What are the chances they're looking into removing persistent DRM, given the Rock-Paper-Shotgun fallout from yesterday?

Exactly the same chances that they have of me forgetting about the BS DRM, no true single player, no LAN, no modding, no cross-region play, etc, etc and buying the game: ZERO.

The post-Kotick Blizzard is not exactly known for listening to gamers, despite saying it 10 times in every interview. Talk is cheap.

"We're dedicated to making sure each version of Battlefield 3 makes the most out of the platform it's running on, but there are some changes we need to make, especially with consoles compared to PC"

Sure. If the crippled version of BC2 they released for the PC is the most they can do, I pity them and those that bought the game.

60 to 75 Hz is VERY perceptible in videos, so I doubt 60 to 120 fps is barely perceptible anywhere.

Never have gone past 85 hz, though, and that was with CRTs.

Since it's MP I guess UbiDRM is completely irrelevant here even if this title has it.

What Blue said. Plus, this is a lot of fun in LAN, and if your LAN doesn't have a net connection, you're screwed.

Fortunately, it seems that Nadeo is trying to compensate the StarForce years and the fact that they sold themselves to the worst publisher out there by keeping (proper) LAN play support and not forcing always-online.

It almost renews your faith, doesn't it?

Given the number of features they're taking out, the DRM, the lack of a server browser, public server files, LAN support, modding, mapping, etc, and the number of things they'll STILL take out as we get closer to release date (like they did with BC2), plus the fact that they'll nickle and dime players with map packs, if not P2W weapons.. (Edit: oh, and I forgot about Origin. No, thanks)

No, it doesn't renew my faith. Not in the least.

Red Orchestra 2, on the other hand..

Well if Blizzard is going to press on with their always-on and Real_id BS they're done as far as I'm concerned. I've had it with being treated like a criminal and/or monetized to death by this industry.

This.

They're dead to me.

So if setting a zombie on fire gave you the "Did What We Should Do To All Homos" achievement we should all just get over it, it's a joke?

There's a HUGE difference between putting offensive text in an achievement where everybody will read it, and putting it in some debug code where no one outside Techland should have ever seen it if it weren't for the inept soul that uploaded a beta as the final game.

See if you can spot it.

We'll see.

There. Your post refuted :-P

Well, first let's see if it is true LAN support (i.e., offline), and then let's see if it is really true (this is Bowling speaking, after all).

30 Million per year or more? That much money for a game? Did I say insane?

That number pales in comparison to the marketing budget. I think I read somewhere that Activision allocated around $100 million for either MW2 or BlOps.

Can you imagine the amazing games that could be done with that money?. Or just pay up all the indies in the world and tell them to make whatever they want.

Fucking Kotick..

In fact, those 500 poor souls are releasing turd after turd. And what is worse, they're selling millions of them.

Meanwhile that whole airport mission in one of the CoD games a couple of years made parents and the media lost their minds.

I wouldn't call that a mission. In fact, I wouldn't even call MW2 a game. If anything, it's a interactive movie, and a very bad one at that.

Oh, and every time someone at DICE opens his mouth, it's to announce that they're removing yet another feature from BF3, usually in a very douchebaggy tone (So a player can't help himself and will kill a child if one is in front and he has a gun?. Really?. Very nice opinion you have of us, DICE).

Glad I'm not touching their shit with a 200 feet pole. Even from farther given how Origin (probably the worst rape of a beloved name in videogame history) works.

Yep. Cevat Yerli is worse than CliffyB, Mark Rein and Mike Capps put together

I'll never forget his "we would have sold 20 times more copies if not for piracy" comment about Crysis. Only Pachter can spew bullshit of higher quality.
