No, but it wouldn't be, would it? Dynamix is long-gone, and the last attempt at a Tribes game (far away as it may have been) was a bust.

I've still got more hope for Red 5's Firefall at this point, considering the lead designer is Tribes 1's. It's not Tribes, maybe even less than this game, but it's still got that spirit to it (and jetpacks).

Not sure if it's been adjusted, but I found that the best way to get ahead early-on was to hijack those big transport ships. There's one system (can't recall where) where there's one sitting around, and there's jump gate in the system to a nearly-empty uncontrolled system. Hire the ship, bring it through the gate, and then open fire. They're pretty easy to take down, and with no witnesses there are no repercussions. Take it back through the gate, sell it at the shipyard, and repeat once the next one spawns (a few minutes).

For some people maybe, but it works perfectly fine here.

Could be related to the video card. I've heard a couple other people having issues with the same card (8800 GTS). Although, it could very well have nothing to do with that, I don't really have a huge sample size here. It's still spiffy on DX9, so whatever.

Yeah, DX11 is totally borked. I haven't had any issues at all with DX9.

The game is fun. It's engrossing. It's definitely Civ. It's just different. I can't make a judgment on it yet, but it seems promising.

Reach beta was stupid fun. It's not like it has anything that any other game doesn't; everything here has been done before. It's just that it's put together in a nice, shiny, approachable, and polished package. It's also a refreshing break from all the "bang, you're dead" shooters like CoD. I like the ridiculousness of it.

It's mostly PvE, I believe they've said there's PvP as well. It sounds like a semi-MMO like Guildwars (social hubs, instanced arenas; the instanced areas will support more than 100 players, though). They've also said specifically (threads on the forum, and on Tribalwar) that it'll be f2p but purchasable items will not be gameplay affecting (also that low level players will be able to hang with high level players, assuming they're at least as good).

I really enjoyed the game just because it was extremely quick to get into (what with it being an XBLA/PSN game and with quick matchmaking), and it was pretty fun to boot. I haven't seen any reason to play it since BC2, though.

Except I don't think most players would want to play as generic thugs. Of course, the game could let you play as the supervillains, each with their own powers/abilities. That might be cool but it's still more of a gimmick than anything else and wouldn't really keep people playing for years.

Hidden:Source is like that, and it's definitely fun. I can see it not going over well with many people, though.

Xbox Voice Chat Quality to be Improved, says Microsoft

Finally. The codec quality is pathetic, especially compared to the PC voice chat solutions we've all been using for years. Some people have voices that just don't work at all on it; I can understand them perfectly well on Mumble, but on the 360 it's a garbled mess.

I'm impressed, it's surprisingly fun and fresh.

The AI kind of ran out of steam, unfortunately; because of a bit of UI confusion (not remembering that you need to select a location for units after building them) I only barely survived, and lost everything but my barracks and tank factory. I still ended up winning, though; a few rangers in trees, and the enemy eventually ran out of units.
