its not my favourite type of game, but i do enjoy games of mindless mowing down of waves of enemies and loot collection.

It's not a new IP. Even http://www.starcraft2.com/ that used to redirect to the Blizzard website, is now hosting the teasers.
So is www.diablo3.fr or www.warcraft4.fr and probably any other unused domains that are owned by Blizzard, too. So the fact that www.starcraft2.com is hosting the teaser has no meaning at all.
But it is very likely, of course, that it will be a Starcraft franchise product, simply because of the setting where the announcement will take place. Korea = Starcraft. Anything else would be a surprise.

It isn't actually the supbar performance which surprises me the most but rather the mediocre image quality the HD 2000 offers in contrast to nvidia. A new AA mode which blurs the image including text and edges? Are they crazy? No one wants a feature which blurs the image when the last few years everyone was trying to get a sharper picture.

They don't have a technological advantage, they don't have a performance advantage, they don't have an image quality advantage, they don't have a feature advantage, they don't have a time-to-market advantage, they don't have a price advantage. All they have is a fucking shitty product is what they have. Those losers. If Phenom is similarly fucked up then AMD/ATI will be floating tits up in their own shit by the end of the year.

Agree with Cabezone. The 2900XT is a monumental failure. Too little too late. Released half a year late with subpar performance compared to the competitor's second best product (actually third best if we include the 8800 Ultra) and insane power consumption. This card sucks some major schlonkey dong. The 8800GTS 640MB is the much better choice for anyone who isn't a completely braindead retard.
Oh, and for those hoping that there will be an XTX shortly that is somehow magically going to fix everything for AMD/ATI... it ain't gonna happen. The XT is the top of the line card. It's all these losers got. There won't be another high performance card before they make the switch to a 65nm process (the 2900XT is based on a 80nm process) in July/August. And it will probably take another 2 or 3 months after the switch before we'll see any new cards being produced in volumes so I seriously doubt we'll see anything faster from these suckers before September/October.

Soldier of Fortune sucked ass. It was the Beavis and Butthead of first person shooters. Uh-huhuhuhuhuhuhuh, dude, huhuhuhuh, look at that huhuhuhuhuh I just blew off that guy's head uh-huhuhuhuhuhuh. Zero gameplay. Zero fun. Just gore and bullshit.
The game was taking itself way too seriously (it really doesn't get sillier than hiring a real world merc to do "consulting" work for the game as they did with the SoFs).
If I really wanted a combo of serious and gore then I could just search the net for some Faces of Death vids or turn on the news and watch some blown up Iraqis or American soldiers. I don't need no SoF for a fix of realistic gore so I'm glad that the franchise has never made a return. It was a retarded concept in the first place.

If you don't think that, eventually, all or most PC games in some way touched by MS will require Vista, then you're just... incredibly naive. Besides, what about Halo 2? It's a Vista exclusive. Isn't Hellgate:London requiring Vista, too?
Wrong. Microsoft's grip on the gaming industry is strong but BY VERY FAR not strong enough to all of a sudden force EA, Activision, UbiSoft, THQ, BioWare, Atari, Take2 and the bazillions of other publishers/developers to develop games for a platform (Vista) that has a rather poor user base. They will all keep developing games for XP for a long, long time to come and will only change their publishing strategy when (if ever) Windows Vista has an install base that makes it a worthy platform to develop for. There is absolutely no sign that this will be happening anytime soon.
Shadowrun is an attempt to increase the install base of Vista. I think we all and Microsoft themselves know exactly that this game is not the "killer app" that is all of a sudden going to make everyone buy Vista. Halo 2 isn't either (which yeah I think is a Vista exclusive but Hellgate is only "optimized" for Vista I think but will run on XP).
Look at the PS3 and how reluctant developers/publishers are to focus any development efforts on a platform that has a poor install base. They're much better off to develop cross platform and not limit themselves to one platform exclusively. The same is true for Vista. Microsoft is going to have a few carrots (like Shadowrun here) that they'll be dangling in the face of potential Vista customers but, really, who gives a fuck? It's plain dumb to derive any the end is nigh for XP and PC gaming on XP doom and gloom crap from this ONE exclusive release (since Vista came out 4 months ago).
