Jack (paranoid),

With Regards to AoC, no consiquence (IE ganking lowbies punishment), isnt in yet.

there is just a PvP XP system (with decay at the higher levels) and also rewards. the main things are the fixes to the engine and the general NPC behaviour.

Since i went back it does seem a lot better.

There is a lot of general Fixes and additions content between 45 and 60 is still thin, after that its pretty decent, and the stuff up to 40 is actaully now excellent (the instances have all be redone, making them much better, more fun and such).

AoC is definatly heading in the right direction, such a shame they didnt give it 2 more months dev time, its actaully pretty good now (dont get me wrong i am no fan boy there are still issues).

but yes ,definate improvement from funcom, its just a BIG shame that they screwed the pooch and now there are less players.

as for WoW exiles, well i am one, but i never really was that crazy about wow, i lead my guild thru MC, BWL and such and quit just after hitting 70 soon after BC came out.

to be frank the main reason i left was the "free epics" deal they seemed to have taken up. the PvP epic situation just devalued the EXCELLENT PvE game and thats a shame.

the stupid thing is i love pvp and play mainly pvp games, but for me WoW was always about the PvE because i dont think any game did it as well as WoW did.

the PvP in wow to me always felt like it was bolted on afterwards and ive never really liked it.

If i want PvP ill play EvE, or linage or even AoC.

/Theo.

Edit Fion, yes i thought he was talking crap as well - given that my box runs almost everything i play on max.

i think thats unfair, cut features is not a beta, its a decision on the health of the game.

beta, is buggs and such. AoC was beta, its now not, its actaully getting fixed as of last patch ive finally started playing again now they have sorted most of the stuff.

i am running everything on max, with a 280 OC setup, its not that my machine cant do it. (AoC runs at a steady 80 fps on max, except on occasion).

the charicter models are frankly bad, however i suppose its the default armor i am wearing, but it just just seems a bit rought for me.

i am gonna press on this weekend and see how i enjoy it.

I still dont think the graphics are decent however, but it could be the starting area i guess. please dont confuse "scale" with graphics fidelity.

i also have some issues getting aa working, but ill try to set that in my drivers tonight.

my comparison point would be warcraft, AoC, and Tabula Rasa.

is ther eonly me that got his pre order and logged in and thought "meh?"

graphically its almost 1999 tackle and the gameplay so far seems utterly dull.

id go as far as to say AoC is more fun.

yes flame on.

good work on the free content however.

the worst thing about this is craig did a fucking AWSOME job with AO after gaute roadkilled the game, big shame for the AO community.

i hope the player base gives craig the time he needs cause he really is a GREAT game director.

I also hope gaute never gets a job in the mmo industry again. hell i wouldnt let him wash my car.

i guess you had a nice PvP server, ours was and still is a gank fest.

to be honest i still think this change is LAME despite benafiting from it, i have a 70 warrior on PVE who i will move stright away.

but i leveled 2 PvE and 4 PvP charicters and i have to say on my server STV, HH and LS are all total gank fests, and it IS easyer on a pve server, period. (from my PvP server).

having said that, thats only really the case when you dont know what your doing, once you L2p its less of a issue.

still, least ill play my warrior now.

as for the comment about proper PvP games, i do agree, but time is still a currency.

Ego soft in my opinion have not done anything worthwhile since x1, and xtension.

x2 = solar power plant fun.
x3 = unplayable laggy mess even on a highend system (at launch, admittedly ive not played since i got my 280OC) with WORST gui ever created ever.

Egosoft needed to change the game in 2001 not keep reskinning it for 7 years.

21. Re: Told you so... Sep 7, 2008, 08:11 Theo

only unfortunatly, your full of it.

they can and did play the game, the just didnt have access to any customer content. me and my house mate bought the game the same day, mine would login, his would not.

he got much further than me the first day, only difference is he had creatures created by professionals in his game (and they all looked awsome), and i had ones created by other people (some not so awsome).

yes it shouldnt have happened, but each of your posts just shows your total lack of understanding of the issue.

look in to issues before you comment, otherwise you just end up looking like a dork.

between the new GFX, new ships, factional warfare, new FW missions aplenty there has been content, problem with eve is not all the content fits to certain people.

for example we are getting this industry patch in december, prolly have loads of changes and content in, but wont matter a jot to me cause i dont do anything that does not mean YARR or boom.

4. Re: No subject Aug 28, 2008, 11:06 Theo

i wouldnt really call this a expansion, there is a bunch of trinity 1.2 stuff comming, but this isnt really a major release.

as for learning to play the game, yes skills help, but in PvP all that matters is a good head and the ability to follow orders.

2 days ago i took a 2 week old player out, took 30 mins for him to learn how to use a warp scrammer and then he got some kills with us.

he was totally over the moon, we got back after going on out with no losses, and the fact remains that without that 2 week old newb, we wouldnt have got ANY kills because we assigned him to warp scramble the enemys.

PvE is different of course, skills are the most important thing there cause eve pve is ZZZzzzzz

Info like this makes me wonder if the game will be a snooze fest.

It sounds like mass commercialism and dumbing games down to a least common denominator casual Sims type player.

There is little doubt the game will go multiplatform and from the sounds of that, it would work well for a Wii audience too.

yes lets make the game harder, that will dumb it down!!!!!!

retard.

18. Re: Quake Live Aug 14, 2008, 09:07 Theo

when carmac talks about a premium version, he talking about a premium engine, IE something that isnt a rehashed old game.

the game would still be supported by advertising only but youd likely have to pay a joining fee akin to buying the new "game".

In fact, its the very nature of Eve that prevents them from

(1) doing a planetside based add-on

(2) an in-ship/station based add-on.

Both of which will require - pretty much - a complete retooling of the entire game, engines, technology etc. At the expense - and risk - of alienating the install base who - by the very gaming definition are very happy with the Status Quo.

to correct you for the second time tonight, walking on stations is comming, already planed, there is media to look at if you look it up. it appears ccp are willing to take that risk the same way they took the risk that made them a succesfull company in the first place.

thank you for your answers on the other stuff, interesting.

in otherwords when the publishing deal was got they ether A) sold themselves down the river to get the game made, or B) fail at math, or C) publishers are even bigger leechs than is already public domain.
