Yeah you'd think if they were going to arrange some big stunt like that the producer's would have the balls not to just go for such an easy target like a Japanese woman. At least it wasn't a schoolgirl I guess.

I've seen reports saying Funcom have sold 700,000 copies of the game. Whether that means the amount of stock they've sent to retailers or actually boxes leaving shops I've no idea.

It's not evolution it's more like revolution. Like a lot of gaming/art/fashion trends we end up going back to something that worked well before and moved away from just for the sake of progress not necessarily because it was an improvement.

Re: Quote of the Year |

It's not a PC exclusive, there was a story on Bluesnews a while ago saying that it was now being developed in conjunction with the consoles.
I remember posting in the thread fearing that they had reworked it it completely focusing the controls and UI on typical console mode.
because like Muzyka says "The 360 control is really strong in the fact that's it's very easy and intuitive to control"
Which is why they've changed Mass Effect's interface and controls so much for the PC version?
so I guess very easy and intuitive is code for simple and restrictive.

That quote puts me off even looking at the rest of the article, it's completely nonsensical.
Am I missing anything?

Holy crap Madworld looks like it'll be a lot of fun. Really like the Sin City style. Hopefully it will have enough gameplay to remain fun for more than a few days of bloody violence =)
A gameplay vid here http://nintendofanalliance.com/wii/previews/madworld-wii.html
Also a decent write up and interview on IGN
"Mad World is made up of two concepts," says Nishikawa. "The first key concept within Mad World is the stark black and white graphics. This is to further emphasize the violence, as represented by the stark red blood. The other key concept is that we didn't want to create a game that was depraved or perverse, but rather, featured comical, over-the-top violence so that anyone could enjoy it." I wonder if the usual anti violent video game people will find decapitating people with a chainsaw comical

GTA IV |

I've seen a lot of people on various forums bemoaning that many gameplay features from San Andreas have been dropped from GTA IV and that it's a pretty boring courier game for the first few hours if you only follow the story line stuff.
Although it could just be the general trend of too much hype and too little substance.

Space Siege |

Huh, totally forgot about Space Siege, I assumed it had already come out but totally bombed. Still another 5 months to go?
Could be a decent time waster. It sounds as though it has some interesting game play elements with the robot companion and 'robotisizing' your body.
Hopefully it will as fun and challenging as Alien Breed on the Amiga, which I seem to remember playing to death when I was in school. Which was sort of similar I guess.

Didn't Microsoft make a loss on every 360 for the first couple of years? Companies like Microsoft and Sony can swallow that money easily, it's no big deal.
Microsoft did it to gain control of the 'next gen' console market and now Sony have done it to win the 'next gen' disc format war.

Yeah I don't know why I'm surprised. I'm sure I used to take the piss out of "gayness" when I was younger, maybe I just don't find it funny any more rather than any sort of new life philosophy of live and let live or each to their own etc

Sexual content? |

Gamertags are visible to everyone and it would be hard for me to defend to a parent of a young child who saw it that the name did not contain content of a sexual nature. Xbox Live "banhammer wielder" Stephen Toulouse talking about the gamertag - theGAYERgamer
Yeah it's a shit gamertag but so are most people's online nicknames, including mine. They're almost as bad as people who name themselves after famous real or fictional characters.

Personally as a more casual mmog player these days, micro transactions are much more appealing to me so I can flit about between a few different games rather than be tied to a monthly fee.
But I think they should be one thing or the nother, either just a monthly sub or just micro transactions.

So I just looked on GamingSteve website and as he has been supporting Spore since it was first announced at GDC a few years ago he has received a personal note from some guy working on Spore about the DRM issue.
But that's not the interesting part, Steve has buds at Blizzard and he finishes the short post with
Oh yes, and if you think EA's DRM is harsh wait until you see the new DRM that Blizzard is working on for S2 and D3.... It will be interesting to see what the backlash (if any) will be like for Blizzard compared to EA/Bioware on a similar (or worse) DRM issue. No doubt the thread on that when the news breaks will make this one seem pathetically small
