This "improvement" also causes most scripted events to not occur, so you shouldn't actually use it.

From what I've read the events problem has been fixed.

News Comments > Gold - Race Driver GRID

Just wondering but does anyone on this site have anything positive to say about any game these days?

You must be new to the inter-web thingie. Welcome aboard.

Takes some getting used to with the handling, but spinning out? Heh i had trouble spinning the car with all the aids turned off.

You apparently don't understand what a canned spin means.

If you try and drive these cars like a real race car, you will spin because real cars don't act that way. From what I've seen in this game, a lot of the behaviour of the cars have been pre-programmed to act a certain way, instead of letting a good physics engine handle the math. Try rFactor or LFS for decent sims to understand the difference. I've driven real cars on real tracks for 15 years, and GRID is a fine fantasy and nothing more.

If you're used to playing console racing games, you'll do just fine. I'm sure codemasters will sell a lot of this garbage. Have fun with it.

6. Typical codemasters garbage May 17, 2008, 08:45 axeme

After trying, and deleting, the PS3 demo, this will never touch my PC.

The cars are like bricks with hockey pucks for wheels. I don't think that I've ever seen so many canned spins in any racing game. I think the original 1982 Pole Position had more realism. Even for an arcade game this is horrible.

you mean to say mac os x AND linux are based on unix.

Uh, no. Linux may be Unix-like but is not based on Unix.

BSD, which OS X is based on, was based on Unix, but I believe all that old crusty unix stuff was replaced during the AT&T Unix/BSD legals.

It looks like this game, as well as its predecessors, does not properly support split-axis controllers. Codemasters still just doesn't get it. I hate dumbing down my wheel setup to combined axis. I did just to try this demo, though. I should have known it was going to blow right then.

After playing for a while with the demo, I was not suprised at what was released. It's going to a blast to play for the console/arcadey types and will completely suck for the simmer. I'm one of those sim people. I've uninstalled it now and will never look back. It's garbage to me. I don't even care about the simulation modes. I can't try them in the demo, so forget it. I'll stick with LFS, GTR, GT Legends, r-Factor and GPL.

Some background: I've been racing real cars in various SCCA classes for 15 years.

The shareware was out June 22, 1996. It's also how I remember my wedding anniversary. I remember my wife rushing me out of the house the morning of the 23rd to make the plane for our honeymoon because I was too busy playing.
