News Comments > The Lord of the Rings Online: Mithril Edition Announced
1. Re: The Lord of the Rings Online: Mithril Edition Announced Oct 11, 2011, 13:11 TorchMaster

Getting LotRO back on store shelves is probably a good thing for it, especially with the pre-Christmas flood of new games on the way.

Turbine also has a forum posting today that they are hiring engineers: http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?425540-LOTRO-is-hiring!

Perhaps they made money off the recent expansion and are re-committing to the title.

I just finished Book 3 of the "Song of Fire and Ice" series last night. I have issues with the writing style here, but the second half of Book 3 was tremendous. I'm hooked again and ready to continue.

I feel there are too many characters presented, there is too much jumping around across viewpoints, and too much focus on descriptions of meaningless visual details. These books would be better if edited down from 900 pages in my opinion.

With that said, there are many that think this is the best fantasy series by the best writer in the genre, so if you aren't familiar with it you should consider checking it out.

Blue may like this Groundhog day joke, but I am missing his annual Chinese New Year joke. C'mon Blue, bring it; I'm counting on you for tonight's update.

A great band that got an amazing amount out of a simplistic approach. Music at its most basic. Raw, honest, powerful. They didn't need an orchestra of musicians or racks of technology to create terrific songs.

I'm sure that Jack will continue to make music, so this isn't an end as much as a transition. However, I hope Jack doesn't lose sight of what made the White Stripes so good. For me, the Raconteurs don't resonate like the White Stripes did.

I am playing and enjoying King Arthur right now after having picked it up at the Steam Christmas sale. There is a lot to like here, but there are many disjointed elements (such as city management) and balance issues that I think the devs can tighten up in a sequel.

edit: and now I just found out that song was a cover.

I just learned John Lennon was in band before the Plastic Ono Band! Sorry dude, just had to do it; it's ok to only know modern music; APC is a good band

And... done. Goodbye Real ID -- What a dumb idea.

Edit: It is still showing my name on the SC2 in-game player profile, but the 'Add Facebook Friends' box has been removed. So, something was effected by this change, but maybe the entire fix is not in place.

Word of warning. When you install the game it also installs Panda Media Booster

PBM used to be automatically installed, but I'm pretty sure they did away with it two months ago and it is no longer installed.

ET was the shizzle.

Much respect to iD for consistently releasing their old source code. I've learned a lot from their code.

I wonder if this has the potential to force NCsoft into bankruptcy. That’s a sizable judgment and NCsoft hasn’t exactly had many hits lately, see: Aion and Richard Garriott’s Tabula Rasa. I was interested in what Guild Wars 2 would bring us…

9. Re: bioshock; Out of the Blue Jun 8, 2010, 20:17 TorchMaster

Doesn't change anything.

If I recal correctly, saving all the little girls versus killing even one results in a different cut-scene at the end. Not really a big difference, and hardly worth altering your play style, but it does result in a change. I simply watched the cut-scenes using an external viewer.

Bioshock was a good story driven game in a creative game world, but the combat was sub-par. I haven't played Bioshock 2.

You can probably tell if your game is 'hugely popular' or not if you reset the servers and no one notices.

I too enjoyed the Life on Mars finale. Kudos on noticing the Dean Winters sightings. I found myself sayiing, "It's 'That Guy' again!" In three shows on three different networks, I thought he played three extremely different characters quite well.

The Yankees and the Sony PS3 are the perfect marriage: overpriced, narcissistic, over-engineered, functionally bereft, and morally bankrupt.

Sorry Yankee 'fans', not trying to stick you in the eye, just trying to be funny with regard to the PS3.

I'm not sure this is news or not, but Amazon and EBgames are listing a February 23 release date. Less than a month before gold and they haven't gone into beta yet?
