF3 could have 64 players on the ps3 and less on the 360.

BC2 runs on (EA-operated) dedicated servers, and I assume BF3 will as well. So, uh, most of what you've been saying in this thread...

BF2 (and BC2) in pubs was terrific with friends. I know that can be said of many games, but the squad mechanism works perfectly in the game.

BC2 is infantry-centric, but that just fits in with its style and lower playercount. It's not a main-line Battlefield game and they did a good job of differentiating it. I like it as it is.
